The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday handed down its ruling in the parental rights case of Mahmoud v. Taylor. In a 6-3 decision, SCOTUS decided that parents do have the right to opt their elementary school-aged (pre-K through 8th grade) children out of classroom instruction that may include materials on gender and sexuality. The three dissenters were Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito states that the parents involved were likely to succeed in their claim that the school system, by not allowing the opt-out on LGBTQ-themed classroom activities, was an unconstitutional burden on their religious liberties.

The majority of the Supreme Court is just as fed up with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as we are.
A slate of Supreme Court opinions were released today, including Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. The court sided with Medina in a 6-3 decision, ruling that states like South Carolina are not legally bound to funnel taxpayer dollars towards abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood
Dissenting, as per usual, was liberal justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, [snip]
Jackson’s dissent begins by invoking the Civil Rights Act of 1871 – legislation which expanded the federal government’s power to defend citizens’ constitutional rights against “white supremacist violence,” in Jackson’s words.

A longtime family farm in Cranbury, New Jersey, is at risk of being seized by the town through eminent domain.
The situation with the farm owned by brothers Christopher and Andy Henry, which has been in their family for 175 years, recently drew notice from US Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.
Rollins said on X last week that she was “looking into this situation immediately,” adding, “We must protect family farms at all costs. [snip] Cranbury Township is looking at possibly building state-mandated affordable housing

If you haven’t been to New York City before, you missed it. It’s not destroyed, it’s just a mess and not worth visiting. You still could – it’s great place to take the family if you love the smell of fresh urine on hot concrete coupled with potent marijuana, because you smell that combination pretty much everywhere.
The city is dying, and we should let it. Progressives are all in favor of assisted suicide, we should join them in the case of New York and help the city kill itself. Only a complete embrace of socialist/fascist/communist policies (and there isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between the three)

Sheriff Grady Judd says detectives in Polk County seized 64 pounds of fentanyl and arrested eight people in what the sheriff's office calls the largest fentanyl seizure in the county's history.
The backstory:
Judd says the first of two undercover investigations began in July 2024, and the cases involved Mexico's two largest cartels: Jalisco and Sinaloa. Six suspected Jalisco members and two Sinaloa members have been arrested.
A total of 29 pounds of fentanyl were seized from Jalisco and another 35 pounds were seized from Sinaloa, according to Judd – enough to kill 14.5 million people.
The sheriff's office says the 64 pounds of fentanyl carried a total value of $4.5 million.

The Chicago Tribune issued a grim warning to New Yorkers about electing a socialist mayoral candidate like Zohran Mamdani in a bombshell op-ed Monday, the day before the Empire State’s primary elections.
The paper’s editorial board paints a bleak image of Mamdani, the 33-year-old Democratic socialist Queens assemblyman who leapfrogged the longtime front-runner, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a stunning new poll released earlier in the day. [snip]
The Tribune likened Mamdani’s buzzworthy campaign, which has garnered a historic amount of grassroots support, to that of embattled progressive Windy City Mayor Brandon Johnson, who took office in 2023.

The LA County Sheriff’s Department has deleted a social media post calling the US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities “tragic” after being dragged online.
“Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by the recent bombings in Iran,” the department wrote on X Sunday in a now-deleted post.
“While this tragic event happened overseas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is closely monitoring the situation alongside our local, state and federal partners.”
The post sparked immediate outrage and was allegedly updated to exclude the part sending condolences to “the victims and families” and calling the US military airstrikes “tragic.”

She might be the She-Wolf of Wall Street.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-California) raked in between $7.8 and $42.5 million in 2024 — meaning her estimated net worth with venture capitalist hubby Paul Pelosi could now top out at $413 million, new financial disclosures showed.
The staggering sum is an eye-popping jump from 2023, when financial disclosures showed the couple’s net worth topping out at a possible $370 million.
Pelosi’s exact net worth is not known because lawmakers are only required to disclose ranges.
Market research firm Quiver Quantitative, which estimates a single figure based on daily stock values it tracks, placed the pair’s 2024 worth at $257 million

A Department of State employee was fired after video footage surfaced that appeared to show him admitting he had given illegal migrants advice and helped them dodge deportation.
The O’Keefe Media Group was informed in a statement by the Department of State that Arslan Akhtar, who had worked as a visa specialist for the agency, was “no longer employed by” the State Department.
“The contractor is no longer employed by the U.S. State Department,” an official said. “Upholding the rule of law and protecting the integrity of our immigration system is essential, which is why the Department will launch a new contractor screening and vetting process.”

New York Democrats are reportedly trying to inflate the city’s share of seats in Congress and of federal funding by keeping illegal aliens in the federal 2030 census.
The New York Times reported Thursday that “a coalition of elected officials, community activists, and labor and civic leaders in New York City” is planning ahead for the 2030 census, as Republicans push to have noncitizens excluded from congressional districting counts.
New York Democrats fear they will lose at least two of their 26 seats in the House, according to the Times:

A little over two years ago, the small town of East Palestine, Ohio, suffered one of the worst environmental disasters in recent history when a Norfolk Southern freight train derailed, spilling hazardous chemicals. Like most things that occurred during the Biden administration, a proper cleanup and investigation into exactly how the derailment happened and why were way over the administration's head. Now, however, there may finally be some substantive help on the way for a community that has never quite been the same since the accident, and with the right people in charge, they will get the answers they deserve.

There’s a saying, “I won’t dignify that with a response.” Much of what Ilhan Omar says qualifies; however, it is requisite on U.S. patriots to address her putdown of the U.S. turning into “one of the worst countries.”
It’s tempting to be vindictive toward such preposterous ingratitude, but that’s up to her voters (more on her district in a moment). But there’s some schadenfreude to relish: she’s very unhappy, and is not even a friend to herself. In fact, her warped thinking induces such negative emotions that she feels comfortable being mired in the squalid SQUAD — misery loves company.
It would be preferable if she returned to Somalia,
