O.J. Simpson, the former football great who was accused of and ultimately acquitted of the brutal 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend, has died, according to his family. He was 76. "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," a statement from his family said. In May 2023, Simpson posted a video on X, then known as Twitter, revealing that he had recently "caught cancer" and "had to do the whole chemo thing."

Before he revealed his dark side, O.J. Simpson was admired by essentially everyone. He appeared with Arnold Palmer in Hertz commercials, played Nordberg in the Naked Gun movies, for a time was part of the world record 4x110 yards relay team (with Earl McCullough, Fred Kuller, and Lenox Miller), in addition to being among the NFL's greatest halfbacks. Great athlete, great personality, but ... About twenty years ago after returning from a Crystal Cruise to the Caribbean, my closest friend joined ten of his shipmates at a five star restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, and guess who came to dinner? O.J. and his pretty white girlfriend, invited by someone in the party. It was an interesting night. Nobody mentioned Nicole and Ron. O.J. joked and smiled with everyone, but when he attacked his steak with the steak knife, everyone was on alert. Ya never know.

Once, after the trial, I was on Buvndy Drive and stopped to have a look at the place where the murders took place. No street light nearby. It would have beern very dark at night. Heavily screened along the front of the property by hedges grown tall. A narrow entrance walkway fenced along bothnside with chain link and an unusual double gate. One would have had to go through one gate, walk a few steps, then go through another. There was a tree adjacent to the space within the gates. That is where he got Ron by surprise as he returned Nicole's glasses from the restaurant. OJ was stalking Nicole. Ron was caught up in that that night.

The gloves didn't fit, because they were patent leather. One thing everyone knows, who has ever owned a pair knows is, you can not get them wet, they will shrink 2 sizes. OJ's were soaked in blood and shrank 2 sizes like they all do. Prosecution wasn't smart enough to figure that one out.

DH and I were on a vacay to California, was in the neighborhood so DH looked for Bundy drive. Hard to find since the street sign was moved back from the street a little. The condo had plywood in the front but someone had made a hole in it so you could look in. I don't remember doing that. Drove by OJ's place and was surprised that my street and yard in St. Charles, MO was both larger than his 'estate.' He could also say hello to Fat Ted.

I still remember the day that Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman were killed, and he was on that long White Bronco chase. I was on leave in WVA after coming back from a 6-month Naval deployment. My wife woke me up because the tv was on CBS. Then came the trial with all of the characters and we all know what happened after that. I also remember Orenthal James Simpson in The Naked NFL and those Hertz car rental commercials. Cancer is just awful and I don't wish it on anyone. May he finally be at peace and my sincere condolences to his family.

The day of the infamous slow speed Bronco chase, I recorded a six hour VCR which has been hiding in a closet for the last twenty years, one that included everything important that happened that day. The tape is labeled with something like "Nordberg! NORDBERG! What have you done? Frank Drebbin is coming after you." Someday my heirs will see that tape. I had heard the 911 call from Nicole two years before. O.J. could be heard yelling in the background, and what he was yelling was not nice. His (then) wife was frightened for her life. In retrospect, she should have been. That news report woke me up to the fact that O.J. might do the unthinkable. Then he did. Same as many Americans, I watched a lot of that trial. It would have been a mistrial if I had been on the jury. The evidence all pointed to O.J., because he did it. The jurors were moral cowards. Johnnie Cochran struck me as a bull artist.

#14, I remember reading that OJ had arthritis in his hands and was taking medication for it. Cochran had him quit taking the meds in the days leading up to the gloves being brought into the trial. OJ’s hands had swollen up due to the lack of meds and, presto! The gloves didn’t fit.

In the mid 70's I was a bridesmaid in a friends wedding. At the rehearsal dinner the conversation some how got around to OJ Simpson's football career. Everyone in the wedding party had gone to high school in San Francisco, except me. The best man, the grooms brother, was the same age as OJ. He started talking about OJ and all the trouble he had been in while he was in high school and every body in the group knew about it but me. They all couldn't believe how whitewashed OJ's reputation had become. They said he was always in trouble with the cops, stealing cars, robbery, all around bad guy. Even in high school he got away with it because he was a star football player and came from a disadvantaged home. I was shocked, I had no idea. I wasn't totally surprised when he was arrested for murder.

