Not even a No. 1 seed — and a 7-footer to defend Donovan Clingan — could prevent Connecticut from repeating as national champions.
And with their 75-60 win Monday night in Phoenix against Zach Edey and Purdue, the Huskies became the first program since Billy Donovan’s Florida teams in 2006 and 2007 to win consecutive titles.
It wasn’t close by the end of the second half, either.
The Huskies took a 15-point lead — expanding the six-point advantage they’d build by halftime — with seven minutes remaining, using a balanced offense, led by Tristen Newton and Stephon Castle, to take control of the game.

Panelists on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” fretted over the “low drama” campaign of former President Donald Trump Monday, comparing his prior electoral bids to “a soap opera.”
Co-host Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski brought Vanity Fair writer Gabriel Sherman to discuss his article, “Inside the Terrifyingly Competent Trump 2024 Campaign,” which was published Thursday on the magazine’s website, to discuss Trump’s third run for the White House. Sherman noted that the stakes for Trump were high.
“The big story in 2016 and to some extent 2020, was that his campaign was a soap opera. It was clashing personalities, it was nonstop drama,” Sherman told Brzezinski and Scarborough.

Former President Bill Clinton announced that he’s penned an upcoming memoir on his life since leaving the White House, including coming clean on “mistakes” he’s made.
The nation’s 42nd president’s new book “Citizen: My Life After the White House” is set to be released in November after the election and should be a real page-turner although some social media users aren’t sold that it will be a truly in-depth account from the man who once wagged his finger in Americans’ faces and insisted “I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.”
“My last 23 years have been fascinating, filled with family life and foundation work, with heroes and heartbreak.

We’ve had some important presidential elections in American history, of course. The election of 1800 decelerated the Federalists’ attempt to expand the federal government. 1828 led to increased democracy. James K. Polk’s election in 1844 allowed for the entrance of Texas into the United States. 1860 was perhaps the most important election we’ve ever had because it preceded our tragic internecine war. And there have been other important elections as well. 1912, 1932, 1960, 1980 come to mind.
But this year might be the most important election in our nation’s history. The ideological division in America is the greatest it has ever been—

After spending an unfathomable amount of taxpayer money to fly to the battleground state on Air Force One, the president proceeded to bumble and lie his way through a mercifully short speech. In it, he bragged about defying the Supreme Court on student loan forgiveness and introduced a new falsehood about his childhood, the latter being so easily debunkable that I can only assume he's not even trying anymore. Hamas has, in an unsurprising development for the barbaric terrorists, rejected another ceasefire proposal — again demonstrating its refusal to lay down arms or exchange innocent hostages for its members held by Israel. After rejecting multiple ceasefire proposals since December, Hamas again on Monday torpedoed the latest round of talks with Israel in Cairo being mediated by the Egyptians, Qataris, and CIA Director William Burns.
Meanwhile, in the U.S., the useful idiots sympathetic to Hamas' end goal of wiping out Israel continue chanting "CEASEFIRE NOW" to allow the terrorists to reconstitute and someday launch another devastating attack — even as Hamas rejects each new ceasefire offer put before them.

Many of these polls oversample Democrats. Most survey registered voters or whoever answers the phone when the pollster calls.
Rasmussen Reports surveys U.S. likely voters, those who actually cast votes, and they show Trump with an 8 point lead. They also found little impact from third party candidates such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein, or Cornell West.
The deep state, swamp, blob, ruling class, establishment, uni-party, or whatever is today’s term de jour for the permanent administrative state has been pulling out all the stops to vanquish Trump.

By this point, it’s clear to everyone that Bill Barr was a dirty pawn of the Deep State, installed to undermine President Trump from the inside. Yet, we’ve now got a rare look at just how evil he truly was. Barr wasn’t merely “concerned” about the 2020 election; he was outright “irate.” Not over the injustice of it all, mind you, but because he was incensed by any investigations into the sham. If this doesn’t scream his direct involvement in the coup against Trump, what does?

