The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday said it is terminating the deportation shield for more than 500,0000 Haitian nationals who entered the United States under the Biden administration.
The agency, which shortened the duration of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for some 521,000 Haitians earlier this year, will terminate their status on Sept. 2.
It came after the Supreme Court ruled on May 19 that the Trump administration could proceed with ending TPS for Venezuelans,(snip)The court, in a separate order on May 30, said that the administration could immediately revoke a separate status known as parole for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.

Our South Carolina neighborhood has green cans for garbage and blue cans for recycling. All our neighbors dutifully separate their garbage. We don’t, and we don’t for a very specific reason. What I discovered a couple of years ago is that, while different trucks drive around collecting blue and green cans on garbage day, at the end of the shift, the trucks dump all the garbage into the same landfill. It’s a scam that, according to my local representative, makes people feel good about themselves.
When I lived in Marin County, California, we also had to separate our garbage. That wasn’t surprising, though

Girls don’t usually fight. There are sound reasons for this – reasons of general decorum, biology, hormones, jewelry, dresses and hairdos.
But when they do, boy oh boy, it can be a doozy. It happened yesterday at the Supreme Court.
The case was an appeal of a district court order issuing a “universal injunction” against President Trump’s executive order seeking to abolish “birthright citizenship.”
Birthright citizenship is the kind you get if you’re born in America even if your parents are here illegally. The 14th Amendment seems to provide for it, although there is a non-frivolous argument that it does not.

The Islamic Republic of Iran nearly succeeded in assassinating former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to a new book called "2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America," which was obtained by The Washington Post one month ahead of its publication in July.
The report published by The Washington Post on Friday cited the book saying that the time and place where the assassination nearly succeeded was while Pompeo was in a hotel in Paris three years ago.
The book provides no further details than that, the report said. Last September, then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his campaign were informed by intelligence

In an interview with the Associated Press, Streisand revealed that she is teaming with artists including Sting, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Seal, and newcomers such as Icelandic pop star Laufey. But amid her efforts to tout her new album, Streisand could not resist popping off about the evils of Donald Trump — one of her favorite topics. The Yentl star told the AP that she has ongoing mental distress over the Trump administration. She even claimed that her worries about Trump may have caused her to pick some of the darker songs for her new album.

Why do we have so much fraud in our health care system? Because the system’s incentives encourage it — and because authorities often don’t do enough to fight it.
One of my recent experiences with the system reinforced those two simple and unsurprising lessons. I feel obligated to share the story of how I stumbled upon a possible Covid testing scam (with names and details omitted for legal purposes), to demonstrate how easy it remains for scammers to manipulate our health care system in ways that raise costs for all of us.

A Florida-based diver thought he was doing the right thing when he freed a group of sharks—but instead, it led to a felony charge and, years later, a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. On May 28, Tanner Mansell and John Moore Jr. were two of the sixteen recipients of Trump’s full pardons after the pair were convicted in 2020 of theft of property within special maritime jurisdiction.
Mansell, 31, of Jupiter, Fla., reflected on the fateful day leading to his conviction and the eventual unexpected pardon from the White House.

The Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in Trump v. CASA, Inc., released Friday, finally put the brakes on the reckless abuse of nationwide injunctions by lower courts—and has Democrats in full meltdown mode. The left’s favorite judicial weapon just got neutered, and the hypocrisy is impossible to ignore.
The liberal wing of the court didn’t do itself any favors, either. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent was so horrible that Justice Amy Coney Barrett felt compelled to call it out in the majority opinion.
But Justice Elena Kagan’s credibility also took a direct hit. In a stunning display of judicial flip-flopping, Kagan’s own words from 2022 have come back to haunt her,

To borrow a phrase from a writer many of my radical colleagues love to cite, the chickens are coming home to roost at colleges and universities around the country.
As anyone paying even a modicum of attention knows, the Trump Administration is endeavoring to curtail some of the more explicit ideological partisanship going on in higher education under the mask of scholarship and teaching. Beyond that, many schools are recognizing that bottom lines have shifted, and faculty hiring will have to adjust.
Recently, faculty and administrative communities on many campuses have discussed the difficulties departments are facing in replacing departing faculty lost through retirement or moves. The American Association of University Professors

