~As Month Two begins, the war continues to widen: Many dissatisfied Steyn Club members have accused me of fighting the last war. (Snip}Yesterday, for example, another dozen US servicemen were wounded and multiple refuelling aircraft were crippled at the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. America's military bases in the Gulf are some of the most expensive on the planet, and yet, as with the killing fields of eastern Ukraine, they're highly vulnerable to drones that cost a few thousand bucks. Result? "Iran's Attacks Force U.S. Troops to Work Remotely"

Comments:

As he himself acknowledges, Steyn is not a pom pom waver as far as Epic Fury is concerned. His reasons for skepticism are based on the United States' history of failure in the Middle East, although he asserts that Donald Trump is completely unlike any previous Commander-in-Chief. As tomorrow begins week five of the conflict I am starting to question the assurances of the President, the Secretary of War and the pom pom boys that Iran is on the verge of collapse. After reading several of the links within this article that report many of our bases in the area are uninhabitable due to Iranian strikes I long for a purely factual and sober account of the status of this war.

After seeing all the military drones and missiles that Iran has amassed it is hard to successfully claim that Iran Is not a threat to countries as far away as Europe, and surely the world if they had put nuclear warheads on their missiles, and who is to say that the Iranians have not produced and hidden intercontinental ballistic missiles that could reach US shores, to use at what the Mad Mullahs consider the right moment. One thing is for sure the Iranians don’t need to put intelligence agents abroad to see what battle damage their drones and missiles have caused, as all they have to do is watch the USA leftist Democrat aligned media to find out if their drones and missiles hit their targets, what battle damaged they caused, including finding out how many US Military service members that they successfully killed and wounded.

bear in mind Iran is the 17th largest country in the world, larger than most of Europe combined, 4 times the size of Iraq, 1/2 the size of India, if overlayed on the US map it takes up a similar amount of territory eastward of a line between Chicago and Mobile, excluding the Fla peninsula and part of Maine. It is approx the same size as Alaska. The "Regime" HAS been changed, as it was based upon a "Supreme Leader" for Life...NO ONE knows or can Know what will come next, but we can say what will NOT.

The mopey assessments get a little boring. Iran's offensive capabilities have been severely degraded. They had massive amounts of drones and missiles squirreled away in underground hidey holes. The reality that some of those assets remain undiscovered after a month is NOT surprising. The attacks on oil shipping is not a surprise. The ability to do that is also being degraded. The Houthis launching some attacks from Yemen to support their Iranian puppet masters is not surprising. The Iranians launching missiles against European areas (they lied about their range) is not surprising. ALL of this PROVES the REAL threat Iran was. All this certifies the requirement for the scope of the actions taken. Iran was NEVER going to be negotiated into peace and soon we would have been fighting a nuclear war with an insane country. Further, we would never get the weaklings of the world to form a coalition to deal with Iran. Fixing the problem by any other means was a fantasy. Can we win a war to severely degrade Iran's military capabilities? Undeniably YES. This will give us a respite from Iranian threats. The harder, long term fix, was for Iranians to depose the Islamic rulers. That has NEVER been a sure thing and Trump and other KNOW IT and have STATED it. We are working to make the country safe enough for an Iranian opposition against the Islamists to step forward without being massacred by the IRGC. That's a work in progress and will always carry some risk for the opposition and probably for us. What we should take away from this encounter is that an Islamic Iran was a bigger threat than we knew and the only thing they will bargain for is more time to implement their Islamic domination plans. I would ask Steyn and others, besides whining and moping, what was your alternative (effective) plan to deal with Iran? ... crickets.

It's called "opinion" for a reason. Steyn gets it right most of the time but sometimes not. You can not call the outcome of a chess game until one King or the other falls on his face. Questioning the conclusions of VDH is a huge leap since he is probably the best historian in the country.

Time to dust off the "Mission Accomplished" banner? ~A Thought for the Day from David Blair in our comments section: It's time to move past your reticence to have initiated the war and get behind Trump. Your fear that it might end badly is noted. "Get behind Trump"? That might be better directed at Vance, Gabbard, Kennedy and other cabinet members whose discomfort with the strange turn of events is palpable either through their sudden absence from public life or when they're testifying to Congress and trying to walk the fine line between not getting fired now and not getting impeached by the incoming Democrat majority in January.

~This news is too sad. From Old Dominion University in Virginia: The victim of the terrorist attack at Old Dominion has been identified as Lt. Col. So Colonel Shah survived the century's worthless unwon wars including "America's longest war" - Operation Enduring Freedom (how'd that endure, by the way?) - only to come home and die at the hands of one of his "fellow Americans" screaming - go on, take a wild guess; yeah, bingo! - "Allahu Akbar!"

The Trump administration’s messaging on America’s military involvement in Iran has been, to put it lightly, a mess. And it’s clear after listening to his remarks about the conflict that Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is not helping the situation. Since the U.S.-Israeli-led operation against Tehran began, Graham has rushed to every microphone and television camera available to express his unbridled enthusiasm about the campaign. When he isn’t bragging about how much money the U.S. is going to make as a result of the conflict, he’s calling for more American intervention in countries like Cuba and Lebanon.

President Donald Trump's push to seize Greenland might be the least popular idea in American political history. Is that hyperbole? If so, that's only because reliable and fast public polling is a relatively recent development within our 250-year experiment in self-governance. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found a staggering 4 percent of Americans favor the idea of seizing Greenland with military force. Among Republicans, the idea is actually twice as popular: 8 percent say taking the island is a "good idea."

It’s like a pandemic: Weekly news reports of yet another teacher arrested for having an erotic relationship with a student – often a young, attractive female exploiting a teen male under the age of consent. But this phenomenon of “educator sexual misconduct,” or ESM, is not as bad as it appears. In fact, it’s worse. Such stories evoke the prurient pop music theme found in the rock band Van Halen’s 1984 tune “Hot For Teacher.” However, in the real world, the overwhelming majority of these criminal relationships are never disclosed and prosecuted, and their destructive impact on victims goes largely unreported.
