Remembering the Shutdowns

The international covid shutdowns were among the worst public policy disasters (or crimes) of modern times, and yet there has been no accountability. In the Telegraph, Daniel Hannan sums up the effects of the shutdowns on Britain: “Six years on, the Covid lockdowns are still ruining our lives.” Was there truly a legal argument about whether a Scotch egg counted as a meal? Were we actually offered guidance on the correct way to have sex (avoid kissing and, if possible, keep your mask on)? And that weird ritual whereby, when restaurants reopened, we would put our masks on to walk to our table and then remove them.

I think that The Lockdown was made possible in America ONLY because many people believed the medical establishment, which had built up a large reservoir of credibility through decades of hard honest work in the service of overall protecting and improving people's health. Older people still remember Polio and the Polio vaccine program. People went along believing that their actions were to preserve not only their own health, but the health of their communities, and indeed, the nation as a whole. That credibility, along with a media onslaught of how deadly the Covid bug was, convinced the American people to largely go along with the various Government mandates and restrictions, at least for a while. President Trump, meaning for the best, issued an executive order that anyone who was sick with Covid could receive treatment, and the Federal government would pick up the tab, The medical and insurance industries jumped on this like flies on excrement, and suddenly EVERYONE had 'the Covid'. One example stands out, a young man was gravely injured in a motorcycle crash, but the hospital declared that he died 'WITH Covid', and charged the Federal government -the American taxpayers- with the substantial cost of treating him before he died from his injuries sustained in the crash. This "they were sick from something else, but they were WITH Covid" was repeated on an Industrial scale. There was NO FLU that year! Everyone was diagnosed 'with Covid', and the hospitals and the insurance companies dumped the treatment costs on the Taxpayers. President Trump, again meaning for the best, also pushed the big pharmaceutical companies to develop a vaccine at 'Warp Speed'. How was he to know how they would pervert his intent and make it a giant cash machine? Fauchi and his minions, with the Lamestreams in full-throated support, flooded the zone with Covid horror stories, while at the same time hiding the ill effects of the 'Clot Shot' -treatments that they falsely labelled 'vaccines'. It did not take long for the virus to mutate many times and become less and less dangerous. But the medical-bureaucratic-totalitarian-industry combine was still ramping up its restrictions. Prominent doctors and medical researchers who raised ANY questions about the safety or effectiveness of The Shot were silenced, 'de-platformed' from the Internet web sites, denounced, lost their medical licenses, and were locked out of their hospitals and laboratories. Lower-level medical personnel - experienced nurses working in large hospitals, were immediately FIRED for just asking if a report should be filed documenting the evil effects of The Shot. Stories of doctors in foreign countries who had successfully prevented and treated Covid with inexpensive, commonly-available medicines, were hushed up and denounced as false. That doctors in India found that, where Hydroxychloroquine was commonly taken to ward off malaria, there was almost no Covid, was hushed up, along with other reports, such as Utter Pradish in India, where doctors successfully treated Covid with a combination of Zinc and Ivermectin, achieving a fatality rate much lower than that in the USA and Japan. Ivermectin -an inexpensive medication which has many uses in human as well as veterinary medicine- was demonized as 'Horse Paste', Hydroxy treatments were demonized as well. To maintain the Lie, ALL sources of the Truth had to be Silenced. The ONLY Official Treatment was The Shot- given to people for a nominal cost, or for free, but for which the Pharmaceutical companies billed the Federal government -the American taxpayers- Billion$. Eventually, the truth started seeping out via various independent, truth-seeking outlets on the Internet. That The Shot would not prevent one from contracting Covid, and would not prevent one from transmitting it to someone else. The Lamestreams changed the story to "But the symptoms will be less." Booster, after Booster, after Booster.... each new version supposedly intended to treat a new variation of the fast-evolving Covid, were pushed on the people. As the various boosters piled up, so did the ill effects. Stories, and more stories, and more stories - of grave illnesses, of huge, never-before-seen blood clots found by pathologists who were preparing deceased people's bodies for burial, stories of other grave illnesses never seen before, such as young, healthy people developing myocarditis, having heart attacks, leaked out. Many commercial and military pilots -who were required to take The Shot- were grounded when routine medical exams showed heart damage- that had never been seen before in this population. When a star player of a national soccer team DROPS DEAD ON THE FIELD from a heart attack in the middle of an internationally live-televised match, it's hard to cover that up! Slowly, the skepticism grew, and Fauchi's and the Lamestream's lies were exposed. Now, years later, we are seeing reports of 'Turbo Cancers' -in those people who took The Shot. More and more research is pointing to Fauchi working with a lab in China to develop and increase the ability of the Covid to infect humans. The question has come up more than a few times- Did China unleash the Covid on the world to influence the American Presidential election? The Covid certainly panicked several State governments to impose mail-in ballots on an emergency basis -bypassing their Legislatures- which were then widely used to flood the system with fake ballots for Biden. In several 'swing' states where president Trump was comfortably ahead late on election night, the ballot counting stopped, then in the wee hours of the morning, mysterious large batches of ballots -overwhelmingly marked for Biden- appeared and were added to the count, putting Biden ahead. investigations were quashed or stalled, the ballot counts were 'certified' and Biden was installed in the White House. The whole process- the Covid, the Panic, the Over-Reaction, the Media Lies, the Smothering of Dissent, the suspicious Election- has put a strong sour taste in the mouths of many people. Will the American people fall for this again? It would have to be a pretty good story to pull a repeat!

