Jimmy Kimmel Live! enjoyed a short-lived ratings bonanza after his triumphant post-suspension return to ABC. Kimmel's late night show returned to screens on Tuesday with record-breaking ratings, after he was suspended for five days over remarks he made about Charlie Kirk's assassination. As many as 6.5 million people tuned to Kimmel on Tuesday, which was a three times the show's usual audience and the biggest in over a decade. (Snip) Notably, Kimmel lost 73 percent of the viewers in the coveted demographic of adults aged 25-54, getting just 465,000. Typically, Kimmel gets about 1.8 million viewers each night on television.

Comments:

One and done. Most people were not impressed with his shtick.

Sure a lot of curious people tuned in to see an apology. The ratings showed what is called a "Dead Cat Bounce". When something falls from a great height it is natural for it to bounce - doesn't mean it bounces back to it's previous state.

Maybe the powers that be just need to randomly "suspend" Kimmel once or twice a month. Then that will boost his ratings for a day and make him so happy. Then do it again in a couple of weeks. I love when he said he lost his livelihood because of the president. Livelihood? The man is a multi multi millionaire. I assumed he saved some of it. It's not like he works at Starbucks. He is boring and biased and basically unfunny. I cannot imagine ever tuning in to the show. Nice to know he is back to normal. Not being funny for a small group of people.

Once his contract is up, he will not be renewed or will face a major pay cut. ABC is tired of losing money to low ratings and defamation lawsuits.

Charlie Kirk is dead. Americans must face why. His murder was not random, not confusing, not detached from the battles he fought so fiercely in life. For years, Kirk warned about the dangers of this movement. Not just its cultural consequences, but the deeper crisis of mental illness and violence it has unleashed across the nation. In the end, his voice was silenced by precisely the pestilence he spent his career opposing. The facts are painfully clear. On Sept. 13, 2025, police captured Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old suspect
