Transgender Ohio House candidate fails
to make ballot for not listing former name

Original Article

A transgender woman running for the Ohio House was rejected from the ballot for not listing her former name. Vanessa Joy was the only Democrat seeking the Ohio House 50th District seat, which forms a U-shape in Stark County and includes Canal Fulton, East Canton, Massillon and Minerva. Joy had enough valid signatures to qualify. Problem was, Stark County's four-member Board of Elections found a flaw in her petitions because she legally changed her name in 2022 and did not include her former name on the petitions she'd circulated, as required by law.

Its just a state house position, so likely has little to no impact. Still, I'm sure the other house members appreciate not having to look at a freak and pretend its human.

1. She/He states that in the Trans community your old name is your dead name. Guess what. You are not running to represent the Trans community, You are running to represent the 50th Ohio District House seat representing everyone. 2. The article fails to mention the "dead name". Why? Was Vanessa Joy hiding something. Maybe the old male version of Vanessa was a not a very nice person. Who knows? 3. The rules are the rules. If you were anyone else who had recently changed your name (recently married), you would have certainly used also provided your old name as a reference for others as required by law. You are not special just because you are Trans. Follow the rules. If you cannot read simple directions to complete forms, you should not be a State Representative.

Mentally ill and stupid on top of that. I realize that's not a deal breaker for a democrat but Ohio doesn't seem to be too particular when it comes to politicians. There is only one reason why transgenders try so hard to get into the government, so they can bring their friends in with them and have a gay old time.

Well, we’re finally here. Is this the future that you envisioned? Nearly 100 years ago, a group of visionaries dared to imagine what life would be like in 2024. Some of their prophecies fell woefully short while others proved to be strangely accurate. Join us now as we gaze into that crystal ball from 1924. [SNIP] Arthur Dean, whose parental advice column appeared in newspapers across the country, expressed concerns about American dietary habits. “I sometimes wonder what our stomachs will look like and be like 100 years from now,” he wrote. “Will we have any teeth at all? Will there be any color on our face except paint?"

Mariah Carey's iconic festive hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You, has won millions of fans across the world with its feel-good lyrics and music video. The 1994 track shoots to the top of the charts every Christmas - with Carey proudly dubbing herself 'the Queen of Christmas' and making an estimated $3million off the track every year. However, the fraught backstory to the track means it has lost a touch of its festive sparkle - as Carey was slammed in December 2022 by the song's co-writer Walter Afanasieff for allegedly 'spinning a tall tale' about composing the track as a child on a keyboard.

Christmas is banned in North Korea, but that is not stopping a group of activists from sending messages of hope, faith and freedom to the people suffering under the dictatorship of Kim Jong Un. [SNIP] In fact, in 1907, in Pyongyang, there were so many Christians who believed in Jesus that Pyongyang became known as a Holy City. But when Kim II Sung came to power, he wanted North Koreans to worship him as a god, and not the one true God. So, he killed many Christian leaders, sent others to political prison camps, or banished them.

She added that the person on the other end of the intercom responded with explicit language, telling her that he was the manager. As the woman drove to the window, police say three Dunkin' employees walked out of the store to confront the customers. "During this altercation, the three employees brandished handguns."

Pope Francis turned 87 on Sunday, closing out a year that saw big milestones in his efforts to reform the Catholic Church as well as health scares that raise questions about his future as pope. Francis celebrated his birthday with cake during a festive audience with children Sunday morning, and there were “Happy Birthday” banners in St. Peter’s Square during his weekly noon blessing. One early present came Saturday, when a Vatican tribunal handed down a mix of guilty verdicts and acquittals in a complicated trial that Francis had supported as evidence of his financial reforms. The biggest-name defendant, Cardinal Angelo Becciu, was convicted of embezzlement.

Scientists have developed the world's first mind-reading AI that translates brainwaves into readable text. It works using a sensor-covered helmet that looks at specific electrical activity in the brain as the wearer thinks, and turns these into words. The revolutionary tech was pioneered by a team at the University of Technology Sydney, who say it could revolutionize care for patients who have become mute due to a stroke or paralysis. A demonstration video shows a human subject thinking about a sentence shown on a screen, which then switched to what the AI model decoded - and the results are nearly a perfect match.

She’s the worst – self-righteous, annoying, always spewing grrrl-power nonsense and hack clichés salvaged from the back catalog of the Weekly Standard. She’s a disaster on every level, one of those people who is both very aggressive and always wrong, the worst possible combination. We are about to embark on what might be one of the wildest years in the history of American politics, and it may end up merely a prelude. If 2024 is set to be tumultuous and unpredictable, just wait until 2025 if Donald Trump wins the presidency again this year. His adversaries don’t have a history of accepting his victories with equanimity. Trump’s unexpected victory in 2016 launched conspiracy theories about how Russia had helped him win; catalyzed a years-long law enforcement investigation into him and his campaign based on those theories; and set off protests in the streets. All that was mild, given what may yet be in the offing.

We have become a nation of Madame Defarges — eagerly knitting names of those to be subject to arbitrary justice. Former congressional candidate Gene Stilp, who’s made headlines by burning MAGA flags with swastikas outside courthouses, filed the challenge.
