California's embattled high-speed rail project suffered a major setback after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the termination of $4 billion in unspent federal funding by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). Citing 16 years of failure, no completed high-speed track, and escalating costs, Duffy declared the project, dubbed the "train to nowhere," a mismanaged and over-budget "boondoggle." "This is California’s fault. Governor Newsom and the complicit Democrats have enabled this waste for years. Federal dollars are not a blank check – they come with a promise to deliver results," Duffy said in a statement.

The ancient Egyptians did a better and quicker job building the Great Pyramids. But of course they did not have an idiot governor as their leader or a union to contend with. I assume GN has several liberal judges lined up so he can continue to suck off the taxpayer for as long as it takes. Don't know if that is an option but he'll give it a try. The waste of resources and money is disgusting.

Isn't California running a deficit? No offense to conservatives in Cali, but Duffy is 100% correct. Cali should be forced to pay the American taxpayers at least a portion of those billions they've spent on this train to nowhere over a 16-year period. They can recoup monies from all the grifters who profited from it. FTA - "This boondoggle, led by the incompetent Governor of California, Gavin Newscum, has cost Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we have received NOTHING in return except Cost Overruns. The Railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will," Trump continued." Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., "A project that was supposed to be finished five years ago at a cost of $33 billion is now projected to take until the end of the century at a cost of $130 billion." "The review found that zero miles of high-speed track have been laid since ground was broken 10 years ago, and the cost continues to balloon." "The Department of Transportation (DOT) added that it may also pursue recovery of previously disbursed funds and potential legal action."

Some builders are crying in their beer...they had a money making scheme in that railway to no where...it has paid their expenses for years...and now the fire construction is their next money maker...the reason newscum is holding up construction in the palisades is construction companies want the land to this special spot...and homeowners cannot build without government approval...so they sit and wait...and wait...and wait....

Excellent news. Our country cannot afford any more "Green" anything. It all needs to end, from ethanol adulterated gasoline to large scale wind and solar power. California's bullet train, an impossible dream as well as a worthless money sink, was a stupid idea to begin with. It will never happen. Forget about it. Whoever supported it needs to be long gone from politics. Even the credulous Gov. Brylcreem himself. As I said, stupid. Claw back the subsidies from the contractors. A lot of people have made out like bandits during the Green scam, with nothing to show for it except ruined farm land. The wastrels should have to return the money they wasted.

High speed trains make stops to off load and pick up passengers. To stop they have to slow down. I rode a high speed train in an Asian country and in a 4 hour journey it went above 100MPH twice and only for 15 minutes total. Entire journey would have been 2-1/2 hours on an American interstate. I suspect same thing for high speed rail in California. That country already had an interstate equivalent running the same route as the high speed train. But since we were in a foreign country, for us renting a car would be too much of a liability so we took the train. Our hosts drove their car and had already had a nice lunch by the time we got there. So we had to eat vending machine sandwiches.

Officially designating an organization as a terrorist group in the U.S. criminalizes providing material support, freezes assets, and restricts travel for members and supporters under laws such as the PATRIOT Act.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy has terminated the remaining $4 billion of unspent federal funds for California’s beleaguered high-speed rail project. The move is well justified. In 2008, California voters approved a ballot measure that would allow the state to issue up to $9.95 billion in bonds to support an ambitious plan to build a high-speed rail system. But the state has not lived up to the promises made to its own voters who approved the measure and to the federal government. When it was sold to Californians 16 years ago, state rail officials presented a business plan that envisioned a sprawling 800-mile

As long as he doesn't self-destruct, that is. We're going to see if Mamdani can keep his foot out of his mouth in the next three and a half months and avoid making his support of an "intifada" against Jews any larger of a campaign issue than it already is.
