CTH has continually said that almost no one in Canada has any grasp of what is about to happen within their economy, specifically because only a handful of people realize what President Trump intends to do. This interview with Kevin O’Leary is a case study in what I have been warning about. If you have any financial affiliation with O’Leary Ventures or ancillary investments that touch on a dependency therein, be forewarned. Comments:

Self-reverential O'Leary makes the rounds at Fox. A terminal bore, IMO. But some may be interested in this.

This 400% tariff on USA tech which will precipitate a zinger of a response from POTUS Trump also strengthens the hand of the western provinces who are already making very loud noises about leaving the Canadian federation. That would make for an interesting situation in which the western provinces could make their own separate deals with the USA for trade, defense, etc. without becoming 51st-53rd states. Since the western provinces have quite a bit in common they could conceivably form a new nation of their own to deal with the USA on matters important to them and to us.

The Canadian people have been used and abused for so long by Trudeau that they are probably clueless about what is happening. He abused the truck drivers and got away with it. The people caved to the COVID madness. Their health care is lacking. They allowed immigrants to enter Canada so they could in turn enter the US. Their abundance of raw materials is what keeps them going but what if the US stops buying their products because we have everything they do without the hassle? Cuban cigars and tourism will not save them. A breakoff of the west from the east would be a disaster for them.

O'Leary isn't nearly as dim-witted as Sundance seems to think. He's just displaying overt panic... yet. That might become necessary in the near future, however....

Below is my column in the New York Post on the controversial dissenting opinion of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson in the injunction ruling in Trump v. CASA on Friday. The opinion seemed to fan the flames of “democracy is dying” claims of protesters, suggesting that basic limits on injunctive relief could result in the collapse of our core institutions. It was a hyperventilated opinion better suited to a cable program than a Court opinion. The response from Justice Amy Coney Barrett was a virtual pile driver of a rebuke. What was notable is that a majority of the justices signed off on the takedown. It could indicate a certain exasperation

Senators met yesterday for a subcommittee hearing to discuss claims that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), foreign donors, and leftist legal activism are behind a “systematic campaign” to dismantle American energy dominance. Throughout the hearing, Chairman Ted Cruz, R-Texas, emphasized how foreign funding and activist litigation are undermining U.S. energy infrastructure, posing a national security threat. His four Democrat colleagues repeatedly dismissed the concerns as a “conspiracy theory,” instead focusing on energy costs and “global warming.” The “assault by the radical left,” “paid for by the [CCP],” seeks to “seize control of our courts [and] to weaponize litigation against U.S. energy producers,” Cruz said. He noted the assault is “three-pronged,

It’s a complicated dynamic, but not so complicated that we cannot understand the motives. Prior to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard taking office, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence had no problems with the DNI office. However, with DNI Gabbard now stretching her wings to diminish the CIA, suddenly the Senate seeks to control the DNI. Tulsi Gabbard had been shrinking the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) since she took office; from 2,000 to roughly 1,600 and dropping. SSCI Chairman Tom Cotton now wants to cap the office staff at 650, sending the remaining intelligence community operatives back to the CIA and

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday said it is terminating the deportation shield for more than 500,0000 Haitian nationals who entered the United States under the Biden administration. The agency, which shortened the duration of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for some 521,000 Haitians earlier this year, will terminate their status on Sept. 2. It came after the Supreme Court ruled on May 19 that the Trump administration could proceed with ending TPS for Venezuelans,(snip)The court, in a separate order on May 30, said that the administration could immediately revoke a separate status known as parole for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.

The Supreme Court partially allowed President Donald Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order on June 27 in a decision that said universal injunctions likely exceed courts’ authority. The 6–3 decision didn’t offer a final ruling on the constitutionality of Trump’s attempt to limit birthright citizenship but instead focused on whether three nationwide injunctions blocking the policy could stand. The majority of the court said that “universal injunctions likely exceed the equitable authority that Congress has given to federal courts.” (skip)More specifically, the court said that the Judiciary Act of 1789 had not granted courts such broad authority.

He anticipated their questions and started answering, right from his opening statement. “I am someone who tries to stand up for what I believe is right,” Bove said. “I’m not afraid to make difficult decisions. In 1866, Ohio congressman and future president James Garfield championed the creation of a federal Department of Education to address high illiteracy levels among former slaves and an influx of European immigrants. As part of the post-Civil War Reconstruction effort, the former Confederate states were required to guarantee education for all in their rewritten constitutions. The new federal agency would monitor and enforce compliance, according to a brief history of the Department of Education published by The Conference Board think tank.

Our South Carolina neighborhood has green cans for garbage and blue cans for recycling. All our neighbors dutifully separate their garbage. We don’t, and we don’t for a very specific reason. What I discovered a couple of years ago is that, while different trucks drive around collecting blue and green cans on garbage day, at the end of the shift, the trucks dump all the garbage into the same landfill. It’s a scam that, according to my local representative, makes people feel good about themselves. When I lived in Marin County, California, we also had to separate our garbage. Socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani doubled down on his plan to jack up property taxes on “richer and whiter neighborhoods” on Sunday — and also asserted that billionaires shouldn’t exist. Mamdani claimed that his soak-the-rich proposal was “not driven by race” — despite his campaign platform explicitly targeting white homeowners. “That is just a description of what we see right now. It’s not driven by race. It’s more of an assessment of what neighborhoods are being under-taxed versus over-taxed,” Mamdani told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

Girls don’t usually fight. There are sound reasons for this – reasons of general decorum, biology, hormones, jewelry, dresses and hairdos. But when they do, boy oh boy, it can be a doozy. It happened yesterday at the Supreme Court. The case was an appeal of a district court order issuing a “universal injunction” against President Trump’s executive order seeking to abolish “birthright citizenship.” Birthright citizenship is the kind you get if you’re born in America even if your parents are here illegally. The 14th Amendment seems to provide for it, although there is a non-frivolous argument that it does not.

Intercepted Iranian communications downplayed the extent of damage caused by US strikes on Iran's nuclear program, the Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing four people familiar with classified intelligence circulating within the US government. A source, who declined to be named, confirmed that account to Reuters but said there were serious questions about whether the Iranian officials were being truthful, and described the intercepts as unreliable indicators. The report by the Post is the latest, however, to raise questions about the extent of the damage to Iran's nuclear program. A leaked preliminary assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency cautioned the strikes may have only set back Iran by months.
