On the House floor Crockett declared, “We’re gonna expose it all!” Narrator: “She only exposed her backside — and her incompetence.”

The Trump administration filed a federal suit Thursday against California and its public university systems, alleging the practice of offering in-state college tuition rates to undocumented immigrants who graduate from California high schools is illegal. The suit, which named Gov. Gavin Newsom, state Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta, the UC Board of Regents, the Cal State University Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors for the California Community Colleges, also seeks to end provisions in the California Dream Act that allow students who lack documentation to apply for state-funded financial aid. “California is illegally discriminating against American students and families by offering exclusive tuition benefits for non-citizens,”

CHICAGO -- At least five people were shot Friday night in the Loop, according to a Chicago alderman. There was a large Chicago police presence in the 100 block of North State Street, where at least two people were shot just before 10 p.m., sources said. The shooting happened during a very busy night downtown, after the city held its official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The reports of gunfire were right outside ABC7's State Street studios.

Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of JFK, has less than a year to live after being diagnosed with terminal leukemia, she announced Saturday. “Maybe my brain is replaying my life now because I have a terminal diagnosis, and all these memories will be lost,” she writes in a searing article about her condition in the New Yorker. A lawsuit filed Thursday by residents of central Louisiana challenges whether a state can legally take private property for private carbon capture and sequestration projects. The lawsuit, filed in the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge, claims laws passed since 2020 violate the state constitution by allowing companies engaged in carbon capture and storage to use eminent domain for private gain.

Video footage located by congressional investigators shows the still-unidentified Jan. 6 pipe bomber's first stop was the Congressional Black Caucus building, but no explosive device was discovered there, raising new questions about the suspect's goals and motivations ahead of the Capitol riot. A shooting at a Christmas tree lighting event in Concord, North Carolina, on Friday left four people wounded, according to police. Concord Police said three victims were listed in critical condition and one was in stable condition. All four victims were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. The shooting happened at the city’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Union Street S near the intersection with Corban Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. Police, Concord Fire and Cabarrus County EMS personnel were already at the event and responded immediately with medical aid and evacuation efforts. The remainder of the event was canceled after the shooting.

Trainers walked attendees through step-by-step exercises on how to track federal agents, film detainment encounters, and alert neighborhoods when immigration officers appear in the area. Volunteers acted out mock arrest scenarios while trainees practiced recording the encounters, shouting scripted warnings, and instructing “detainees” on what to say when approached by law enforcement.

The U.S. Postal Service announced that it will increase prices for most shipping services beginning January 18, 2026, pending regulatory approval, as the self-funded agency works to narrow persistent financial losses. HOMOSASSA, Fla. — An 84-year-old Citrus County beekeeper has been reunited with most of his stolen beehives after his story went viral, generating more than 2 million views and prompting volunteers to help return the insects that serve as his primary source of income. Richard Marquette discovered someone had removed 20 active beehives from his property in July, taking away his main source of income.
