Hegseth: Military Bases Are No Longer
Gun-Free Zones

Original Article

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has overturned the controversial rule banning firearms from military installations. Up until now, it was nearly impossible for servicemen to obtain permission to carry personal firearms on military posts and bases. That is about the change. “Not all enemies are foreign, nor are they all outside our borders,” said Hegseth in an April 2 video. “Some are domestic. Confirming your God-given right to self protection is what I'm signing into action today. And I'm proud to do so.”

Gun free zones in a military installation is a leftist absurdity, prima facie.

About time. It makes common sense for military personnel to carry, they probably have more experience than you or I on handling a weapon. If they had weapons at the time of these assassinations, the killings would have been averted. Over in Israel, young men and women about 17+ y.o., in the military, carry weapons. It is mandatory for them to protect their Country.

It's about time. No guns on base and the armories were locked up left the bases basically open to attack. Base security is armed but that is not enough to protect a base. Military is trained to handle weapons so why not allow all to carry a weapon.

After an increase in fragging in Vietnam we were no longer allowed to keep our firearms in our barracks. That didn't make me feel less safe, being on a navy airbase in Cam Ranh, but it was a significant inconvenience when sappers roamed our base. It also interfered with any maintenance of my sidearm.

It's no wonder that the royalty in the US Military did not approve of Pete Hegseth, who has proven to be one of the best SecDefs ever. He has made the previous management, Milley and Austin, look like two of the Three Stooges.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday vowed to rain “hell” on Iran if it fails to reach a ceasefire deal or open the Strait of Hormuz by Monday, when time runs out on an ultimatum that he has extended twice. Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran’s power grid if Tehran fails to comply with US demands. On Saturday, a senior Israeli defense official said Israel was preparing to attack Iranian energy facilities, likely within the next week, but was awaiting a green light from the US.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth leads the Pentagon, and the Air Force that serves underneath him sent an internal email to over 3,500 employees on Good Friday, reminding staff about the Good Friday service at the Pentagon Chapel. The memo stated that a Protestant service would take place, while adding in plain terms that there would be no Catholic Mass. A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed that the Protestant service stood as the only one scheduled that day. A report from the liberal HuffPost raised eyebrows among critics for suggesting Catholics were being excluded

The State Department has added business formal dress code guidance to its internal policy manual for the first time, establishing department-wide standards for employee attire. The changes, implemented in recent days in the Foreign Affairs Manual — the department’s central repository for policies — mark the first time the agency has formally codified expectations for how diplomats and staff should dress in official settings. "Representing the United States of America is an honor — and this new policy ensures our diplomats project credibility, respect, and the dignity of the nation we serve," Assistant Secretary Dylan Johnson told Fox News Digital. The updated policy applies broadly across

The New York Times set out Friday to embarrass President Donald Trump over his hardline stance on NATO. It wound up spectacularly backfiring on them. Several NATO nations have declined to join a U.S.-Israel military operation targeting Iran. Alliance members also refused Trump's requests to deploy their forces to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, much to the chagrin of President Trump, who figures that if NATO allies won’t help the United States, then the alliance has become meaningless. So the paper ran a piece criticizing Trump's threats to withdraw from the alliance, and the print edition’s headline asked a pointed question: "A North American Treaty Organization Without America?"

The United States has revoked the permanent residency of two women related to Qassem Soleimani, the late major general who led Iran’s Quds Force, the foreign branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), from 1998 until his assassination in 2020. In a statement on Saturday, the US Department of State revealed that Soleimani’s niece, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, and her daughter were arrested on Friday night. Both are currently being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as the US seeks their departure from the country. The case raises questions about the limits of free speech rights in the US

Illinois Democrat Sen. Tammy Duckworth sent a letter to the Transportation Security Administration on Friday demanding the agency rescind its "shoes-on" policy, according to a report. In a letter obtained by CBS News, Duckworth called the policy a "reckless act" that may be placing flight passengers at risk. Duckworth also warned that the policy was likely implemented "without meaningful consultation with TSA," citing an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general that found it created a new security vulnerability in airport screening systems. The IG's classified report found that TSA scanners are unable to effectively screen shoes, raising concerns that threat items could evade detection. The report was allegedly buried

In a development raising red flags across the Atlantic, Britain’s Labour government has appointed the UK’s first “anti-Muslim hostility tsar” and adopted a new definition of anti-Muslim hostility — reframed from “Islamophobia” — as part of its £4 million social cohesion strategy. The definition describes such hostility as “a type of racism” targeting “expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness,” including prejudicial stereotyping that could incite hatred. Officials claim it addresses record-high anti-Muslim hate crimes while protecting free speech. Critics, however, see it as a potential censorship tool that could limit scrutiny of Islamic extremism, grooming gangs, or integration challenges.

President Donald Trump on Friday proposed to begin privatizing airport security operations handled by the Transportation Security Administration, in an effort to save money. The White House budget proposes cutting funding for the federal agency created after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by $52 million and would require small airports to enroll in a program in which TSA pays for private screeners. TSA has about 50,000 federal employees who handle screening at nearly all U.S. airports. Budget documents released on Friday said airports currently using the privatization program have demonstrated savings compared to federal screening operations. In recent weeks, major U.S. airports suffered massive disruptions after TSA security officers went unpaid since mid-February

And that not guilty verdict of murder in the first degree landed like a gut punch to the entire New York City Police Department.