Amen to observation in #14. Plus, freeze the frames where on the video he did the courtroom try-on, and you might notice that the surgical gloves that he put on first (to go under the leather gloves) were only pulled down to the first knuckle past the palm, not all the way to the palm. The surgical gloves blocked the leather gloves from going all the way on, even if the shrunken glove hadn't done that, already. The whole scene was very carefully compromised.. If it fits? Re the leather gloves, any of us who wore white kid gloves when ladies did so, and had to periodically wash them, knew that they shrank as they dried. Got stiff. Thery had to be worked/massaged, palms, backs, and finger by finger, to get them softened and back to size. That was a major prosecution miss.

Joe Biden is a coward in every sense of the word. Cowardice emanates from him like rotting garbage. Cowardice overflows his speeches like a drain backing up from a clogged sewer line. Cowardice infects everything he touches. The well from which he extracts his cowardice is truly bottomless. To witness it, in its shameless, reeking putrescence, is utterly cringeworthy. There is nothing beneath the man. There is nothing he won't say or do to retain power. This is true of many politicians, but most understand in some Machiavellian sense that at least some show of strength, however artificial, is required from time to time. Even Barack Obama had a

As we reported, while Joe Biden released a written statement on the attack by Iran on Israel with more than 200 missiles and drones, he hadn't made an official public statement on it before now. A lot has come out that is concerning about it, including the reports that Biden had a heads up from Iran that it was coming that he went on vacation anyway and also told them to act "within certain limits." They used slow-moving drones so that Israel and the U.S. could respond and interdict most of the attack. So it sounds like it was basically a show and a collaboration with Iran.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act gets a do-over vote in the House on Monday thanks to a Hail Mary maneuver by Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna. Controversy always attaches itself to the reauthorization of this bill because it legalizes the wiretapping of American citizens. Yes, there are allegedly safeguards in place to ensure the Fourth Amendment is observed and our rights protected, but the history of FISA is one of abuse. During Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, we saw FISA weaponized as a tool to spy on Candidate Trump and, later, President-Elect Trump and his transition team. President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would not support him if he were to retaliate against Iran after the terrorist-backed country launched an attack on Israel Saturday night. Following the two leaders' phone call, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) accused the White House of deliberately leaking the audio to the public as a way to appease anti-Semitic supporters—or gain Biden back some votes ahead of the 2024 election. During a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Rubio said it was “part of the White House’s efforts to appease” and pander to “anti-Israel and pro-terrorist elements” of the Democratic Party.

No, the nation will not survive if there isn't a reckoning for politicians overtly working against Americans. History is full of stories of oppressed people rising and overcoming the tyrants who have wronged them. Sometimes the stories end with the two sides peacefully agreeing to make changes. Other times it has ended in a one-way walk up the stairs to a guillotine. Romania's despotic communist leader, Nicolae Ceausescu, had his brains relocated to a brick wall after Romanians had enough of his tyranny. One of the things that frustrated me about Trump’s (first?) term was his seeming complete indifference to #TheResistance that manifested before he even took office. Unelected bureaucrats working in the ridiculously invasive executive branch’s many agencies, publicly declared war on him, and he . . . well, he did nothing. Until the final year of his presidency when he seemed to finally take aim at the problem in his own branch of government–we can call it the deep state, the resistance, the entrenched bureaucrats who oversee far too much policy in America and who are, apparently, answerable to no one. There never was, and No Labels is finished. “No such candidates emerged, so the responsible course of action is for us to stand down,” Jacobson said. She added that the group
About That Inevitable Transition to Electric Vehicles... 9 replies

A funny thing happened on our way to our all-electric future: reality. I've written at length in recent weeks about Presidentish Joe Biden's hamfisted and wrongheaded EPA rules meant to force everybody into electric vehicles, whether EVs suit their needs or not. But maybe nothing to compare to Oliver Price's headline on Wednesday, asking "Is this the end of the EV?" Well, no. But we're still far, far away from the end of dino-burning engines — and likely to stay that way for far longer than the grifters in the EV industry and the autocrats in Washington (and several states, too) would have you believe.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday on NBC’s “The Kelly Clarkson Show ” that Arizona’s recently reinstated abortion ban is “cruelty.” Clinton said, “It is horrifying in every way. You know, I feared it would happen, but I hoped it wouldn’t happen, and now here we are in the middle of this very difficult period for women in about half the states of our country.”She continued, “There’s another element to it which I find so troubling. I mean, there’s a kind of cruelty to it. No exceptions for rape, incest, I mean, really? There’s a cruelty toward women, toward women’s lives.”

President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign “plans to spend every day until November 5” hammering the issue of abortion and painting former President Donald Trump and Republicans as extreme, the Washington Post reported. Biden campaign officials reportedly see abortion as a “potential silver bullet” and hope the issue will “mobilize their core voters, bring disaffected voters back into the fold, and make inroads with voters whom Democrats have often struggled to win,” White House reporter Tyler Pager wrote, noting that the tactic comes as many Americans are worried about Biden’s age and inflation, which “threatens to hurt his reelection.”

