Facts are a harsh mistress. And nobody seems more incapable of grasping facts than Democrats in general, and New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul in particular. In her latest embarrassing slip-up, the climate law she supported, and the Empire States ever-more-onerous taxes are driving all the wealthy people, the people who start and run businesses and provide jobs, out of the state. Now, because of the green policies, utility rates are climbing, meaning that a big chunk of the rest of the residents of New York are looking to the exits as well. Now Governor Hochul wants to delay full implementation of the lunatic climate laws,

Jeff Webb, a man seen as a “mentor” to the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, died Thursday at the age of 76 from a pickleball accident.
Varsity Spirit, the cheerleading organization founded by Webb, announced that Webb suffered from severe head trauma after falling during a pickleball game two weeks before his death. His family eventually decided to take him off life support.
Webb was a conservative political activist and close confidant to Kirk, who died from a gunshot wound to the neck on Sept. 10, 2025. He frequently spoke about Kirk’s impact following the assassination, and once said the nation lost a potential future president.
The family of Sheridan Gorman, the 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago freshman gunned down near the campus by an illegal alien, unleashed a blistering condemnation of anyone suggesting she somehow contributed to her own killing by being in the "wrong place at the wrong time."
The damning response comes as Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden suggested Gorman and her friends may have unintentionally startled the armed suspect.
"The kids were out doing normal things people do in the neighborhood," Hadden told Fox 32. "They may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, running into a person who had a gun."

Go on and accuse me of indulging in hyperbole — and I'll grant you that not literally everything is stupid — but your 2028 Democrats really are engaged in a contest to present themselves to the public as the most damaged.

The international covid shutdowns were among the worst public policy disasters (or crimes) of modern times, and yet there has been no accountability. In the Telegraph, Daniel Hannan sums up the effects of the shutdowns on Britain: “Six years on, the Covid lockdowns are still ruining our lives.”

As the “endless” conflict in Iran neared third weeks old, it continued to dominate the news and, to a large extent, the memes. Reports of a gay Ayatollah prompted a great deal of meme-merriment. Of course there was other news: the Democrats’ shutdown of DHS continued, freedom for Cuba glimmered on the horizon, Chuck Norris died. Allegedly. And, finally–Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Oh wait, one more thing–reportedly there was some kind of party in Hollywood last week, but I don’t know anything about it because no one watched it.

Anno Domini 2020 changed America, and not for the better. The canonization of Saint George Floyd of Fentanyl birthed the “Summer of Love” that badly damaged the blue cities that embraced it, and did worse damage to American’s respect for the rule of law. An Air Canada flight arriving at LaGuardia Airport crashed into a rescue truck on Sunday night — leaving two pilots dead and two Port Authority cops seriously injured, according to sources.

Rutte explained that the good news was that 22 countries were coming together to make sure that the Strait of Hormuz was free.
