This is not a joke. By “functionally illiterate” I mean “unable to read and comprehend adult novels Their writing skills are at the 8th-grade level. Former New York Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel has passed away.
He was 94.
Rangel served 23 terms in Congress. He was elected to Congress in 1970 and retired in 2017.
“A towering figure in American politics and a champion for justice, equity, and opportunity, Congressman Rangel dedicated over four decades of his life to public service,” the Rangel family said in a statement.

NPR has filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump challenging his executive order to end federal funding for NPR and PBS.
