Former New York Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel has passed away. He was 94. Rangel served 23 terms in Congress. He was elected to Congress in 1970 and retired in 2017. “A towering figure in American politics and a champion for justice, equity, and opportunity, Congressman Rangel dedicated over four decades of his life to public service,” the Rangel family said in a statement. NYC Mayor Eric Adams released a statement on Rangel’s death. “I am so sad to lose a dear friend and exemplary model of devotion and courage. My prayers are with his family, Harlem, and all who knew him,” Adams said.

It was either from old age or the grief from what his party has become in spite of 23 terms worth of his efforts. Hopefully, he will renew his acquaintance with many friends.

Why they kept sending him back again alnd again... FTA: Rangel previously attacked the Tea Party movement and said they were a part of the same group of ‘white crackers’ who fought against civil rights. In 2016, Rangel called the GOP the party of the KKK.

Some thirty years ago, my mother and stepfather went to a diet clinic in South Florida, and were surprised to have Charlie Rangel, THE Charlie Rangel, in their group. As I recall, politics were not up for discussion, and Mom said that, in person, Congressman Rangel was a pretty nice fellow. His voice sounded to me like a tenor saxophone with a New York accent. Terrible congressman, but he could be a nice fellow whan he wanted to be. RIP.

Rangel was living proof that it's good to be a Democrat, or at least it used to be. Commit tax evasion, real estate fraud, and numerous other ethical and criminal violations and come away with nothing more than a meaningless House censure. He was only in it for the money, and was otherwise quite useless.

I won't speak ill of the dead, even those who deserve it. I also won't send condolences to the family. Why, you may ask? Because anyone who would send this to the news to be posted about Charlie really doesn't deserve condolences. “A towering figure in American politics and a champion for justice, equity, and opportunity, Congressman Rangel dedicated over four decades of his life to public service,” the Rangel family said in a statement. I'll bet the current politicians representing Harlem area are still complaining about the exact same things Charlie complained about for 46 years in the House of Representatives. Which means he didn't do much to actually fix things for the people he represented at the end of the day. This is how they should be judged, IMO.

Former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, who served during the first Trump administration, has revealed a disturbing development out of Texas. Friedman says a planned major conference, with more than 1,000 attendees expected, has now been canceled due to overwhelming threats of jihadist violence. This comes against the backdrop of a string of recent violent attacks by pro-Hamas radicals inside the United States -- from an arson attack at the Pennsylvania Governor's mansion in April, to the murder of two Israeli embassy workers at a Jewish museum in Washington, DC, to the firebombing of peaceful demonstrators in Colorado on Sunday. Federal agents arrested a teenager who is suspected of planning the assault last month, according to a press release. A teenager, whose name will not be released due to an effort to limit public disclosure of a minor, was arrested May 22 by Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputies after his plans to set off an explosive at a shopping mall in Washington and shoot people as they fled the movie theater there were reported to the FBI on May 19, law enforcement leaders said Thursday.

Today is the 81st anniversary of the historic D-Day invasion of Normandy, when the Allies shifted the balance of World War II against the Nazis. From Pointe du Hoc to Omaha Beach, and from Colleville Sur Mer to Sainte-Mère-Église, the heroism of American troops was on full display on June 6, 1944. Many of the Allied leaders were incompetent (Patton aside), but our men more than made up for that with their determination and courage. Nor did the fighting and dying end on the Normandy beaches, as troops fought their difficult way into the French countryside, pushing the Nazis back. There are countless stories of bravery

Earlier this week, I said that another Biden scandal is blowing up, and that it was out of East Palestine, Ohio, where a Norfolk Southern freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed and burst into flames on Feb. 3, 2023—causing a major environmental disaster. The Biden administration ordered evacuations and carried out a so-called “controlled burn,” sending a toxic plume into the air and blanketing the area in chemicals the Biden administration knew would pose serious long-term health risks. But the Biden White House nevertheless assured residents they were safe, downplaying the risks and stonewalling concerns in what now looks like a blatant cover-up.

During a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing on the abuse of nationwide injunctions yesterday, Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) took direct aim at University of Pennsylvania law professor Kate Shaw, wife of MSNBC’s Chris Hayes. What followed wasn’t just a pointed exchange; it was a complete intellectual beatdown. Of course, that's what always happens with Kennedy. Shaw, invited by Democrats as an expert, quickly found herself exposed as a partisan hack, stammering and backpedaling while Kennedy dismantled her credibility piece by piece.
