We still don't have many details about what happened the first time the Trump administration tried to deliver small arms to resistance groups inside Iran earlier this year, other than the president's comments that the guns never got to where they were going. Still, President Trump appears to be willing to give it another go, based on remarks he made to Salem Media's Hugh Hewitt on Monday. The White House amplified those comments on Tuesday with a post on X. Those comments certainly suggest that Trump is willing to make another attempt at arming some elements of the Iranian public. The bigger question is how would we go about it?

The Senate Judiciary Committee late Monday added $1 billion to a proposed spending package for the U.S. Secret Service to help boost security to the White House ballroom.
The added funds do not specifically state that it must be used on the ballroom, but it does mandate that it's used on security upgrades to the White House. The funds are part of a $72 billion budget reconciliation bill proposed by the Judiciary panel and the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
The committees said the $1 billion will be for “the purposes of security adjustments and upgrades, including within the perimeter fence of the White House compound —

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is on maternity leave, so Secretary of State Marco Rubio briefed the press today, and he didn’t disappoint. The Florida Republican remained calm as he handled the hectic scene inside the briefing room, where reporters were eager to learn about the developing situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran.
Rubio, who is considered a potential 2028 contender, likely enjoyed the media attention, though he made jokes about two-parters from the pool while joking that he needed a laser pointer, as his pointing to reporters while taking questions wasn't effective.

President Donald Trump flexed his grip on the GOP base in Indiana on Tuesday, vanquishing a majority of the Republican state senators who had dared cross him on redistricting.
It was a show of force in the year’s first major test of Trump’s power over the GOP. Trump aligned groups dumped millions against the eight GOP lawmakers who blocked his effort to gerrymander the state. And on Tuesday night, at least five lost reelection.
Trump’s loyal and energized supporters turned out to punish the incumbents, showing that his endorsement remains the gold-standard of GOP politics.

However, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, may be vying for the crown for the most ridiculous remark. Democratic Rhode Island state Sen. Tiara Mack introduced S2710 on Feb. 27 with eight co-sponsors, legislation that tightens the state’s ban on so-called “assault weapons” by prohibiting possession of the firearms. Under the terms of the legislation, those who own prohibited firearms would have until Dec. 31 to either sell them to a licensed dealer or transfer them to an out-of-state resident who could legally own them, something pro-Second Amendment organizations say would violate Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

“These laws unconstitutionally infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms in common use for lawful purposes,” the DOJ said in a statement Tuesday. “As the complaint explains, the City enforces an ordinance that makes it a crime to possess so-called ‘assault weapons.’ But that the City’s ban includes AR-15-style rifles, which are the most popular rifles in America. A shadow has lifted over American democracy.
For generations, government-mandated racial prejudice quietly diluted the voting power of American whites, the very group that forms the overwhelming core of the Republican electorate. On April 29, the Supreme Court finally ended this systemic discrimination in its ruling in Louisiana v. Callais.
The decision strikes down race-based congressional maps that artificially boost minority districts at the expense of equal representation. The judgment applies to state and local districts, too. It restores a simple truth: districts must reflect population realities, not engineered outcomes designed to weaken one race’s electoral voice.
This is no minor adjustment. It is a foundational correction to 40 years of constitutional betrayal.

Imagine a system where arrests, convictions and sentencing for the crime of murder had to be in proportion to the racial composition of the population.
Since Asians are about 7% of the population, the murder arrests, convictions and sentences for Asians in such a scheme would have to be 7% of the total. Likewise, since Blacks, Latinos and whites make up about 13%, 19% and 62% of the population, respectively, they’d have to account for 13%, 19% and 62% of the murder arrests, convictions and sentencing. first glance, that sounds reasonable. But of course, it is not.

