Attorney General Merrick Garland asserted in an interview Friday that former President Donald Trump’s trial in special counsel Jack Smith’s case against him should be quick as the 2024 presidential election approaches. Smith has repeatedly endeavored to speed up the timeline of the case in order to maintain the scheduled March 4 trial date. Garland said he is in agreement with Smith about accelerating the trial in the interview with CNN justice correspondent Evan Perez on “CNN This Morning.” (snip) “Special prosecutors followed the facts and the law,” Garland responded to a question about whether the case should have been brought sooner. “They brought cases when they thought they were ready.”

Legislation for "speedy trials" is intended to benefit the accused, not the state. Biden's AG is urging a speedy trial for someone he has and his democrat operatives have accused of a crime, a blatantly political example of doubling down on lawfare to remove the leading presidential candidate of one of the two main political parties in the US, during the presidential election year of '24.

Isn't the right to a speedy trial for the benefit of the DEFENDANT, to prevent the state from railroading a political opponent and deny them the opportunity to present a full and adequate defense? Of course, a defendant would like a speedy trial to clear his name. But it is the DEFENDANT'S option.

Garland was just giving Judge Chutkin a tip as to how she should rapidly move again with the Trump matter. The Biden crew, and the leftist and socialist Democrats want Trump in jail between the Republican Convention and Election Day in November, little doubt about that.

So, the article mentions special counsel Jack Smith, and Merrick Garland says Special Prosecutors followed the facts and law (very debatable outside of what's proving to be extremely biased jury pool). They REALLY believe it's all been above board, huh?

Of course he wants a speedy trial, now that it appears increasingly likely that the current shot at getting Trump will fail. They really hope to give him the Fernando Villavicencio treatment, which has better odds of succeeding if they can get him into jail, first. And a quick finish of this trial could give them time to hurry Trump through another one.

In retrospect, perhaps Fani Willis should have kept her mouth shut. Yesterday, the embattled Fulton County DA filed a motion in the Wade v Wade divorce action asking to quash a subpoena for her testimony. Rather than just argue that her testimony would be irrelevant in a case where both spouses agree that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” — certainly an arguable position — Willis accused Jocelyn Wade of “obstruction” of her prosecution of Donald Trump et al. And then Willis went one step further in accusing Mrs. Wade of infidelity as the cause of the divorce. Big mistake. Big, big mistake. And when I say “big,” I mean monumental:

The study from the Committee to Unleash Prosperity found ruling class opinions on climate policies were particularly harsh and despotic. More than two-thirds of the 1 percent support rationing vital energy and food sources in an attempt to control the globe’s weather.
