House to vote on TikTok legislation this week

It was a stark warning at the worldwide threats hearing in the Senate Monday. "China's aspirations for greater geopolitical power will probably become all the more apparent," said Avril Haines, director of national intelligence. Amid discussion of two brutal wars, came alarms about TikTok. Lawmakers are preparing to vote on the fate of the app. A bipartisan measure would force the app's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell TikTok or potentially be banned in U.S. app stores and web-hosting services. Critics of the bill, like the ACLU, call it "unconstitutional," saying the move would be a blow to free speech.

While I agree with #1 & #2, TikTok is a real problem in this country. It is not some benign internet folly. Plus, Congress should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. However, we have found out that they seem to be unable to open the package without assistance. Their investigations drag out and accomplish little, but I believe that is by design. Otherwise, there would be real substantive changes made and we see little accomplished. They should be ashamed but they have their heads in the rarified air in Washington DC and believe they are making a difference in our lives when they are not. TikTok is poisoning American minds. It is addictive and harmful and should not be allowed. It is a vehicle for subversion of the culture by the Chinese. It is not the funny little videos that it is portrayed to be. It is an insidious breaking down of norms and is a big reason we are experiencing culture rot in this country. It is a weapon of war dressed up as entertainment. It is a digital Trojan Horse.

The ACLU doesn't give a rat's ass about free speech, the minute they approved the term of "Hate Speech" which is entirely subjective , Free Speech went out the window. So please, tell those T R E A S O N O U S lawyers to go pound sand!

"the ACLU, call it "unconstitutional," saying the move would be a blow to free speech. " But the Left's systematic (and now automated) censorship of the Right online is called defense of speech. I guess that goes with their effort to destroy Democracy in the name of defending it.

New York City shelters are overwhelmed with migrants. Many of them have arrived in Texas or Florida and then taken buses to New York, where shelter and benefits are guaranteed. However, the city is scrambling as the number continues to climb and the migrants look to build a new life in America, which includes housing and work. But for companies like Tyson Foods Inc., struggling to fill unpopular jobs with a U.S. unemployment rate of 3.9%, this new population presents an alluring opportunity. The food processing company wants to hire 52,000 asylum seekers for factory jobs, offering a starting wage of $16.50 per hour along with benefits.

Another Ramadan is upon us, and as is always the case, the eager-to-be-fooled infidels are out in force. A Catholic diocese in Italy has just called upon priests and laypeople to seek out opportunities to participate in Ramadan observances, as a gesture of goodwill toward Muslims. When will Muslim leaders tell Muslims to participate in Christian worship to show friendship with Christians? Don’t hold your breath. The Catholic Herald reported Friday that the Italian diocese of Bergamo is “instructing its priests to participate in Islamic rituals, citing Pope Francis’ directives on interreligious dialogue.”

Six Americans are still being held hostage by Hamas, and Biden has sent no troops to help them, but at the State of the Union address, he promised to send troops to build a pier for Gaza. The estimated over 1,000 troops will spend as long as 2 months laboring to build a floating pier in a war zone under potential attack to help transfer aid to the Hamas supporters living in Gaza. Nothing about this plan makes sense. The media has taken to falsely claiming that the Arab Muslims occupying parts of Gaza are starving.

The NAACP is actively encouraging Black student-athletes not to attend public colleges and universities in Florida due to the state's new diversity, equity and inclusion policies. The announcement comes as reports surfaced that the University of Florida is closing its DEI office after the passage of the Individual Freedom Act, commonly known as the "Stop WOKE Act." State officials say the act prohibits institutions from using state or federal funds to administer programs that "categorize individuals based on race or sex for the purpose of differential or preferential treatment."

At the marble base of the statue is a rendering of the box score from Bryant’s 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006. In that box score, the name of former NBA player Jose Calderon is misspelled as “Jose Calderson,” and former player Von Wafer’s name appears as “Vom Wafer.”

[SNIP] Now, Young is returning to Spotify and claims his decision stemmed from his belief that competing services owned by Apple and Amazon have also become home to disinformation.

Texas governor Greg Abbott has turned the screw on the Biden administration by barring federal agents from one of the hottest flashpoints on the southern border. The White House was already demanding the Supreme Court allow it to rip down miles of razor wire the state government has strung across a 29-mile section of the border around Eagle Pass. Now the Texas National Guard has barred Border Patrol agents entirely from the 2.5-mile section of Shelby Park and defiantly stationed its military vehicles at the entrance to block access. 'That is not a decision that we agreed to,' Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas wrote as he reported the show of force on Facebook.

Top microchip makers are postponing their expansion into the U.S. and setting up shop in Israel and Russia due to equity caveats that are required for them to receive grants from the U.S. government. The Biden administration promised earlier this year that they would be handing out $39 billion in grants to encourage semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S. Shortly after the announcement however, Intel announced they would be holding off on their Columbus factory, while Samsung also delayed their facility in Texas. Despite the billions in subsidies, two experts believe the tech companies' decision to back out of building manufacturing facilities in the U.S. stems from the diversity, equity and inclusion policy.
