The US election looms. Arab Americans
feel stuck between a rock and a hard place

Arab, Muslim and younger voters face a choice between Biden, who does little to stop mass Palestinian death, and the xenophobic Trumpe have a chaotic and unpredictable election year ahead. That would normally elicit anxiety, but mostly I’m feeling hopeless. The election is less than a year away, and Joe Biden’s approval rating has sunk to its lowest level yet, clocking in at a paltry 38%, according to a recent Washington Post average of 17 different polls. Biden’s unblinking support for Israel and unwillingness to demand a ceasefire has made dear Uncle Joe appear to many as just another callous politician, numb to Palestinian suffering.

A good question. Where you are from, how important is that? Are you Arab first, or American? As a society, we are on a precipice, and many things are forcing us closer and closer to the edge. The lack of order and lack respect for life is destroying our society right here, in our cities, in our neighborhoods, and our leaders are feeble or apathetic about this. Instead of initiating peace talks and negotiations, our government sends bombs. In peaceful countries, the US intervenes and causes conflict and more war. Our leaders don’t care about foreign countries. Not enough to leave the people alone to live peaceful lives. Today we live under the curse we have brought on ourselves. Our cities are dirty and sick, in the suburbs, we the homeowners, workers, and retired people are barely making ends meet. Problems elsewhere are deep, but our record as the world’s savior has been dreadful. It’s better to let foreign powers solve their own problems, while we solve our problems. Are the author’s group of Americans on board with this project? We need everybody we can get. United we stand, divided we fall. Let’s take a good look at Congress, and our local government first. Are they part of the problem, or part of the solution? It’s time for them to live up to their promise to maintain a decent society for everybody. There’s room for everybody.

Ummm...the word, "xenophobic," only applies if Trump's fear is disproportionate to the threat of muslim terrorism. Every infidel is right to be fearful of being murdered by muslims, because that's what their holy book tells them to do, and they won't renounce it...in fact, they celebrate it. If that's xenophobic, then you've redefined the word.

There is no rock nor a hard place as it's very simple. Either you support the raping, pillaging and slaughtering of others because in this case their religious beliefs are different than yours and you have a problem when they defend themselves or you do not. If you do, then guess what you are the problem.

It's hard to care about Arabs and muslims when the majority of them in this country cause a lot of controversy in pursuit of their centuries old mission to destroy all Christians and non muslims. Yeah, the guy down the street is friendly but he and his wife are working on their sixth child and I have never been invited into their home. My evaluation is that they will be voting for democrats since the freebies flow like water when they are in office.

Legal woes that would have buried a candidate have become a feature of Trump’s 2024 run as other Republicans hit campaign trail in IowaFour candidates were on the campaign trail, meeting and greeting voters in frigid Iowa. A fifth was sitting in a courtroom in rainy Washington, trying to fend off a criminal case that might land him in jail. But in the upside-down, topsy-turvy world of American politics, it is Donald Trump – not Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson or Vivek Ramaswamy – who is expected to win the first Republican presidential nominating contest in a landslide next week.

Ensuring the integrity of elections is... a fundamental requirement to support the legitimacy of the American democratic republic. We do not have to speculate about the motives of The 65 Project. The head of the group has admitted that their goal is "to deter right-wing talent from signing on to any future GOP efforts" to challenge elections, not only by bringing bar complaints but to "shame them and make them toxic in their communities and their firms." The 65 Project's straight-faced motto, incidentally, is, "Defending Democracy and the Rule of Law." If only! We are witnessing a shift in the legal system from lawyers representing and defending clients to lawyers becoming the accused,
