During oral arguments at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson made her case for why the children of foreign tourists ought to qualify for birthright American citizenship if they are born in the United States while their parents are on vacation. The case, known as Trump v. Barbara, will decide whether or not President Donald Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship for the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens and foreign tourists, often referred to as “anchor babies,” is constitutional. During an exchange with the ACLU’s Cecillia Wang, who is arguing that the order is unconstitutional, Jackson seemingly made a case for why birthright citizenship should extend to foreigners

The disclosures show Swalwell returned to Qatar repeatedly over multiple years, even after he was slammed for taking an $84,000 trip with a few other lawmakers to the Gulf emirate in 2021 sponsored by the U.S.-Qatar Business Council. In addition to that trip, filings from the House of Representatives clerk show Swalwell also went to Doha in 2020, twice in 2022, once in 2023 and once in 2024,

Some conservative-leaning justices had hard questions for Solicitor General John Sauer on Wednesday when he argued to reverse nearly 130 years of precedent on birthright citizenship, as President Donald Trump was in attendance. The case involves Trump’s executive order instructing agencies not to recognize citizenship for U.S.-born children without at least one parent who is an American citizen. Birthright citizenship is the view that anyone born in the United States—even a child of illegal immigrants—is automatically a U.S. citizen. Sauer noted during Wednesday’s oral arguments that China has 500 birth tourism companies that bring women to the United States to give birth and return to China

In this latest salvo to combat illegal migration, the DOJ has effectively shut down the Recognition and Accreditation program, created in 1983, which is part of the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review,

The U.S. Department of Labor has opened a 60-day public comment period on a proposed rule that would increase required wages for employers hiring foreign workers through programs such as H-1B visas and permanent labor certifications. The recent massive U.S. strike near Iran’s central city of Isfahan likely sought to render Tehran’s remaining highly enriched uranium stockpile inaccessible by burying it deep underground — a strategy that would negate the need for a prolonged and risky U.S. ground operation to extract the material, according to an Israeli military analyst writing Tuesday. Writing in Ynet on Tuesday, Israeli military analyst Ron Ben-Yishai — a veteran Yediot Ahronot correspondent and Israel Prize recipient — assessed that the strike reflects a deliberate U.S. effort to neutralize Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile by entombing it beneath rock, soil, and collapsed tunnel infrastructure rather than attempting to remove it by force.
