True statistics have no bias. All government statistics include agenda bias.

I get that job stats report an immediate 'estimate' followed later by more accurate numbers. But I actually believe that the system is gamed not just for political purposes as we've seen over the last few years but also for making money off the market responses as in 'inside trading'. Nancy Pelosi, anyone?

When I was in college back in the Stone Age (early 1970’s) I had to take an entry-level statistics course. One of the required texts was a small paperback book entitled “How To Lie With Statistics”. I got more insight and information from that little book than anything else I read that semester.

I'm betting most federal employees in an organization have no idea what they do or how it fits into the big picture. They just do their routine day after day, year after year, and send it off to the next level. Its only at the upper echelons where it all comes together and gets manipulated for whatever gain is in vogue that day.

In my professional life I do consulting on system designs and business process reengineering. I've been puzzled by the frequent inaccuracies and subsequent corrections on the BLS monthly jobs report, so I finally went to the BLS website to take a look at its methods and data sources for this report. After reviewing that, it's hard for me to believe that ANYONE has any confidence whatsoever in that report, regardless of who is the President or who is director of that agency. Let me summarize how it's done: 1) Monthly, it receives a wide variety of data on jobs from a LIMITED SUBSET of businesses in the country. 2) The reporting is VOLUNTARY, with no penalties for lack of submission or inaccuracy/incompleteness. 3) The data is assembled in the form of a SURVEY, assembled by someone at the business, as opposed to a direct data feed from the actual payroll system of the business. 4) The MODE of transmission is in one of the following 3 forms: phone, Web entry, or EDI (computer file exchange). 5) Computer ALGORITHMS are then applied to the collected data samples as of the date of the report to project ESTIMATES of the data category totals for the entire country. (So, pretty much like a poll.) I find it unbelievable that the world's largest (multi-trillion dollar) economy uses this methodology to assess the health of its economy and to make national and international policies as a result of these figures. It needs to be completely redesigned to have any validity and accuracy. That design should mandate (through IRS, not BLS) legally-required submission by all businesses using direct data transfer from the business's actual payroll system with no intervention by any party. This should be a top priority for DOGE.

When you have an inherently broken system that is a mockery of thoughtful planning, it invites corruption. You can always bury the evidence of deliberate manipulation in the gaps of uncertainty in the process. What is the proof that the data from the various businesses are accurately reporting? Could they be making accidental or deliberate errors? Is it even possible to get accurate short term results on the economy? If not, why do we play this game? We have the short term predictions. We have longer term predictions that are supposedly more accurate. We should be able to compare the two and state that the short term efforts typically can vary by xx% from final numbers. If you were to tell me that the economy grew by 3% +/- 1%, a possible 33% variance, your results would be pretty useless. Let's be real about the numbers that are available.

We thought President Donald Trump was merely another Hitler. But, no, he’s also another Mao and another Stalin. Next he’ll be on his way to becoming Beelzebub himself, unless the climate fanatics can finally get a hold of themselves. In one of the more maniacal rants we have seen, Rep. Sean Casten, an Illinois Democrat, swore before hundreds of millions that the administration’s dropping of the Obama-era Environmental Protection Agency’s carbon dioxide endangerment finding is an act of mass murder. Seems to be a lot to put on an administrative order that reverses the EPA’s ability to regulate CO2,

Well, it worked. Tesla sales are down. Tesla earnings are down. But those who are in the market for an EV didn’t rush to buy plug-ins made by other companies. The entire market is down.

One of the most important provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill has gone completely unnoticed, but promises to make the auto industry great again. For 50 years, the federal government has been forcing fuel economy standards on auto companies. If the average fuel economy of the cars sold in a year exceeded a federal standard, the companies had to cough up enormous penalties. Passed in 1975 as a way to deal with an energy crisis (that was caused by government price controls), “corporate average fuel economy” (CAFE) standards – required the fleet of cars sold by an automaker to achieve

Epstein, who hobnobbed with the rich and famous, had been under investigation since 2005 for sex trafficking and pedophilia, and died in prison six years ago, has been responsible for conspiracy theories for years.
