Indiana University (IU) is teaching students that they are inherently "oppressors" because of their race, sex and religion, documents show. According to the school’s website, the course "Understanding Diversity in a Pluralistic Society" prompts students to examine "theories and models" in order to "enhance understanding of our diverse society."The course "provides content about differences and similarities in the experiences, needs, and beliefs of selected minority groups and their relation to the majority group."

According to financial data platform Unusual Whales’ 2024 Congress Trading Report, the Pelosi portfolio grew 70.9 percent between December 29, 2023, and December 30, 2024, beating the S&P 500 stock index by nearly 200 percent in 2024 and continuing their year-over-year streak of outperforming the index.

As if the people in/around the Los Angeles area didn’t have enough to worry about. Apparently, the entire population of 9.6 million residents was mistakenly told to evacuate their homes around 4pm local time, according to Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn.
The emergency alert was supposed to be for a specific region ‘impacted by the Kenneth Fire in Woodland Hills.‘ However, someone sent the alert to every resident in the greater Los Angeles region, creating massive anxiety and exacerbating an already tense situation.

Elon Musk took yet another jab at Justin Trudeau after the disgraced Canadian Prime Minister tried to take a final stand against President-elect Donald Trump's rhetoric suggesting the United States could absorb the Great White North. Karen Pence refused to acknowledge President-elect Donald Trump and Melania Trumpas they arrived at the Washington National Cathedral Thursday for the funeral of President Jimmy Carter. The former second lady was seated next to her husband, former Vice President Mike Pence, and remained seated as the Trumps arrived.
She made no effort to shake hands with Melania Trump, who she worked hand-in-hand with when their husbands were in office during Trump's first term. Mike Pence shook hands with Donald Trump after former Vice President Al Gore did the same. It was their first public interaction since 2021. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass became stone-faced when confronted by a reporter as she returned to America to find her city burning Wednesday.
“Do you owe citizens and apology for being absent while their homes were burning, and do you regret cutting the Fire Department budget by millions of dollars madame mayor?” Sky News reporter David Blevins asked as Bass waited to deplane.

Earlier today when I wrote about the wildfires I mentioned that there were reports the hydrants were simply running dry, leaving firefighters no way to battle the flames. Here's Rick Caruso, former candidate for LA mayor, describing the problem. FIle this next clip under "too good to check" but apparently this morning one local LA anchor tried to discount what Caruso was saying only to have a reporter contradict him a minute later. That knee-jerk urge to contradict whatever criticism Democrats are getting is one surefire way the media consistently sets its own credibility on fire.

Republicans in Congress are already getting to work on trying to implement Donald Trump’s agenda.
Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) this week put forward a joint resolution seeking to limit the number of terms members of Congress can serve.
Under the terms of the amendment, U.S. senators would be restricted to two six-year terms and representatives in the U.S. House to three two-year terms.
According to the resolution, the amendment would take effect within seven years of being approved by Congress and ratified by the states.
The Supreme Court on Thursday denied President-elect Donald Trump’s bid to delay his Friday morning sentencing in the New York hush money case.
The Supreme Court’s order clears the way for Manhattan judge Juan Merchan to impose the long-awaited sentence on the incoming president. Merchan said he would not give Trump jail time, fines, or probation during the virtual hearing. Scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, the sentencing comes ten days before Trump’s inauguration.
In the Supreme Court’s brief order published Thursday evening, five justices denied Trump’s application for postponing the sentencing date. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh — all of whom were appointed by Republican presidents
