You would wish that Republicans were as ruthless about enforcing the rules as Democrats, but when faced with a 53-year-old man as entitled and spoiled as the president’s son, they are in new territory. The contrast with the Trump family could not be more stark. Unlike Hunter, who defied a House Oversight Committee subpoena to stage a press conference on Capitol Hill and later gate-crash a hearing, Don Trump Jr. testified five times for more than 40 hours to Democrat-led congressional committees without pulling any stupid stunts.

Voters continue to question the economy under President Biden as they debate who to support in the presidential election, citing high grocery prices and mortgage rates. The Washington Post spoke to voters in Phoenix, Georgia, Milwaukee and Las Vegas about the economy and who they plan to vote for in 2024.
Daniel Busby, from Las Vegas, did not vote in the 2016 and 2020 elections and is unsure about voting for Biden in 2024. He told The Post that they had to put their plan to purchase a home on hold, due to continuous rising costs.

Despite nominal salary increases at their fastest pace in years, American workers are now worse off than when the President took office. In summary, the prices have increased by 16.6%, while real wages have declined by 2.5%, meaning Americans have taken a 2.5% pay cut under the current administration.

When faced with the possible return of former President Donald Trump, the current agenda of the Democratic Party is summed up simply as "We had to destroy democracy to save it."
The effort shares a common theme: Any means necessary are justified to prevent the people from choosing their own president, given the fear that a majority might vote to elect Trump.

This week, the Republican-controlled House will begin contempt proceedings against Hunter Biden with a vote expected as early as this week. That alone will be an historic moment for Congress to declare that the son of a sitting president may have committed a federal felony. However, the costs may not be borne by Hunter alone. If the Democratic members, as expected, unanimously oppose the contempt sanction, the party could fundamentally undermine its position in future investigations.
The Democratic leadership has made a series of similar decisions in the last decade that have cost the party dearly by opting for immediate political benefits over long-term interests.

The bipartisan sponsors of a new bill to target chronic absenteeism want to model a piece of advice from novelist Jean Shepherd: “In God we trust, all others pay cash.”
In a proposed two-year pilot program, Republican state Rep. Bill Seitz and Democratic Rep. Dani Isaacsohn, both of Cincinnati, said cash transfers would be sent to kindergarteners and ninth graders.
