The United Steelworkers Union has endorsed President Joe Biden, giving him support from another large labor union.
The announcement Wednesday by the Pittsburgh-based union came less than a week after Biden voiced opposition to the planned sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon Steel of Japan, saying it’s vital that the company remain American owned and operated.
The USW, which represents 850,000 workers in metals, mining, rubber and other industries, said Biden has a track record of supporting retirement security, affordable health care and laws that help workers, all important issues to its members.

Anyone ask the rank and file? The ones from Bethelem Steel and others who have lost their jobs or will, when Biden welcomes the Chinese car companies to North America.

The endorsement by the union's political elite is irrelevant. Blue-collar union members overwhelmingly support Trump. And the union leadership knows it.

Support a politician who does everything possible to shut down your industry.
I’m thinking this union doesn’t do a good job of representing its members.

Headline should read "Steel worker union officials endorse Biden". II doubt that they had rank and file peeps vote on it. Steelworkers are in the union because they are forced to. They aren't so different from other blue collar workers. Nor any different from UAW who also "endorsed" Diaper Joe. They love Trump and will vote for him.

A few years ago there was a video of Trump (when President) visiting the coal country in SE Ohio near the Pennsylvania border. He was filmed with coal workers who had just gone back to work after years of idling. Stout, strong men in beards and helmets were literally sobbing like babies holding his hands. Very few pictures about Labor and the Labor movement have affected me as much!

Those greedy United Steel Workers union folks are incapable of learning. Four decades ago their excessive demands closed all of the steel mills up and down the Monongahela River and turned the mills into rust and ruin, causing the economy of local communities to collapse.
Being well-fed isn't enough for these folks--they have to be gluttons.

One would think the steel workers would support someone who would have THEM produce the steel and protect their jobs rather than to support someone who would foist cheap, unreliable CHINESE steel into the market they are hoping to serve.
The big bosses on the high salary payroll are the ones who will get political favors if they will come, not the steel WORKERS. Posters 2, 4, and 6 are right on!

Those who support Biden must enjoy being unemployed. When the auto industry overseas cancels Detroit, why are people going to need steel?

when carter ran for president, he promised to close the steel mills and buy foreign steel. The unions over whelming voted for carter. he won, and closed the mills. I have not sympathy for union workers who voted their own jobs out of existence. (pretty sure the union boss's still had an income)
The brand new car I bought had rusted rocker panels 18 months after i bought the car. Dang thing was made with carters steel from overseas. I had to pay half the cost of replacing the doors. A lot of other people had the same problems with their cars. So it not only cost stoooopid dem union supporters, but others as well.

The unions' management nearly always endorse whichever Democrat is running. Most of the unions' rank and file voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020.

In 1960 US steelworkers numbered more than 700,000. Today, it's 83,000. These Biden voters are *not* voting for the steel industry or the United States. They are voting for their pensions and holding up steel companies for as much money as they can grab, including extra benefits even for retired workers (insurance, etc.)