The big news story of the week was America’s stunningly executed devastation of Iran’s nuclear program–a program to which Barack Obama donated billions of dollars, and which other presidents had been willing to tolerate. The raid was carried out in complete secrecy, with President Trump’s Truth Social post, shortly after B-2 bombers had exited Iranian air space, the first word anyone had. Democrats complained that they hadn’t been told in advance, but everyone knew why: they would have leaked information about the raid and destroyed the element of surprise.
Following the air strikes, the Democratic Party lined up pretty much unanimously behind America’s most bitter enemy. Was John Fetterman–

I know a lot of you are skeptical, and for good reason. The violent conflicts and political tension between Rwanda and Congo go back decades. Approximately six million people have died. Millions more have been displaced. Even without conflict, the region lacks stability for any number of reasons. But this time could be different The peace deal that President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio brokered may not solve these two countries' problems instantly — and Rubio made that clear on Friday — but it's a historic step in the right direction worthy of praise and attention.

Well this was certainly unexpected. The leftist Washington Post dropped a devastating op-ed Friday by its editorial board that ripped into democratic socialist mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani and said that he would be “bad for New York.” As we reported, the political novice won a shocking victory in Tuesday's Democrat NYC mayoral primary, beating disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo and putting himself in prime position for the November general election.
Usually the liberal rag is little more than a mouthpiece for the DNC, so to see them go after a Democrat this hard is a stunner and reveals two things:

Democrats are right to be worried about the party’s shift to the left that Zohran Mamdani’s surprise victory in New York City’s mayoral primary implies.
That’s because the party was already on the outs with a majority of American voters, according to newly released data from the Pew Research Institute.
Pew conducts a biennial poll known as the Validated Voter Survey — considered one of the best ways to understand what happened in the prior election, because its survey results are cross-indexed with each state’s voter files.
Only respondents who are shown to have actually voted are counted.

The Justice Department on Friday fired at least three prosecutors involved in U.S. Capitol riot criminal cases, the latest moves by the Trump administration targeting attorneys connected to the massive prosecution of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Those dismissed include two attorneys who worked as supervisors overseeing the Jan. 6 prosecutions in the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington as well as a line attorney who prosecuted cases stemming from the Capitol attack, the people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters.
A letter that was received by one of the prosecutors was signed by Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The National People’s Congress (NPC), the highest legislative body in China, announced on Friday that Vice Admiral Li Hanjun and nuclear engineer Liu Shipeng were expelled for unspecified reasons.
On the same day, Admiral Miao Hua was kicked out of the Central Military Commission (CMC), the governing body of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Li, Liu, and Miao appear to be the latest targets of dictator Xi Jinping’s endless “anti-corruption crusade,” a rolling purge of top officials who have displeased or embarrassed the absolute ruler for one reason or another. They join the two defense ministers, two PLA missile

No doubt that leftists will scream that the Court has backed the "Christian Nationalists" or make some similar complaint, so it's hilarious that the case that opens the door for parents to keep their kids from being subjected to alphabet ideology in the schools will forever be known as Mahmoud v Taylor.
Mahmoud. That is funny. At the root of the case is Maryland's assertion that allowing parents to opt their children out of being indoctrinated with all sorts of alphabet ideology propaganda was too large a burden for the school to bear if they wanted to educate kids. We all know by now that President Donald Trump won the 2024 election by some pretty big numbers, but a new study out from the Pew Research Center gives us a closer look at the people behind those numbers. The news is better than we thought, and it was already pretty good.
According to the analysis, voters who supported Trump in 2024 are "far more racially and ethnically diverse" than they were in 2020 or 2016. //snip//The conclusion? "...if all Americans eligible to vote in 2024 had cast ballots, the overall margin in the popular vote likely would not have been much different." Trump still would have won.