Jury selection was underway on Monday morning for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s lawfare case against Trump related to ‘hush payments’ made to porn star Stormy Daniels. Last April Trump was hit with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and conspiracy. Alvin Bragg still hasn’t named the underlying felony after he twisted the law and somehow upgraded the misdemeanor charges that were past the statute of limitations – to felonies. The fix is in.

In 410AD, the city of Rome was sacked by the Visigoths under their king, Alaric. The Germanic tribes had invaded Italy and laid siege to the Eternal City, eventually breaking in and putting Rome to the sack. Now, today, the United States faces some implacable enemies. Still, there is a difference between Rome in 410 and the U.S. in 2024: Our enemies are already within the city walls, and the civic leadership seems unwilling to do anything about it. On Saturday, "anti-war activists" gathered in a Teamster's Union hall in Chicago. The Free Press' Olivia Reingold brings us an account, including a video of the activists shouting "Death to Israel" and

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that pro-Hamas agitators are blocked off a road entering Chicago O’Hare Airport while police are doing nothing, forcing some travelers to ditch their cars and walk to the airport. Now, they have completely shut down the Golden Gate Bridge as police arrive to confront them in riot gear. According to KGO-TV, the protest started Monday morning on Northbound I-880 in Oakland where agitators blocked every single lane. They brought barrels onto the roadway and reportedly chained themselves to the barrels. In the video below, the protesters can be seen holding signs reading “Stop the World for Gaza” and End the Siege on Gaza Now!”

New York Times (NYT) reporter Maggie Haberman claimed that former President Donald Trump appeared to “doze off” during the start of his hush money criminal trial in Manhattan. In an article that Haberman wrote in the NYT, Trump was described as being “alternately irritated and exhausted” as jury selection for the trial, which centers around alleged hush-money payments the former president made to adult entertainment star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election, began. Haberman wrote: Even as a judge was hearing arguments on last-minute issues in a criminal case that centers on salacious allegations and threatens to upend his bid for the presidency, Mr. Trump appeared to

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden released their tax returns Monday that showed that their income rose 7 percent to nearly $620,000 in 2023 and that the couple paid 23.7 percent of their income in federal taxes. The first couple's combined income was $619,976 last year and they paid $146,629 in federal taxes. Biden and his wife earned four-fifths of their income from their jobs as president and teacher at Northern Virginia Community College, respectively.

There were shocking scenes on the streets of New York City on Monday as Palestinian activists set fire to an American flag being held by Israel supporters while chanting 'Death to America!' right under the noses of the NYPD. There were audible gasps as the Stars and Stripes being held by a pro-Israel counter-protestor was set alight and then waved in the air - as bright yellow flames could be seen coming from the flag. Police officers stationed at the protest outside the New York Stock Exchange could be seen wrestling the flag and stamping out the fire as it was brought to the ground.

Lawmakers and privacy experts on both sides of the political spectrum are sounding the alarm on a provision in a spy powers reform bill that one senator described as one of the “most terrifying expansions of government surveillance” in history. Eighty-six House Republicans last Friday voted for the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA), a bill that would reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Section 702 is a government surveillance authority that is meant to target foreign adversaries, but often surveils Americans’ communications without a warrant.

The first quarter of 2024 has seen the number of measles cases recorded in the U.S. stand significantly higher than in recent years, a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) details. Americans have reported a total of 338 cases since January 1, 2020—and 97 cases, or 29 percent of the total, came between the start of 2024 and March 28, per the report. And as of April 11, the number of cases in 2024 had risen to 121. “What was surprising about 2024 is that we’ve seen a significant increase,” John Brownstein, an epidemiologist at Boston Children’s Hospital, told ABC News’ Mary Kekatos.

And he’s doing it to the point that Lawrence made, he knows he will never spend a day, a second, a moment in prison. But for me, there is something wonderfully poetic about the fact that despite the fact that even if convicted, he’s not going to go to prison, the first person to actually

White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby appeared on "Fox News Sunday" with host Shannon Bream and claimed that it was actually former President Trump who emboldened Iran to attack Israel on Saturday and that the Biden administration’s release of billions of dollars in frozen funds to the Islamic Republic had little bearing on the matter. As Biden himself likes to say, “C’mon man.” If you have a drug-addicted relative, the one thing you certainly don’t do is give them money or even give cash to their acquaintances because said relative will certainly find a way to get their hands on it.