Maryland governor Wes Moore’s (D.) military service record has once again come under scrutiny, with a coalition of local news outlets reporting a slew of gaps and discrepancies in his file that suggest the presidential hopeful treated his 17 years in the military as little more than a ticket-punch for his political career.
The scrutiny—from a coalition of local news outlets called Spotlight on Maryland—once again stems from claims Moore made in the application he submitted to serve as a White House fellow in 2006, a position that served as the launchpad for his political career. Moore has already faced considerable scrutiny for falsely

As much as $16 trillion has been spent worldwide to defeat global warming. It could have been twice that and it would never be enough because the climate hustlers need to keep the dollars rolling in to line their own pockets. Now we finally have an Environmental Protection Agency chief who’s exposing the racket.
Testifying last week before a Senate committee, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin told lawmakers that the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a $27 billion stash that was created through the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, is a con. His office found

The suspected hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which has killed three people and sickened at least seven others, has two likely causes — and both are bad news for the 150 passengers on board, experts said.
The more likely scenario would be passengers contracting the virus from the feces, urine or saliva of infected rats or mice.
That’s the usual transmission vector, according to physician Zaid Fadul, a former Air Force flight surgeon — although the World Health Organization insisted Tuesday that no rodents have been found on the stranded liner. But there’s one strain of the hantavirus that has an alarming exception —

If a poem communicating a specific message withstands the test of time—surviving nearly four centuries—the message conveyed is definitely worth noting. Such is the case of “For Want of a Nail”—a favorite of Benjamin Franklin’s that he helped popularize in the 18th century. Its message is of great importance today in the aftermath of the third assassination attempt against President Donald Trump on April 25.
Originating in 1629, the poem’s message required but six lines:
For want of a nail, the shoe was lost;
For want of a shoe, the horse was lost;
For want of a horse, the rider was lost;
For want of a rider, the battle was lost;
For want of a battle,

The Supreme Court decided Monday to let its recent ruling limiting a key part of the Voting Rights Act take effect early instead of holding it for a month, per tradition.
The Supreme Court last week narrowed the scope of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act to bar race-based districts, ruling that Louisiana's map was unconstitutional and prompting the state to reschedule its upcoming House primaries while its lines are redrawn.
Supporters of the Supreme Court ruling urged the court to allow it to take effect immediately so Louisiana has time to redraw the maps,

South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace claimed Monday that Congress’ sexual harassment slush fund allegedly paid for settlements for a handful of former lawmakers that equaled more than $300,000.
Mace promised accountability for the victims, and the House paid out approximately $338,000 to settle the cases. One former lawmaker was targeted in sexual assault lawsuits three times and the House cumulatively paid out $115,000 to dismiss those cases.
The House Oversight panel subpoenaed information detailing the government payouts after a March committee vote, seeking a full accounting of payouts made before the settlements ended in 2018, according to Politico.

Washington, D.C., judge on Monday apologized to the suspect who allegedly opened fire during the White House Correspondents' dinner last month for how he has been treated by authorities in jail.
Cole Tomas Allen, a resident of Torrance, California, was placed under suicide watch at the D.C. jail because he allegedly told the FBI that he expected to die during the shooting. Suicide watch protocols mandated Allen remain on a 24-hour lockdown in a "safe cell," with no phone access to call or receive visits from anyone other than his legal team.
Prosecutor Jocelyn Ballantine claimed that since Allen told investigators he did not expect to survive the alleged attack,

The Supreme Court recently handed down one of its most consequential voting rights decisions in decades, striking down Louisiana’s congressional map in a 6–3 ruling that significantly curtails the power of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The decision in Louisiana v. Callais, written by Justice Samuel Alito and joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, has already triggered a rush of political condemnation and legislative action across the country, with governors calling special sessions and primaries being suspended in the final stretch before the 2026 midterm elections.

Barack Obama has offered a rare and candid glimpse into his marriage - and it turns out Donald Trump is causing trouble at home. The former President, 64, admitted in an interview that Michelle wants him to step back from public life so the couple can enjoy their later years together. The problem? He keeps getting pulled back into the politics of the day. The former commander-in-chief said Trump's return to the White House is the reason he cannot simply walk away, and that his inability to do so has become a source of friction at home. 'It does create genuine
