Tuberville drops military holds – 'When
you change the rules, it’s hard to beat somebody'

After over nine months of holding up military promotions, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) announced Tuesday that he is releasing his hold on leadership nominees except for four-star generals… In response, the Senate rules committee passed a resolution last month to bypass Tuberville's holds. Tuberville initially did not believe the rule change would have the necessary GOP support to pass but changed his tune recently, expressing concern that Senate Democrats would get the nine Republican votes needed to pass.

Comments:

It sounds like he was sold out by rinos. He should have made them vote for the rules change though. Bad play coach. Very disappointed.

More proof the American people are being sold out by filthy republican politicians. Not that we needed more proof.

Agree with OP. Make them "put up" to make them shut up. He needed to dig deep inside and grind it out, just like he told his players hundreds of times in the past. This country has MORE Field Grade Officers (Generals & Admirals) in active duty than during WWII, yet the number of enlisted compared to that time is a fraction of the historic total.. What's changed? Officers like officers, and not so much the enlisted. Officers make promotion through "managing programs," more so than from leading troops. The military has become worse than their business Corporate counterparts. The infamous "upside down pyramid" comprised of "chiefs" to "indians" has never been sustainable. As I always say, "If you have a squad (12) of privates to perform a mission, one of them will step forward, organize the others, and proceed to capture the objective. If that squad of soldiers had all been Colonels, they'd all be arguing over who had more time in grade, their ranking on the promotion list, etc. rather than focusing on the mission at hand. Officers are mostly worthless." President Trump will need to "cull" the ranks, starting with eliminating every officer who currently advocates the "DEI" and "BLM" philosophy. It's time to eradicate the cancer from our military, before it kills troops.

Admirable try by Sen. Tuberville. I think it was all for naught. The leadership in all of the military branches is already full of wokesters.

Very disappointing. Tuberville remained strong despite the Democrat howls of outrage. He now has thrown in the towel to protect the cowardly Republican senators who would side with the Democrats. Just shows that even a fighter like Tuberville values his senatorial peers more than his constituents or the country.

Of course the liberal media is reciting the talking points from the WH by stating Tubberville got none of his demands so it was a waste of time. Never mentioning that the Senate changed the rules to essentially void his concerns.

“Accidents” of history are sometimes the Providence of God. In 1620 the Pilgrims sailed for America, intending to plant a colony in northern Virginia. But a storm blew them off course, and they found themselves off the coast of Massachusetts. Realizing God had steered them northward so they would not be under the authority of the Virginia Colony, they were now free to draft their own articles of government.

The 2023 election was another disappointing affair for Republicans. Kentucky and Ohio both produced results that should leave the GOP questioning what changes need to be made before the all-important 2024 election arrives. With that said, there were some bright spots. Specifically, in Virginia, Republicans showed a surprising level of strength despite falling short of taking the legislature. That's probably not what you are getting from the headlines this morning, but the numbers show an overperformance by the Glenn Youngkin-led GOP there.

Yet given the direction of these issues in our state, you’re likely perplexed as to who is really running Montgomery.

Much of the planet is holding its breath waiting for the next move in the war in Israel and wondering if it will spiral out of control into a wider regional war… Evil will always exist, but the greatest danger to free people are the so-called moderates that refuse to acknowledge or choose between good and evil. While most are unsuspecting, it is among the cowardly or undecided where Satan makes his greatest gains.

A wild crash on a California freeway was captured on video last week showing a car flip through the air after it struck a tire that popped off a pickup truck and was sent airborne. The accident happened Thursday on the Ronald Reagan Freeway in Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles. Anoop Khatra was driving behind a dark-colored Kia Soul in the left lane when her dashcam recorded the heart-pounding moment. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) is ordering Michigan’s state fleet of vehicles to be 100 percent electric by 2040. In a new directive Tuesday, Whitmer announced a move to bring the state’s fleet of vehicles down to zero greenhouse gas emissions in fewer than two decades. The goal, Whitmer wrote in the order, is “essential” for her administration’s green energy agenda. Whitmer wrote in the directive: Michigan is on the cutting-edge of mobility and electrification. Our world-leading auto industry is making the switch to electric, and we continue to attract battery, semiconductor, and clean energy investments from other states and nations. We must usher the future of mobility and clean energy into Michigan

That day, which President Franklin Roosevelt would notably call "a date which will live in infamy," is now recognized each year as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. According to the National Park Service, 2,403 service members and civilians were killed and another 1,178 people were injured in the attack. Two U.S. Navy battleships – the USS Arizona and the USS Utah – were also permanently sunk, and 188 aircraft were destroyed. Commemorations are held every year in Hawaii and across the country