A recent study in the journal Nature: Communications Earth and Environment claims climate change is contributing to price inflation. The study’s authors say they found climate change harms economic productivity and food production, leading to higher prices. They examined more than 27,000 monthly consumer price index data points around the globe.
I can’t begin to describe all the ways this claim is not just outright false but is misleading in a manner clearly intended to motivate restrictions on fossil fuel production and use, policies which would in fact increase energy prices, harm food production, and result in lost jobs, higher prices, and lower incomes.

Sure, they may get a conviction - although Bragg's case itself was a stretch from the jump and other cases appear to be struggling or falling apart completely - but in the meantime, they not only secured Trump's nomination for GOP nominee this year, they also united the Republican Party in ways they haven't fully grasped yet.
There are some signs of fracturing still - the House GOP is its own hot mess - but there are plenty of Republicans

Hundreds of thousands of people who have traveled to see Monday’s total solar eclipse across the southern and northeastern United States are likely to be disappointed, as cloud cover and bad weather cover much of the path.
A total solar eclipse is a rare event in which the moon passes directly in front of the sun, casting a dark shadow that lasts a few minutes at any given point, depending on variables such as the distance of the moon from the earth.
The experience is spectacular. During totality, the outer portion of the sun — the corona — is visible, as are stars near the sun, and planets such as Mercury,

Over the past few years the term "Deaths of Despair" has become all too common.
It's not a new term; after the fall of the Soviet Union, the already poor state of Russians' health deteriorated and lifespans declined. The same effect has been seen in places where social cohesion and support structures deteriorated for some reason or another.
And, not that many people know it, it was known in public health circles (before they conveniently forgot) that excessive "Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions" (NPIs) to address a public health crisis caused serious health problems that often were worse than the disease.

“My view is now that we have abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both. And whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in a video message posted to his Truth Social page.
He didn’t say after how many weeks of pregnancy he believes abortion should be banned.

Former President Donald Trump says each state should follow “the will of the people” and pass state-specific laws on abortion.
“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land, in this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in a video posted on TruthSocial Monday morning.
Trump’s position on abortion has previously been unclear looking towards the 2024 presidential election, despite the fact that the president appointed the Supreme Court justices who were ultimate responsible for overturning

“Are you kidding me?” The Biden administration has blocked the testimony of prosecutors Mark Daly and Jack Morgan, who were involved in an inexplicable decision of the Justice Department to allow major felonies against Hunter Biden to lapse.
Those are four words that no lawyer wants to hear from a judge in a hearing. But that was not the least of it for Justice Department lawyers fighting House subpoenas into the Biden corruption scandal.
US District Judge Ana Reyes slammed the DOJ for stonewalling Congress on the subpoenas while imprisoning figures like former Trump adviser Peter Navarro for doing the same thing.

The Vatican has released a document criticizing gender theory, transgender surgery and surrogacy as affronts to human dignity. Dignitas Infinita, Latin for "Infinite Dignity," was released on Monday after more than five years in development by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) and focuses on threats to human dignity in the modern world.
"In the light of Revelation, the Church resolutely reiterates and confirms the ontological dignity of the human person, created in the image and likeness of God and redeemed in Jesus Christ," the document states in its beginning.
Dignitas Infinita addresses over a dozen individual issues of the modern day

Cameron Jones is a sophomore at Columbia University. He has family in Israel and has visited more than once, but he’s also a member of the college’s chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and a vocal opponent of Israel’s attacks on Gaza. His family abroad doesn't know about the organizing he's done, nor do they know that he is one of the plaintiffs in a lawsuit against Columbia after the JVP chapter was suspended in November. Since Hamas strikes prompted Israel to begin attacking Gaza on Oct. 7, Jones and other students – mostly queer people, people of color

The war rages in the Gaza Strip, northern Israel, Lebanon, Eilat and on the streets of Israel’s cities as Iran’s Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi and Yemeni proxies maintain and escalate their operations against the Jewish state. Unmoved by this state of affairs, Israel’s far left is reinstating the anti-government riots that occurred regularly through the first three-quarters of 2023. (snip) there are a number of reasons this is happening. But perhaps the main one was revealed by riot leader Ami Dror. In that communication, Dror told his colleagues that the White House was asking them to reinstate the riots.

