This month, the Department of Education released its latest edition of the National Assessment of Educational Progress, the standardized tests better known as the Nation’s Report Card. The results have left me blazing with rage. In my home state of California, for instance, only 30% of public school fourth graders can read proficiently. Fully 41% cannot even read at a basic level — which is to say, they cannot really understand and interpret written text at all. Eighth graders, as you might expect, look almost as bad. These numbers have been tumbling downhill in California and more widely across the U.S. for years now,

This is hard for me to understand. How do they use their phones? All emojis and code? Ignorant people (of any intelligence level) are very easy to control. Wise people (also can be any intelligence level) can get more done, faster, and more effectively.

An excellent education is one of the least expensive gifts to give a young person. Conversely, school district after school district continuously prove that a lousy education is not only a waste of hundreds of thousands of dollars but also a waste of the lives and futures of our children. HOMESCHOOL!

I live on the Mississippi coast, in one of the best-rated school districts in the state. One of my three children was a 'National Merit Finalist', and the other two were, academically, right on her heels. My wife and I both worked hard to educate our kids, working with them to learn and to excel in school, with my wife and her friends also doing a lot of volunteer work at the school to make the school better. I was aware that the state and local governments have put a lot of effort into improving the schools both in my area and across the state, and that the scores have been improving. Reading the article made me aware of just how much the schools here have improved. Mississippi, long a synonym for poorly educated children and poor people in general, is now hailed as the 'Mississippi Miracle', most improved in the nation and joining the ranks of the best schools in the nation. Funny though, 'old stereotypes die hard'. You would things were still the 'bad old days' if you got your news from ABC News or the New York Slymes, people walking around 'down here' barefoot with mud squishing up between their toes. Maybe some of these Leftists states should wake up and Kick Out the groups that appear to be most against the changes needed to improve education, the leftist Teachers Unions!

The Case for a Citizen-Only Census 4 replies

Who is the census for? Or more importantly, who does Congress represent? If you answered "U.S. citizens," you're correct – or at least you should be. At the start of each decade, the federal government tallies who's living in the country and where, citizens and non-citizens alike. That census data determines how many seats in the House of Representatives each state receives, as well as its share of Electoral College votes for president. This whole process is mandated by Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution, the part most focused on proper representation. But representation for whom? Since 1790, anyone and everyone living within America's borders, "excluding Indians not taxed."

Former Vice President Kamala Harris released the full version of her tell-all political memoir last week, writing in intense detail about the 107 days of her presidential campaign and what she believes were the moments that ultimately cost her the presidency. The book pulls back the curtain on Harris’s historically short presidential run. But in doing so, it has somehow managed to put the Democratic Party in a worse spot than it once was. It also did Harris herself no favors as she contemplates another shot at the White House. As longtime Democratic operative David Axelrod put it, “If there’s a political strategy here (for Harris), it’s a bad one.”

Former Rep. Devin Nunes suggested during an interview with Maria Bartiromo on FNC's "Sunday Morning Futures" that the latest charges against former FBI Director James Comey aren't everything, suggesting "a grand conspiracy charge... against probably about two dozen characters in the United States over the last seven, eight years." DEVIN NUNES: I think Comey should consider himself lucky, Maria, number one, that he wasn't treated like Roger Stone was treated, who had a very similar charge, where they actually raided his home at 6:00 a.m., drug him out.

We have no idea whether the current DOJ indictments will lead to a conviction of James Comey, namely that he authorized FBI subordinates to leak to the media and then lied about it, obstructing Congress in the process. It may come down to the word of Comey, a known fabricator, against the testimony of his former subordinate, Andrew McCabe, an admitted liar. Take your pick. We know, however, that Comey is not facing a Trumpian $500 million in potential fines, nor 93 indictments, nor the scrutiny of five different local, state, and federal prosecutors. Nor, like some of the J6 arrested, will he be sent to solitary confinement
Denmark bans civil drones after more sightings 1 reply

Denmark on Sunday ordered a ban on civil drone flights, after several unmanned aerial vehicles were witnessed at military facilities overnight, following a week in which drone sorties caused the temporary closures of several airports in the Nordic country. The Danish military said it had deployed "several capacities" in response to the overnight drone sightings. Earlier this week, drones forced Denmark to close its airports, including Copenhagen Airport, which was closed for nearly four hours on Monday. Denmark has called the drones part of a "hybrid attack" but the government has stopped short of saying definitively who it believes is behind the missions.

In the matter of James Brien Comey Jr., how finds the court? I do not mean a court of law. I mean the tribunal of history. Granted, we will be hearing from a Virginia court of law about JBC quite soon. On Thursday, Comey became the first former FBI director in history to be indicted by a grand jury for a felony. The charges? Lying to Congress and obstructing justice. (For the legal eagles among you, the statutes in question are USC 18 §1001 and USC 18 §1505.)

Vindictive former FBI Director James Comey’s power trip is finally over as he has learned the “rule of law” he so often speaks of applies to him too. A federal grand jury has indicted Comey for obstructing a congressional investigation into the disclosure of sensitive information and with making false statements to the federal government, according to a DOJ statement. The false statements charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, which means Comey may be fitted for the prison jumpsuit he so dearly wanted to see President Donald Trump wear.

The Justice Department’s announcement that former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of making a false statement and obstruction of a congressional proceeding is all but a fait accompli. Pious, sanctimonious self-righteousness and hypocritical moralizing had long ago cost him his professional reputation. With charges of perjury and obstruction, Comey could face imprisonment.

The pain of a government shutdown won’t just be political: Millions of low-income women and children could be left hungry as soon as next week if congressional Democrats and the White House do not come to a deal. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children will soon run out of funding. If they don’t cut a deal to keep the government open, a senior White House official told RealClearPolitics, “Democrats would be turning their back on WIC recipients.” Called WIC for short, the program provides vouchers for healthy food to low-income pregnant and postpartum women,

Kamala Harris’s book 107 Days confirms two truths: Joe Biden never should have sought re-election and she did not belong on a national ticket. Biden was snared by Father Time and hubris. The 46th president was not the transformational figure he saw in the mirror. More than half the US rated him a failure. “People hate Joe Biden,” Harris quotes David Plouffe, her senior strategist and an Obama White House veteran, as saying. What’s unstated is that Harris was never a vote-magnet.

Mayor Eric Adams’ decision to end his mayoral campaign is unsurprising. The scandal-tarred incumbent was running a poor fourth in most polls and had no chance of re-election. His choice nonetheless can have important repercussions. His withdrawal was the first domino to fall in the series of events Andrew Cuomo needs to have any shot of beating Zohran Mamdani in November. The polls clearly show how hard Cuomo’s task is. The Real Clear Politics polling average has Mamdani ahead by a whopping 18.7 percentage points. More importantly, it shows Mamdani receiving 44.4% of the total vote. That’s already likely to be enough to win in anything short of a two-man race.

On January 3, 2017, just 17 days before Donald Trump’s inauguration, Obama signed a modification to Executive Order 12333, authorizing the National Security Agency (NSA) to share raw signals intelligence (SIGINT) with all 16 other intelligence agencies — including the FBI, the CIA, and even obscure agencies like the Drug Enforcement Administration’s intel wing.
