Could America move to a four-day work
week? Bernie Sanders launches push to
cut weekly hours for millions while they
take home the same pay

Senator Bernie Sanders believes it is long past time the United States moves away from a 40-hour workweek and establishes a 32-hour standard workweek without reducing workers' pay. The Vermont senator introduced legislation that would do just that. But his proposal is already being met with stiff opposition across the aisle. The Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act would reduce the standard workweek in the United States from 40 at 32-hours over four years while maintaining worker pay. It would also require overtime pay and a half for workdays longer than 8 hours and overtime doubling pay for workdays longer than 12 hours.

So Bernie, a famous economist, want to cut American productivity by 20%. That sounds like a great idea, something a never had a job Bernie would come up with.

Bernie seems to forget about places like nursing homes, hospitals, and other businesses that operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week 365 days per year. What do they do? They will need to hire more staff to cover the hours that the current staff will now not be required to work in order to avoid overtime costs. This assumes that they are able to actually find staff, as nobody currently wants to work thanks to all of the other idiotic government ideas to "help" people. Businesses like mine would simply close up shop as we would no longer be able to afford to operate as 90% of our expenses are payroll related and rates are set by the government (and they will not adjust rates for things like Bernie's idiotic idea).

Communists and Socialists must find a way to bring America down … why not make it a 16 hour week at the same pay? Perhaps we can only hire workers who can work with one hand tied behind their back. Hmmm … will illegals (compliments of Democrats) demand much less salary for that same job? Buenos Dias amigos! Better that they have something to DO to earn their welfare, than commit crimes, eh?

Doctors will be closed as well...Go to the ER for everything? No schools open? Colleges too I guess, No teachers, no workers, no classes. Busses trains, Planes, Taxis not working. Oh, Cops and Firefighters too? I was in the Carpenters Union...while the RULES they negotiated meant that NO ONE could be forced to work more than 8 hrs..The Contracts they negotiated required us to work 5 10's, 6 10's was actually "Expected", and particularly close to the completion of projects they really pushed us hard to come in on Sundays as well. Americans do work too much, to the detriment of our physical, mental, and spiritual health. However, we do not need the government to get involved in the work / life balance. Politicians have no particular expertise in running businesses; many of them have never even had a job in the private sector. Boeing does something smart: They close the production units for two weeks for Christmas and New Year. That is less expensive than trimming a day off the work week.
