Teens in the tri-state area are getting fake ADHD diagnoses in order to win extra time on the SATs and ACTs.
High school juniors enrolled at expensive prep schools have been taken to doctors and phycologists by their parents in order to obtain documentation that says their child has ADHD, depression or anxiety.
Ivy League colleges have decided to reintroduce entrance exams, which were previously made optional during the Covid pandemic.
An expert told the New York Post that students who have obtained official diagnoses have gotten as much as 50 percent more time on the tests, which can translate into a 200-point increase on their overall score.

I'm a woman who was late diagnosed (age 54) ADHD.
I've struggled all my life with the difficulties of having it, particularly because it presents differently than many, and it's infuriating that punks like these think its a free ride.
So much entitlement.

Nothing new. This was going on at my university when I was a kid (uh, a long time ago) and you didn't have to be rich.
You went into the campus medical office, signed up for an adhd test, and gave the right well known answers to all the questions. Get yourself an adhd and a dyslexia diagnosis for free during the same 20 minute consultation/test.
Take your tests in a quiet room with unlimited time and often be allowed to use the books, a calculator, etc.

The SAT's are to determine possible academic aptitude. Giving more time on the test defeats the purpose. They need to stop catering to those who can't hack it. They need to study subjects congruent with their true ability.

Extra time for the test doesn't translate to a successful college experience.

So, Emma and the Daily Lie don't give one explanation how they determined that the diagnosis were fake. Yet, its in the headline! What if kids had ADHD and didn't want the official diagnosis because of social stigmata. And now that there is a free (schools pay for it) and advantageous reward, are willing to get the diagnosis. And since everyone else is doing it now, its no longer a stigma by the new cool fad. And didn't a Democrat Senator do a very similar thing by using quota rules to advance her career? It's not like people in the Northeast done cheap to get ahead or anything.

A “successful” college experience doesn’t necessarily translate to a “successful” career. On-the-job sites will shake out the fakers and cheaters, except government jobs, an entirely different deal.

My sister did disability determinations for 25 years. She is a Ph.D. in Child Development and licensed psychologist. The number of rich kids gaming the college system is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands of kids aged up to 18 who apply for-and get- Medicaid and disability $ due to schools who get extra $$ to provide "services" to "disabled" students who may be 16-17, rarely attend class, and are "classified disabled" by the edu-crats running the school systems. The number of parents getting "crazy checks" because their kids have been classified as having learning disabilities is twice the number of those who are getting disability because they have genuine mental impairments such as I"ntellectual Impairment" formerly known as Mental Retardation. Talk about incentives!

EVERYONE should take the tests under exactly the same conditions and rules, NO special treatment for anyone.

Cheating to get more time to take the SATs so they can get into an overpriced college, resulting in thousands of dollars of debt for a useless degree. Knock yourself out.

My high school counselor encouraged all of us to plan on taking the SAT twice. Once to get a feel for the test. Then to study again and retake the test. I finished the second test before the time limit and my score was hundreds of points higher. Teachers used to encourage students to put in good old fashioned hard work, and it paid off. Go figure.
Now they coach them how to game the system to get themselves fraudulently more time to take the test. Unless they haven't totally diluted the SAT's; if you don't know the answers, it doesn't matter how long you stare at the question.

Yes, #14, and then they will cheat the whole time they're at that university/college, send out AI generated resumes, enter the "work" force utterly incompetent to meet even the simplest tasks, and have no intention to pay those loans, ever. Sad.

No real advantage there, most of them will be too stupid to increase their scores if given all day to take the tests. Being awarded a Gender Studies or Journalism degree is not going to get them much of a job afterwards.

Not really the news! This has been going on for years, it just comes up every graduation-prep season. Like clockwork. You didn't teach 12th grade for 40 years; you taught 12th grade 40 times.

There is NO WAY to stack the deck to favor anyone without someone unintended taking advantage of the system. The moral of the story is to QUIT TRYING TO STACK THE DECK! You cannot make the world a fair place, nature itself mitigates against equity. We are all born with advantages and disadvantages compared to our fellow man. The best we can do is to allow each individual maximum freedom and let them do the best they are personally able to do.
