"At long last, we’re building the first high-speed rail project in our nation’s history. And it’s starting here.”
That was President Joe Biden announcing last week that us taxpayers will be ponying up $3 billion to help a private company build a bullet train from Los Angeles to Las Vegas so gambleholics can start losing money more quickly.
The L.A. to Vegas train will supposedly be finished in time for the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028 — just four and half years from now.
Well, anything is possible. A private company is planning to build the thing and claims to have the route and rights-of-way all figured out. But

In Washington-Speak, three billion dollars equals $15 billion in the real world. Whatever happened to that other money-pit high speed rail to nowhere boondoggle out there in Kalifornia?

This is the perfect “vehicle” for domestic money-laundering. Unions, contractors and on and on, “donating” massive amounts of taxpayer cash to the Demoncrats.

I seems to me that everything the criminal psychopaths that make up government do is somehow related to laundering the trillions they have stolen from normal people. They then stash the loot in offshore accounts. The only thing on my bucket list is to see these gangsters brought to justice. That’s not going to happen because the gangsters run the “justice” system, as well.

California is bankrupt and needs a bailout. This is Biden's way of rewarding Newsom and himself for years of failure at the expense of the US taxpayer. There's a reason that this high speed rail is called a "first" and it's because the whole concept is stupid and guaranteed to be a huge money pit. That three billion might as well go to Zelenskyy because either way, we will not see a viable train by 2028. It could also be an admission that a Tesla can not make it from LA to Vegas without getting stranded in the desert.

our Brightline highspeed train between Orlando and Miami seems to be doing fine. About a 235 mile run at up to 125mph. Just upped the number of trains from 8 to 16 round trips per day.

I would love to see Biden on a fast train off a rail bridge. He has robbed and spent the peoples money and then took bribes for his own enrichment, while we suffer the consequences of his foolish actions. FJB.

I am stupefied to see how well this vacuous headed cardboard cutout has done his job for the "comrade mullah" and
- am equally stupefied to see how slow witted the Republican delegation in D.C. is in both houses of our government but most especially in the Senate

Why can't the people going to Las Vegas to lose money pay for their transportation infrastructure?

Three billion is a down payment. It probably won’t cover the land acquisition or legal fees.

I always thought that Congress controlled the purse strings. How does Biteme get to declare a billion here and a billion there?

A bullet train can be trumped by highways and airports that already exist. That is where money is better spent.

The only way the U.S. is going to build a high-speed train system is if some benevolent superpower funds the defense of our country using the taxpayer money from its citizens. Kind of like what the U.S. did for Europe.

The Democrat running every town the non-stop train passes through will demand the train stop there. Everybody will want a cut, he political negotiations will never end, and expenses will rise forever. If it ever gets finished, tickets will cost twice as much as taking a quick plane hop to Vegas, and nobody will ride on it.

There were stories a few years back about Harry Reid's family buying up land alongside I-15 between Barstow and Vegas. The Biden crime family is probably in on it, too.

#5: I believe that's just part of a deal to connect Disney World with the Canaveral cruse lines. Not sure it's going to make money otherwise. The Sanford - Orlando rail had been running almost empty. Make more money shutting it down.

California should pay their own bills. The reason they can be financially irresponsible is that Uncle Sugar keeps bailing them out.