Most news outlets rely on The Associated Press style guide—officially known as the AP Stylebook—as the arbiter for grammar, spelling, and terminology in news coverage. While AP puts forth its style guide as an impartial rubric for fair coverage, its rules often exclude conservative views from the outset.
Take AP’s latest round of updates, released Friday. (Snip)
Yet one of the largest sections of the updated style guide involves “climate change,” a term that AP says “can be used interchangeably” with the term “climate crisis.”
“Climate change, resulting in the climate crisis, is largely caused by human activities that emit carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases into

One of the leaders of a group of students who held a sit-in at Vanderbilt University this week in support of Hamas is a long-time Democratic party activist with White House ties, as it turns out.
Florida native Jack Petocz is one of three students arrested by campus police after the incident on a charge of assaulting a security guard. Those arrested were also expelled by the university, while one student was suspended and 22 more put on probation. After his expulsion, Petocz penned a rambling, whiny, and bigoted Twitter/X thread about the ordeal, claiming that he was expelled "for the ultimate crime of caring as 33,000 people

Republican Senator JD Vance from Ohio was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo this weekend to discuss Biden’s border crisis.
Senator Vance emphasized the need to have President Trump back in office to secure our nation’s border.
“We’ve got to do everything we can to re-elect Donald Trump because if we had him, we wouldn’t be dealing with a president who wants to have an open border,” Senator Vance said.

In the Wall Street Journal, Holman Jenkins reviews the dishonorable role that the intelligence community played in the 2016 and 2020 elections, and predicts more of the same. In 2016:
A Democratic presidential campaign, representing the incumbent party, fabricated evidence that its Republican opponent and the eventual president-elect was a Russian agent, and the in-power party’s FBI legitimated the evidence in the eyes of the media so it would be widely reported and believed by the public.
To make sure it was believed, top intelligence officials of the outgoing administration went on cable television to call the new president a Russian mole

Six months ago today, on October 7, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel to inflict horrific atrocities on civilians of all ages, committing the worst single day of massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Yet six months later, much of the world is sympathizing with the guilty and attacking the victims in the Hamas-Israel conflict!
Six months ago, babies were burned alive and/or beheaded, whole families were gunned down, women were raped to death, and civilians of all ages were kidnapped. Gazans celebrated the mass murder, and the Palestinian Authority rewarded the jihadis with cash. How much clearer does it need to be? Yet leftists have gone wild with

President Joe Biden has helped balloon the number of foreign nationals living in the United States who are eligible or receiving Temporary Protected Status (TPS), making them ineligible for deportation, to nearly 1.2 million.
Analysis from the Pew Research Center reveals that as of late last month, almost 1.2 million foreign nationals are eligible or receiving TPS so they can stay in the U.S., secure work permits, and avoid deportation.Since taking office, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has added Afghanistan, Burma, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Venezuela to the list of countries where nationals residing in the U.S. but who do not have any immigration status can qualify for TPS.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently reported that the Consumer Price Index rose in February for the second consecutive month, debunking happy talk by the White House and the corporate media to the effect that inflation is under control. The cumulative increase in the overall cost of living since President Biden took office in has now reached 18 percent (snip). This is why the RealClearPolitics average shows that 61.7 percent of voters disapprove of Biden’s performance on this issue. This level of disapprobation is related to his stubborn refusal to take any responsibility for causing inflation in the first place.

Passengers on a Houston-bound Southwest Airlines flight watched in horror Sunday as an engine on the Boeing 737-800 appeared to come apart mid-flight.
The flight immediately returned to Denver after crew members noticed a removable sheet of metal covering one of the plane’s engines sheared off during takeoff.
In a terrifying video posted on X by ABC’s chief transportation reporter Sam Sweeney, the metal engine cover can be seen whipping in the breeze like paper as it tore loose. In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said a part of the aircraft called an engine cowling had detached and struck one of the plane’s wing flaps.

Department of Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine opened up about questioning gender identity at a young age, saying transgenderism was part of her "earliest" memories from childhood in an interview.
Levine, one of the highest-ranking transgender officials in the government, discussed those memories in an interview with "The Advocate" on Monday.
