The moves by European leaders to stymie the United States in its conflict with the Islamist Iranian regime, apparently motivated by fear of potential blowback from Tehran and its proxies, appear set to incur a far greater strategic setback as Republicans call for a complete re-assessment of the NATO alliance.
While leaders in Western Europe seemingly took the calculation that publicly rebuking U.S. President Donald Trump was in their political interest, given their largely left-liberal bases, growing Islamic populations opposed to any actions taken alongside Israel, and perhaps a belief that the MAGA base would split on the war, it appears that they have only succeeded in uniting the top brass

Seems Lindsay returned safely from Disney World, stuck his finger into the wind and bravely decreed that he was "offended".
How long will he hold that opinion? It's anyone's guess. He typically holds whatever opinion will garner him the most airtime on news programs.

It is not a good look nor does it inspire confidence that uber hawks such as Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz are now screeching about the perfidy of our European allies. From the beginning President Trump has said that we and Israel would be victorious in a short "excursion" that would render Iran incapable of inflicting the harms it has been doing for the past 40 years. Even during his speech to the nation last week President Trump declared the war almost won. Throughout the conflict he has repeatedly said that we don't need the help of our other allies. He said he would like it but that it wasn't necessary.
Forgotten by the war hawks' in their condemnation of our "feckless" allies is the sad fact that NATO and other allies twice followed the United States into wars that did not end in victory. NATO was full bore with us in Afghanistan. The United Kingdom and France, pointing to two of the countries most denigrated by Lindsay and Ted, both suffered thousands of casualties in Afghanistan for zero positive benefit. France wisely eschewed the Iraq war but Britain as well as many other countries suffered casualties only to see Iraq become a client state of Iran. The old axiom of "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me" applies here with the addition of "fool me thrice..."
Bad mouthing our allies that have in the past supported us and pretending that Israel and Eastern Europe will take their place seems to me that the war hawks and even the President fear that when all the shock and awe has ceased the Mullahs will still be in charge and now will use the Strait of Hormuz as their money maker.
If Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz are serious should stop implying, by blaming the allies, that America has failed yet again. They should work to remove all our troops from every European country, Japan and South Korea. NATO should be ended because it is no longer relevant, not because the members didn't jump to it because President Trump told them to.

#3 your take on things seems to be as a graduate of the Soros hate America training camps, and you are here as an influencer. Here are some facts:
Approximately 3,500 to 3,600 NATO-led coalition soldiers died in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2021. The United States suffered the highest number of casualties with 2,461 deaths, while over 1,000 deaths were from other NATO nations, most notably the United Kingdom (457), Canada (159), France (90), and Germany (62)
Somehow you are implying that Afghanistan started in a vacuum and that it was not in the interest (then) of NATO to stop the spread of Jihadi training grounds after 9-11.
You also do not seem to be following the bigger picture here. France and our other brave allies seem to have made a deal with Iran. Don't allow America to use their airspace, and Iran will allow oil to flow to them.
Iran has not been saying death to France, Germany, England or Austria. They have been saying Death To Israel and America.
It seems Trump has simply drawn out the weakness of "Old Europe" and it seems our only recourse by your playbook is to bend over for Islam like they have.
The other part of the bigger picture here is that Trump may not want the Straits Of Hormuz to go back to the old rules.....being that America keeps the waterway open at our cost. The other thing you are missing is that non Shia nations in the region do not want Mullahs to rule their nations, and DO NOT want a nuclear Iran setting the rules and spreading the cancer that has already infected our NATO "allies".
So I would like to benchmark here that you seem to be the Soros talking point guy slipping some propaganda under our noses. Why don't you just stay on Bluesky? I know the answer, you are here on purpose.

Ignore the troll #4.
We lost 8 American soldiers in 1980 trying to rescue our 66 hostages held by the Iranian nutters for over a year. A few minutes after Reagan took over from the feckless Carter, the Iranians agreed to release them. Gee, I wonder why?
DJT probably doesn't need to drop NATO immediately. Just close a couple of our bases and watch the local economy around them crater. Apparently, we can never do enough for the Europeans. On my one trip to France, I stood looking over the graves at the American Cemetery in Normandy. 11,000 graves. I doubt that this country is willing to make that sacrifice again for countries who can't even back us when we are trying to take out the most dangerous country in their part of the world.
Probably doesn't even matter now but I don't think the French and English women are going to like those burkas they will be made to wear if they keep allowing Muslims to take over their countries.

I ignore goofy name calling and just note that Iraq and Afghanistan were fiascos conducted by the United States along with the allies Lindsay Graham has had enough of. Third time may be a charm as I certainly hope but if one doesn’t learn from history defeat will just keep happening. I am disturbed that while this war continues some of our war mongers are looking for blame to explain a defeat that hasn’t happened.

I'm thinking the comments of Pres Trump, Sec Rubio and others to our Western European "allies," who seem to always be standing behind us ... usually far, far behind us and happy to hold their hands out for the loot. ... are meant to have the sublelty of a 2 by 4 whacking one across the head. Let's see if they get the hint.

I love the comparison of military assistance from our NATO "allies" to offers of credit from our major financial institutions. "They offer to help once you no longer need it."

A similar situation on a smaller scale once existed with Puerto Rico. We had large military bases all over the island that employed thousands of their citizens and we enjoyed the mutual benefit of having the southern route to our country protected. Caving in to the radical Independistas that insisted Puerto Rico be a sovereign nation, the Puerto Rican government ordered all of our bases closed. After the closures, the Puerto Ricans cried that so many people were now unemployed.

Re #10 - Roosevelt Roads Naval Station was closed down by the US Navy when activists including the "Reverend" Al Sharpton protested the accidental death of a security guard by a wayward bomb on Vieques Island. The US navy warned that closing operations on Vieques would cause the closure of Roost Roads and so it happened - no thanks to the locals who wanted independence from the US.

The more I see the Europeans support the Islamist who have invaded them, the more I believe their governments have submitted to Islamic domination.
