The right to keep and bear arms is a human right. Even if most other nations ignore it, having the means to defend yourself is an essential right, even if you elect not to do so. It's like free speech. It's a human right, even if you don't care to speak out about things. But all too often, it's treated like nothing of the sort, even here in the United States. People want to attach things to it that boil down to it becoming a privilege you have to look to the government to grant after a sincere, "Mother, may I?"

True, that guns are the great equalizer, and women should be able to carry. The statistics I've heard are that 90% of men are bigger, stronger, and faster than 90% of women. So, even if a woman trained to her potential peak, she's still most likely at a disadvantage in a fight with a man.

My Dad taught myself and my two sisters how to shoot when we were twelve. When I married TK he was very happy to know I knew about firearms. He gave me a .22 rifle early on in our marriage, and we used to go the range frequently until we moved to the homestead. One year for Christmas I wanted a pink stock for my rifle...I so admired Ann Burhardt. He calls it my "Barbie" gun. Fine by me if some miscreant is fooled into thinking it's not real.

Gov. Hochul’s ‘crazy like a fox’

For a couple of days, I’ve been contemplating a New York Post report about New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s apparent willingness to saddle New York, a state already drowning in debt, with another $1.5 billion in obligations. How in the world could she be so fiscally irresponsible? However, having read Mike McDaniel’s essay about blue state insolvency, I finally understand what’s going on: She knows (or, at least, assumes) that the bill will never come due. Here’s what the New York Post reported: Gov. Kathy Hochul is weighing a possible deal with a top union to allow public workers from teachers to nurses hired after 2012 to retire at 55 —

Don't look now, but FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and Jim Acosta agree on something: President Donald Trump is "winning" his effort to reshape the media landscape in his second term. Appearing on the "Power Lines" podcast with his fellow ardent leftists Oliver Darcy and Jon Passantino, Acosta glumly proclaimed, "I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that Donald Trump is winning in his, you know, quest to reshape the media in this country that he's cracked the code on how to hurt the press in the U.S." Acosta recently testified at a Democrat pseudo-hearing before Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.),

Democrats are losing their grip on reality. I don’t mean that they’re going crazy. That ship sailed around the time they started saying “sex assigned at birth.” I mean, they’re literally losing the ability to shape the narratives that determine what most Americans perceive as “reality.” They know it’s happening, and they know exactly who to blame: a Trump-aligned billionaire named David Ellison. Last year, his film production company Skydance (which gave us the refreshingly patriotic “Top Gun: Maverick”) bought Paramount, giving Ellison ownership of CBS News. A few months later, he bought news site The Free Press and installed its founder — anti-woke, classical liberal Bari Weiss — as CBS’s editor-in-chief.

Migration advocates claim that “millions” of U.S.-born children, youths, and adults could have their citizenship cancelled if the Supreme Court allows President Donald Trump’s Executive Order barring citizenship for the new children of illegal migrants to stand. Thousands of American babies [born after January 20, 2025] will immediately lose their citizenship,” ACLU Legal Director Cecillia Wang told the nine justices on Wednesday morning. “And if you credit the government’s theory, the citizenship of millions of Americans past, present … could be called into question.”

If Democrats regain unified control of U.S. federal government, pressure to federalize or normalize euthanasia will intensify. Content warning: This article includes content that may not be appropriate for some readers. Noelia Castillo Ramos, a 25-year-old survivor of multiple sexual assaults, died in Spain by legal euthanasia last week. Her life and death expose the cruelty of the left’s “compassion.” Ramos’ childhood was marred by family problems: her parents’ separation and her father’s alcohol issues. The state placed her in the foster care system when she was about 13 years old.

Despite being on the receiving end of attacks for three weeks and counting, Gulf Arab leaders are making headlines after making it unmistakably clear they have no intention of seeking a ceasefire with Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has laid mines in the Strait of Hormuz, threatening a chokepoint through which roughly 20 percent of the world's oil supply flows, while simultaneously launching missile and drone strikes against Muslim-majority neighbors across the region. The Gulf states' refusal to stand down reflects a hard-won recognition: Iran's jihadi rulers maintain a hit list far beyond Israel and America, including the model for a peaceful Middle East pioneered by the Abraham Accords.

Every year, the so-called Human Rights Campaign (HRC) demands that Fortune 500 companies publicly share their DEI/LGBT policies by participating in the HRC Corporate Equality Index (CEI).” But this year, only 131 Fortune 500 companies complied, down from the 377 that complied in 2025, as reported by Fox News.According to the HRC, this doesn’t really mean anything, as the companies that chose not to participate still have DEI/LGBT policies on their books. “While fewer companies elected to participate publicly, the data do not indicate a rollback of workplace inclusion,”

federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration unlawfully pulled the plug on nearly a million asylum-seekers who were temporarily allowed to live in the U.S. thanks to the Biden-era CBP One app. Fox News reports that the app was used by then-President Joe Biden’s administration beginning in 2023 to allow migrants to schedule appointments with immigration officials with many of the migrants being paroled into the U.S. for up to two years. On Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Allison Burroughs invalidated the Trump administration’s decision to end the immigration parole status of migrants who entered the country under the Biden-era CBP Home policy. In her ruling, Burroughs wrote,

Italy has delayed its plan to close its coal-fired power stations by more than a decade as the Iran war drives up oil and gas prices and countries around the world turn back to coal. The Telegraph has the story. In a significant reversal, the country will now continue to burn coal in at least one, and possibly up to three, power generation plants until 2038. Italy’s move comes as countries around the world, including Japan, South Korea and Germany, are turning back to coal to alleviate the spiralling energy crisis. Italy had planned to be one of the first countries in mainland Europe to phase out coal,

Trump stated this week that Iran had asked for a ceasefire, though he may have referenced a public comment from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressing openness to a ceasefire in exchange for security guarantees.

The New York Times set out Friday to embarrass President Donald Trump over his hardline stance on NATO. It wound up spectacularly backfiring on them. Several NATO nations have declined to join a U.S.-Israel military operation targeting Iran. Alliance members also refused Trump's requests to deploy their forces to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, much to the chagrin of President Trump, who figures that if NATO allies won’t help the United States, then the alliance has become meaningless. So the paper ran a piece criticizing Trump's threats to withdraw from the alliance, and the print edition’s headline asked a pointed question: "A North American Treaty Organization Without America?"

Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran’s power grid if Tehran fails to comply with US demands.
