Virginia Democrats have planned a statewide referendum with perhaps the most diabolically Orwellian question in the history of modern democracy.
“Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?”
Obviously, relatively disengaged voters will see this question and go, “Restore fairness? Sure, I vote yes.” So let me break down what it actually means.
First, newly empowered Virginia Dems redrew the maps for House seats in the most comical fashion.
Here’s the old map. And here’s the redrawn map.

Who approves how these ballot initiatives are written? Obviously the Dem controlled General Assembly. When will Republicans office holders learn to fight?

Which "Progressive" billionaire-funding-general donate his farm for the next National Cemetery?
Or will MAGA lose and lie in mass graves scattered according to convenience?

Repubs are 45% of the voters, win a clear majority of counties and precincts but will have only ONE of the 11 seats? The new map is an gerrymandered Octopus, with it's body in DC, it's tentacles radiating south, ignoring all precinct, county, district lines.

The democrat plan is to make it as difficult as possible for any Republican to win an election. When your party accounts for 45% of the registered voters but are represented by 1 out of 10 congressional seats, you have a problem. Democrats are intentionally working to disenfranchise Republicans. But this same party will scream bloody murder if you require ID because it supposedly disenfranchises people. Well it does i guess. The dead.

Districts should be determined by established, legal boundries, i.e. counties, townships, etc. and not be subject to periodic, arbitrary "redrawings" carried out solely to favor a particular party.

Yet another reason to keep the pressure on the do-little Republican Senate until it passes the SAVE Act.

I am one of the 45% of conservatives/Republicans in Virginia. It certainly doesn't seem "FAIR" to me that the Dems can gerrymander the districts so that 45% only have one representative and the other 55% have 10. That's some strange math they are using if they think there's anything fair about it. They know it isn't fair but they don't care because they see it as a way to get control. If they thought it was fair, it wouldn't be presented as a temporary fix for the next elections. By 2030, there won't be any Republicans in the state holding office and the Dems will just make this temporary fix permanent.

The left does not care about "fair".
They will do what it takes to hold onto power.
They don't care about being caught lying.
They don't care about being caught breaking the law.
The don't care about being caught contradicting themselves on their political positions.
They threw away the rule book years ago.

There are certain words that should be disallowed in political discourse, and certainly in proposed bills, one of them is "fair," another one is, "recovery," while yet another is, "equity." If Democrats use any of them, you can bet your last dollar the result will be the opposite.

If I remember correctly, Virginia has the procedure for defining congressional districts defined in its constitution. There is no such thing as a temporary constitutional amendment in their constitution. There is no procedure for amending their constitution is very deliberate that requires considerable time to accomplish. This is a blatant attempt to override the constitution illegally. The Democrats claim they defend Democracy. This would be a destruction of democracy.

#6 I have a better idea. Divide the state in the middle horizontally snd vertically- 4 representatives per state. One senator per state only elected by the governor like originally was. Imagine how much trash you take out of DC. No more gerrymandering.

The Democrats just did this in California. Successfully got electorate to vote to wipe out five Republican Congressional district sand gerrymandered them into Blue Congressional districts using the same "fairness" argument. With a little bit of Trump hatred rhetoric thrown in, too. Fairness to Democrats means no or very few Republicans.