As we wrote earlier, the United States Senate is debating and voting as part of a rare weekend session with the ultimate aim of hammering into law free and fair elections across the country with things like voter ID required at the polls, among other common sense items, in the SAVE America Act. As readers likely have seen over time, the Democrats seem to take women for granted for their votes, something that may prove incorrect in the upcoming midterms, after some of today's votes putting them on record.

Facts are a harsh mistress. And nobody seems more incapable of grasping facts than Democrats in general, and New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul in particular. In her latest embarrassing slip-up, the climate law she supported, and the Empire States ever-more-onerous taxes are driving all the wealthy people, the people who start and run businesses and provide jobs, out of the state. Now, because of the green policies, utility rates are climbing, meaning that a big chunk of the rest of the residents of New York are looking to the exits as well. Now Governor Hochul wants to delay full implementation of the lunatic climate laws,

Sun Tzu was a Chinese general who lived around 544–496 BC. He is traditionally regarded as the author of The Art of War, frequently quoted for his good sense concerning the initiation and prosecution of war. In these testing times, it seemed appropriate to have a skim through what he had to say and pick out some of his maxims and consider who, if anyone, has been following them in recent weeks: All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away,

As the “endless” conflict in Iran neared third weeks old, it continued to dominate the news and, to a large extent, the memes. Reports of a gay Ayatollah prompted a great deal of meme-merriment. Of course there was other news: the Democrats’ shutdown of DHS continued, freedom for Cuba glimmered on the horizon, Chuck Norris died. Allegedly. And, finally–Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Oh wait, one more thing–reportedly there was some kind of party in Hollywood last week, but I don’t know anything about it because no one watched it. So, as they say, without further ado:

Anno Domini 2020 changed America, and not for the better. The canonization of Saint George Floyd of Fentanyl birthed the “Summer of Love” that badly damaged the blue cities that embraced it, and did worse damage to American’s respect for the rule of law. And the multitude of hoaxes foisted on Americans by our public health establishment over Covid did probably irreversible damage to American’s faith in those public health bureaucrats in particular and science in general. To be sure, Americans still recognize the difference between actual scientists rigorously employing the Scientific Method as opposed to political hacks and power seekers employing angry, arrogant rhetoric, but few if any

IT’S FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 2026. March Madness is finally here—a special time when the vast majority of Americans, who don’t agree on much these days, can come together for the singular purpose of hating Duke. In case you hadn’t noticed, Donald Trump is having an incredible run. Neocon Don is off the leash and serving up peak-era Trump quotes like it’s 2016. He rattled off a hall-of-fame response in the Oval Office on Thursday after a Japanese reporter asked him why he didn’t give U.S. allies a heads-up before bombing Iran. “We didn’t tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise,” Trump said while sitting next to the Japanese prime minister.

It's got to be weird to be Dolores Huerta right now. The truth came out about the Jim Jones-like cult style of her partner and co-founder of the United Farmworkers Union, Cesar Chavez, who, according to the New York Times, was a molestor of young girls, and up until then had been hailed as a kind of civil rights god. With Chavez now being swiftly cancelled -- in record time, no less (where is Tom Wolfe when we need him?) -- now all the public holidays, street names, parks, libraries, schools, scholarships, naval ships, and biographies, have got to be changed, too. The most important contemporary phenomenon for our politics and, perhaps, for the future of our country is the ongoing sorting of our citizens into red and blue states. The dynamic is pretty simple: people are leaving blue states for red states, with the single exception of those whose first priority is lavish welfare benefits, who therefore seek out blue states. This might seem like a terrible deal for the blue states, and of course it is, in the long term. But meanwhile, things are not all bad for Democratic politicians.
