Today’s Non-Progressive Progressives

he Democratic Party is in sad shape, by its own self-report and in the view of most observers. At the same time, the party is seemingly more progressive and more dominated by progressives than it has been for a good long time. Are the two things related? Yes, they are—but not in the way most people think. The problem isn’t that progressives have made the party too progressive; the problem is rather that today’s progressives aren’t really progressive in the true sense of the term and as a result have led the party into a number of political cul-de-sacs that have nothing to do with progress and dramatically undermine its appeal.

Comments:

Excellent analysis of the current state of the Dim Party and how they have abandoned the principles they used to stand for. Note: it's not from a conservative source.

Beware of, and do not use, the Language of the Left! Today's example: The article uses the term 'progressive' over and over to describe the Democ'RATS. Progress is GOOD, isn't it? You don't want to be against Progress, do you? If you're against Progress, then what does that make you? Something evil. The fact is that Progress and Progressive is not the correct term to describe today's Democ'RATS. No, the correct term would be Totalitarian Communist. But then, NAtional Socialist (a.k.a. NAZI) may also be a good fit, as well as that term that the left throws around without knowing what it means..... Fascist. 'Fascist' was defined by Mussolini, the guy who came up with the term, as "Everything within the State, Nothing outside of the State." ..... Which defines the Leftists pretty well, as they want to control EVERYTHING!

Regressive progressives? “I don’t know if I’m up or down, or whether black is white or blue is brown, the colors in my life are different somehow, little boy blue’s a big girl now”. (John ‘Geezer’ Butler)

Barack Obama wants you to think he had nothing to do with the Russia collusion hoax, but that lie is unraveling fast. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has declassified a trove of documents that expose how the Obama administration faked the January 2017 intelligence report to falsely accuse Trump of colluding with Russia. The evidence includes a 2020 House Intelligence Committee report, which confirms that despite no cyber interference from Russia, Obama pushed for a new intelligence community assessment (ICA) in late 2016 to shape a narrative that Putin was helping Trump. It was all part of a desperate attempt to undermine a duly elected president.

With a new president in charge and the Department of Justice not looking to give Democrats anymore passes, Sen. Adam Schiff's chickens may finally be coming home to roost. As RedState reported back in 2023, the senator claimed a Maryland home as his "primary residence" on a federally-insured loan document. By doing so, he secured a lower mortgage rate. The problem? He's a politician from Burbank, CA, who would not have been eligible to hold the elected offices he held from 2003-2025 if his primary residence were in another state. So one way or the other, it looks like Schiff lied.

In their heedless rush to enact a deficit-exploding tax bill so massive that they barely understand it, Senate Republicans call to mind a scene in The Sopranos. A group of young aspiring gangsters decides to stick up a Mafia card game in hopes of gaining the mobsters’ respect and being brought into the crew. At the last moment, the guys briefly reconsider, before one of them supplies the decisive argument in favor of proceeding: “Let’s do it before the crank wears off...” Like the Mafia wannabes, congressional Republicans have talked themselves into a plan so incomprehensibly reckless that to describe it is to question its authors’ sanity.

I read a few days ago that none of Biden’s Executive Orders have been posted to the Federal Register, so I looked, then, a few days ago. Those Executive Orders are showing up. However, I believe I have accidentally discovered his signature may be a forgery.

Wisconsin’s liberal‑controlled Supreme Court, locked in a 4–3 ideological split, refused to intervene in Democratic efforts to redraw the state’s GOP‑dominated congressional map. Democrats claim the maps are a gerrymandered power grab, crying foul as they see their roadmap to regaining House control vanish. The Elias Law Group and Campaign Legal Center filed dual petitions in May, urging the Court to invalidate the 6‑2 Republican‑leaning congressional configuration, claiming it violates the state’s constitutional promise of equal representation.

With respect to Israel and Iran, talk of peace is in the air. We are beset with calls from various quarters to “de-escalate” the situation there, lest wider war break out. President Trump, who partnered with Israel in deceiving Iran prior to Israel’s preemptive strike, is now talking about making another deal with Iran. I hope he doesn’t mean it. The last thing Israel, or anyone else, should be thinking about is another agreement with the mullahs.

In the 1960s and 1970s, a totalitarian movement almost destroyed the republic. Now it threatens to do so again.Recently, I wrote an essay on the late 19th-century Russian pogroms that forced my great-grandparents to flee to the United States. I observed the striking and foreboding parallels between that old eruption of Jew-hatred and the rise of Red-Green Alliance antisemitism in the United States. I did so to highlight a peculiar irony of history: None of this is new.

Van Hollen delivered love from Abrego Garcia’s family and his growing legion of advocates and proved that the 29-year-old father is alive and safe—at least for now.

On Friday, the story of an American citizen being held by immigration officials for ten days burst into the political sphere. It was the perfect storm for the press, who were salivating over the opportunity to turn one of the Trump administration's best polling issues into a liability. As the original reporting went, Jose Hermosillo was wrongfully arrested in Albuquerque, NM, and held for over a week despite telling ICE officials that he was an American. It wasn't until his family showed up with a birth certificate and a Social Security card that he was released.

What's the only gear a French car has? Reverse. That's an old joke that I remember an uncle telling many years ago, and it's evergreen. Amid the rise of Islamist influence across the world, specifically in Western countries, France has decided to do what it does best: Preemptively surrender. French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that he and his nation will formally recognize a "Palestinian State," rewarding the murderous terrorists who still control Gaza and the West Bank. That will officially take place at the UN General Assembly, set to happen in September. Hamas was quick to take advantage, thanking Macron

It's striking how similar NPR's situation is to that of Planned Parenthood. Both organizations have an affiliate model and both just had a lot of federal money cut from their budgets. That means both are now hoping to find new sources of funding to keep the doors open. The NY Times reports there has been an increase in donations to PBS and NPR but so far the amount isn't nearly enough to offset the cuts. Over the last three months, as the prospect of the cuts intensified, roughly 120,000 new donors have contributed an estimated $20 million in annual value,

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) drew widespread mockery Thursday over a since-deleted social media post that showed how the cost of groceries skyrocketed under former President Joe Biden. But Trump, who certainly has access to excellent legal advice, has just said that Obama has immunity from prosecution for any crimes he may have committed in conspiring to use falsified intelligence to undermine Trump's presidency, set up a phony impeachment, and perhaps put Trump in jail.

It’s been 50 years — and countless conspiracy theories — since Jimmy Hoffa first disappeared, and his case remains one of the most infamous and vexing unsolved mysteries in U.S. history. The ex-Teamsters boss left his cottage home in suburban Lake Orion, Mich., near Detroit on July 30, 1975 for a 2 p.m. meeting at the Machus Red Fox Restaurant in nearby Bloomfield Hills. He was reportedly gathering with a group of gangsters, including Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano, a New Jersey-based capo for the Genovese crime family, and Detroit mob boss Anthony “Tony Jack” Giacalone. Unpopular opinion: all Muslim immigration should come to an end. When President Trump first called for a pause in Muslim migration he was met with hysteria. Yet despite the hysteria has Islamic immigration truly enhanced and contributed to this country? The answer is undoubtedly "no." Zohran Mamdani proves that while not all Islamic immigrants are terrorists, their values are not in line with America. Zohran Mamdani, who was born in Uganda and became an American citizen just seven years ago, is a cautionary tale of the dangers of third-world Muslim immigration. Despite having benefited from the American dream, all he can seem to do is advocate for anti-American ideology.
