Gov. Hochul’s ‘crazy like a fox’
plan to encumber New York with more debt

For a couple of days, I’ve been contemplating a New York Post report about New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s apparent willingness to saddle New York, a state already drowning in debt, with another $1.5 billion in obligations. How in the world could she be so fiscally irresponsible? However, having read Mike McDaniel’s essay about blue state insolvency, I finally understand what’s going on: She knows (or, at least, assumes) that the bill will never come due. Here’s what the New York Post reported: Gov. Kathy Hochul is weighing a possible deal with a top union to allow public workers from teachers to nurses hired after 2012 to retire at 55 —

I thought that life expectancy was increasing. I thought that the Social Security retirement age was going up. Retire at 55?

Will not be the first time that a blue state will demand to be bailed out by the rest of us. I hope the president after Trump is Vance and that he is the one to tell her to live within her means.

Teacher union bribery is a surefire way to achieve the goal of nearly one hundred percent of teachers voting democrat. It has been working well in Pennsylvania where the selfish teachers retire early, enjoy a flood of benefits and get paid more along the way if they are willing to get a (paid for by the taxpayers) Master's degree. That's on top of working nine months a year. Great work if you can get it and pumping out illiterate students poses no problem for you and the state.

In fact it's common practice for public employees to retire at a young age. Like the military, retirement eligibility is based all or in large part on years of service, not purely age. In my home city, employees can retire with pay after 23 years of service which for many means mid-40s. It's likely the cause of most city's retirement funds not meeting national standards for viability.

So, teachers, who can't get their students to read, only have to work until they are 55 while others, who don't get 8 weeks vacation every year, have to wait until they are 67. Nice.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, a top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee and candidate for California governor, relentlessly pressed to release all the Jeffrey Epstein files — even if innocent people were implicated — going so far as to suggest withholding funding to the Justice Department. “If the president is not implicated, then why not release everything?” Swalwell asked FBI Director Kash Patel in a tense exchange at a congressional hearing late last year that typified his pressure campaign. But Swalwell’s tone on unlimited transparency shifted markedly last week when he learned the Trump White House might release a long-

The United States executed what officials described as “one of the most challenging and complex” rescue missions in the history of U.S. special operations to recover a downed Air Force officer deep inside Iran after he survived more than 24 hours behind enemy lines — injured during a violent ejection, hunted across mountainous terrain by Iranian forces and civilians, and ultimately located through a high-stakes intelligence effort that initially raised fears of a trap before culminating in a dramatic extraction that forced U.S. forces to destroy their own aircraft. President Donald Trump confirmed the rescue at 12:09 a.m. Sunday on Truth Social, declaring, “WE GOT HIM!”

The right to keep and bear arms is a human right. Even if most other nations ignore it, having the means to defend yourself is an essential right, even if you elect not to do so. It's like free speech. It's a human right, even if you don't care to speak out about things. But all too often, it's treated like nothing of the sort, even here in the United States. People want to attach things to it that boil down to it becoming a privilege you have to look to the government to grant after a sincere, "Mother, may I?"

Don't look now, but FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and Jim Acosta agree on something: President Donald Trump is "winning" his effort to reshape the media landscape in his second term. Appearing on the "Power Lines" podcast with his fellow ardent leftists Oliver Darcy and Jon Passantino, Acosta glumly proclaimed, "I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that Donald Trump is winning in his, you know, quest to reshape the media in this country that he's cracked the code on how to hurt the press in the U.S." Acosta recently testified at a Democrat pseudo-hearing before Sen. Democrats are losing their grip on reality. I don’t mean that they’re going crazy. That ship sailed around the time they started saying “sex assigned at birth.” I mean, they’re literally losing the ability to shape the narratives that determine what most Americans perceive as “reality.” They know it’s happening, and they know exactly who to blame: a Trump-aligned billionaire named David Ellison. Last year, his film production company Skydance (which gave us the refreshingly patriotic “Top Gun: Maverick”) bought Paramount, giving Ellison ownership of CBS News. A few months later, he bought news site The Free Press and installed its founder — anti-woke, classical liberal Bari Weiss — as CBS’s editor-in-chief.

Thousands of American babies [born after January 20, 2025] will immediately lose their citizenship,” ACLU Legal Director Cecillia Wang told the nine justices on Wednesday morning. “And if you credit the government’s theory, the citizenship of millions of Americans past, present … could be called into question.”

Despite being on the receiving end of attacks for three weeks and counting, Gulf Arab leaders are making headlines after making it unmistakably clear they have no intention of seeking a ceasefire with Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has laid mines in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening a chokepoint through which roughly 20 percent of the world's oil supply flows, while simultaneously launching missile and drone strikes against Muslim-majority neighbors across the region. The Gulf states' refusal to stand down reflects a hard-won recognition: Iran's jihadi rulers maintain a hit list far beyond Israel and America, including the model for a peaceful Middle East pioneered by the Abraham Accords.

Pope Leo XIV used part of his Palm Sunday message to castigate the United States for attempting to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power and threatening the world with mass destruction. In doing so, the "American Pope" confused the real enemy in the war. Addressing thousands in St. Peter's Square, the Pope claimed that God rejects the prayers of leaders who wage war. He called the Iran war "atrocious" violence that cannot be justified by faith. He further said that God doesn't hear the prayers of people whose "hands (are) full of blood."

According to several reports, the Department of Homeland Security is hiring a litany of private contractors and giving them the names of thousands of migrants. The contractors are then using artificial intelligence to find the migrants. The process of using AI, public records, databases, online information and surveillance is called “skip tracing.” It’s been used by debt collectors, bail bondsmen and private investigators for years. But reports say DHS is paying private companies billions of dollars to use this process to find migrants for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

Operation Epic Fury has been a great success so far. Of course, one reason that this operation, which our Israeli allies are calling Operation Roaring Lion, has been such a success so far is that no other nations are coming to Iran's aid. Here's the thing: Iran also has some of the world's largest recoverable petroleum and natural gas reserves, one of the primary beneficiaries of which is China.
