Taylor Swift's fans are convinced the pop superstar will be taking on Whitney Houston's iconic role in a remake of the beloved 1992 film, The Bodyguard. The romantic thriller originally starred Kevin Costner, 70, as Frank Farmer, a former Secret Service agent turned professional bodyguard, who is hired to protect Rachel Marron (Houston), a famous singer and actress, from an unknown stalker

Oh for the love of all that is sacred STOP THE INSANITY!! The vast majority of remakes are at best poor shadows of the originals.. at worst utter embarrassments that hand around the cast's necks like the proverbial albatross for decades. I would be too ashamed to try and mimic another (far superior, I mean Whitney vs Taylor... oh please, NO comparison) artist's talent, grace, and style. This trend needs to die, now!!

Swift is certainly pretty enough and, yes, she can sing - but she's not even in the same league as Whitney. That reality aside, there are so many 'swiftees' worldwide that it will be a mega-hit financially.

Isn't this "cultural misappropriation" by Swift? Houston was black; Swift not so much. And Swift can't sing, either -- not like the divinely gifted Houston. For Hollywood to do this rehash movie justice, they'd have to cast someone like Michael B. Jordan (best known recently for his role as Apollo Creed's son who also became a boxer) as Farmer. Unlike Swift, who will not do Houston's role justice, Jordan could pull of the role played by Costner.

This will be huge at the box office simply because Swift will be in it which is why they decided to remake the film. Hollywood needs a big hit. They haven't had one since Tom Cruise did the TOP GUN sequel. The movie industry has run out of ideas for movies that will attract movie goers. So, picking Swift to do a remake makes sense after her successful Eros tour. Every Swifty will flock to the movie theater many more than once.

A California bill that would allow higher education institutions to prioritize slave descendants in college admissions is drawing harsh critique from some civil rights experts. Introduced in December, the bill, AB 7, is a project of Democrat Assemblymember Isaac Bryan who represents part of Los Angeles.
