When the Obama Foundation snagged a sweetheart deal to build its beleaguered Obama Presidential Center in a Chicago public park, it pledged to create a $470 million reserve fund to spare taxpayers should the project ever go belly up.
But new tax filings show the foundation has only deposited $1 million into the fund and has not added to it in years, with critics saying the empty promise could potentially leave Chicagoans on the hoo(snip)
Under its agreement with the city, the foundation was required to create the fund, known as an endowment, to take control of a sprawling 19.3-acre section of Jackson Park — often described as Chicago’s Central Park

Typical. The Obamas are world class grifters. I can't think of anyone even close to their sleaze. Well maybe B J and Hillary.

I'd say it's time for foreclosure. Sell it to the Trump organization so they can build a luxury hotel on that land.

Every time I see an image of the main building, the general outline makes me think of The Mask of Sorrows monument, at the end of the Road of Bones, in Magadan, Russia.

Regarding the finances, it sounds like a typical Leftist 'Rat operation. The insiders disappeared all the Ca$h down 'Rat holes (including enormous salaries paid to the 'insiders' running the organization) leaving the long-suffering Taxpayers on the hook to pay for the thing,
I say NO Taxpayer money! If the rich 'Rats -many of whom GOT rich off of the Taxpayer's dime and Zero's programs- will not pony up to finish it, then abandon it as is, and after a while, foreclose on it, obliterate it, and either return it to a Park, or sell it to Donald Trump to build something beautiful and useful on the property.

Unlike Hussein Obama, Donaldus Magnus just donated 22 million he won in Court from the unfair YouTube expulsion after the 2020 election steal to the new 250 million White House Ballroom fund. How can one not love a many like Trump?

As I’ve posted before - it’s the ugliest building in America. Tear it down and return the park to the junkies.

Sorry, Chicago, but mansions are not cheap. The Obama have expenses. And don't forget about global warming and rising seas (except for their beachfront properties).

No money for the agreed upon endorsement, but plenty of donations diverted to liberal non profits to fund protests, anti Trump, and anti ICE activities. The Obama bait and switch campaign has been one of deception and lies, just like his presidency and post presidency adventures.

All I have seen of this monstrosity are pictures, but IMO the best thing to do with it is get one of these outfits that blows down buildings to wire it up and blow it down.

Without a doubt the worst, most polarizing, vengeful, racist person to ever occupy our beautiful White House. He put a stain on it that will take years to remove. 8 horrible years and then 4 more pulling Biden’s strings. We will need more than 4 years of DJT to fix this.

Money has been disappearing in Chicago since the 1920s like donuts at Rosie O'Donnell's house. Maybe the Clinton Foundation will be generous enough to contribute to the Obama Hut since money seems to only go one way into that black hole with Chelsea's only purpose in life being to guard the event horizon.

Why do ex-Presidents' need a building that size? A tasteful 4,000-5,000 sq ft building should suffice. Put a few notable displays (FJB won't have many, (if any) to brag about). There's no need for a giant building. A modest, decent, attractive building should suffice. If a President wants a bigger one, raise private funds to pay for it. I would also suggest that it not be something that looks like a giant mausoleum or Soviet style apartment building.

It's already cracking due to poor construction. It's is objectively hideous. heating and cooling it alone will cost a fortune. It destroyed a remaining section of a Frederick Law Olmstead designed park. It took public greenspace to concrete over for a private individual. So who is surprised it's a financial rip off as well?
