Alito vs. Jackson

Justice Sam Alito has emerged as a spokesman for the conservative (or, at least, moderate) majority on the Supreme Court, while Justice Ketanji Jackson seems to be auditioning for a role on MSNBC as a left-wing pundit. We wrote here about the Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais, where the Court held, correctly, that the Voting Rights Act cannot be interpreted to require racial gerrymandering. That decision was handed down last Wednesday. Yesterday, the Court issued a follow-up order directing a prompt entry of judgment. The Court’s per curiam said, in full:

Jackson has no business being a Supreme Court Justice. She is ignorant of our Constitution, US law, and SC precedents. She broadcasts her ignorance out loud. But what she is, is very important. She is the living and breathing testament to why we MUST vote for the GOP at EVERY level. America cannot afford to lose the Congress again. Maybe it might be okay to elect a Dim for dogcatcher - MAYBE - but probably not.

So, Brown already has delayed the decision by seven months with here petty refusal to write her dissent. She's stupid and a hard core political operative....BOTH.

Over the weekend, we saw Secretary of State Marco Rubio getting down in the DJ booth at a family wedding in Florida. At some point in the next 24 hours, he's going to hop on a plane to go have a nice little diplomatic chat with the pope and top Italian government officials. On Tuesday afternoon, he took a few moments out of his busy schedule to stop by the White House to fill in for Karolina Leavitt, who is currently on maternity leave. The result? A masterclass in foreign policy. As I write this, "Rubio 2028" is trending on X.

Decision Desk HQ has called the Ohio Governor's Race. With 87 percent of precincts reporting, tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has defeated his Republican challenger, YouTuber and car designer Casey Putsch, to move to the November 2026 general election. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy has won Ohio’s Republican primary for governor, NBC News projects, advancing to what could be an expensive and competitive general election in a state that has been brutal for Democrats in recent elections. Amy Acton, a former state health director, won the Democratic nomination Tuesday without opposition. Ramaswamy, 40, defeated Casey Putsch, a political novice known for his “car guy” videos on YouTube.

It’s not 1973 anymore, and that’s a very good thing for the United States. Back then, the United States imported more than a third of its oil, much of it from the Middle East — and it paid the price. Now it’s in a transformed position. “Drill, baby, drill” is arguably the most successful public policy of the last 20 years. It started life in 2008 as a catchphrase coined by Michael Steele, former lieutenant governor of Maryland, and has now been effected, with enormous economic and strategic benefits to the United States. On top of sweeping innovations forged by private industry, President Trump has driven a stake

United States President Donald Trump announced that Washington's effort to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the so-called "Project Freedom," will be "paused for a short period of time." Citing a request made by Pakistan and "other countries," as well as "Great Progress" with Iranian representatives, Trump said the halt will serve "to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed." Washington's blockade of Iranian ports, however, "will remain in full force and effect," the US president noted in his post on Truth Social.

In its recent Callais decision, the Supreme Court held that districts gerrymandered solely so that blacks can have a separate and special say in politics are unconstitutional. While past elections cannot be changed, future elections must be corrected. Callais asked that the Court immediately certify the decision, which is normally a 32-day process. Louisiana agreed. Because November’s elections are quickly approaching, the Supreme Court held that, yes, it could immediately certify the opinion. Callais is final. Donald Trump is getting accused by antisemites from across the political spectrum of being controlled by Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu. Tucker Carlson, in particular, has been railing not just against Israel and accusing Netanyahu of forcing Trump to attack Iran, but has even implied that American politicians support Israel out of literal fear for their lives. Of course, Tucker also thinks that President Trump can cast magic spells on Americans and could be the Antichrist. Condemnations of Israel and Jews around the world are everywhere, as well as accusations that AIPAC controls American politics, and a willingness to overlook the fact that Israel doesn't make it into the top 5

Ever since the Never Trumpers left the Republican Party and rushed into the arms, politically and financially, of the Democrats, it's been pretty clear that all the "conserving conservatism" talk was a smokescreen. They wanted to run the Republican Party, and when they were rebuffed, they exited to grift off the Democrats. I wrote about Jeb!'s former communications director now embracing Hasan Piker and Nick Fuentes because he wants to preserve "democracy" against Donald Trump, and we all know that David French, who ran into the arms of The New York Times, argued that the best way to fight abortions was to vote for abortion-until-birth Kamala Harris. I've written recently about Russia's crackdown on social media. Many Russians were used to using Telegram, a messaging app that supposedly couldn't be hacked, but in the past few months Putin's regime decided that was a problem and gradually shut down servers until Telegram became non-operational. The government encouraged people to switch over to a new Kremlin controlled messaging app called MAX which everyone assumes is being monitored by the FSB. But it turns out this paranoia goes beyond social media. Putin himself seems to fear he'll be a target, either of Ukraine or possibly of someone looking to carry out

The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it is moving forward with a lawsuit against Denver, Colo., challenging the city’s long-standing ban on so-called assault weapons. “These laws unconstitutionally infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms in common use for lawful purposes,” the DOJ said in a statement Tuesday. “As the complaint explains, the City enforces an ordinance that makes it a crime to possess so-called ‘assault weapons.’ But that the City’s ban includes AR-15-style rifles, which are the most popular rifles in America. Law-abiding Americans own tens of millions of rifles like those banned by the City.”

Another pharmacy is leaving Chicago because of theft, and somehow, the villain of the story is not the people stealing from it. The villain is apparently the business itself, which finally decided it had enough and decided to cut its losses. According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, a Walgreens located at 8628 S. Cottage Grove Ave. in the crime-ridden area is set to close permanently on June 4. Democratic Alderman William Hall joined residents outside the store Monday, where signs read “Senior Lives Matter” and “End Corporate Abandonment.” “Walgreens should be charged with first-degree corporate abandonment,” Hall said. “It should be a crime the way they’re treating our elders.

South Carolina GOP Rep. Nancy Mace claimed Monday that Congress’ sexual harassment slush fund allegedly paid for settlements for a handful of former lawmakers that equaled more than $300,000. Mace promised accountability for the victims, and the House paid out approximately $338,000 to settle the cases. One former lawmaker was targeted in sexual assault lawsuits three times and the House cumulatively paid out $115,000 to dismiss those cases. The House Oversight panel subpoenaed information detailing the government payouts after a March committee vote, seeking a full accounting of payouts made before the settlements ended in 2018, according to Politico.

The Supreme Court ruled Monday its prior ruling on race-based congressional districts takes immediate effect. The order {SEE HERE} speeds up the normal 32-day timeline and puts the State of Louisiana on notice their current districts are not constitutional. Effectively the Louisiana Governor and legislature have delayed the election to address the districts. However, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was not happy with the immediacy ruling and wrote a dissent that was so ridiculous none of the other minority justices would sign on to it. Jackson said the majority “unshackles itself” from “constraints.” The court should follow the default rule, she insisted.

The suspected hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which has killed three people and sickened at least seven others, has two likely causes — and both are bad news for the 150 passengers on board, experts said. The more likely scenario would be passengers contracting the virus from the feces, urine or saliva of infected rats or mice. That’s the usual transmission vector, according to physician Zaid Fadul, a former Air Force flight surgeon — although the World Health Organization insisted Tuesday that no rodents have been found on the stranded liner. But there’s one strain of the hantavirus that has an alarming exception —

Supporters of the Supreme Court ruling urged the court to allow it to take effect immediately so Louisiana has time to redraw the maps,

The scrutiny—from a coalition of local news outlets called Spotlight on Maryland—once again stems from claims Moore made in the application he submitted to serve as a White House fellow in 2006, a position that served as the launchpad for his political career.
