The director of Disney’s latest flop, The Marvels, Nia DaCosta, is blaming hateful sexist, misogynists for the massive box office failure. What is probably really upsetting Ms. DaCosta is that more men than women bought tickets to the film. Women, like me, are not at all interested in paying for a film starring macho women. No thanks, Disney. Real women like strong men, even fake ones portraying superheroes. The more I read about the antics of the hysterical Karens or view the sickening videos of moronic exhibitionists on TikTok, the more convinced that I am a female chauvinist.

Comments:

This is a terrific tribute to our patroness, Lucianne Goldberg.

I like a good strong woman character, but she has to grow and be believable. Characters like Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor from The Terminator, Princess Leia from Star Wars and even Wonder Woman didn't show up on the screen fully developed as Strong Women. No, they went through problems, had real emotions and were never the annoying Girl Boss character that Captain Marvel, Rey from Star Wars and just about every other female character is. I don't watch contemporary super hero movies anymore partially because of this.

I gave up on the MCU after the avenger's finale. It was ok although even more highly contrived than the rest of the movies but full of fun pew pew pew zot bong cgi so I enjoyed it enough. After that the characters, plots, etc took a huge dive. I saw 2-3 and stopped. When I saw the trailer for this one I was so turned off I don't think I'll even bother when it comes to Netflix or Prime for free. I had to look up 2 of the characters to even know who was in it. Super woke nonsense. Marvel lost it. Just like Star Wars and everything else popular, they can't resist woking the shows well past the point where normal people can still enjoy them, and kill the golden goose. Disney at their finest.

Nia. You and your colleagues have been deluded into thinking that Disney has some purpose other than making money. So why don't you get off your high horse, come down from your pulpit, and get back to work making a movie that we racist bigots will actually go to. Else you and all the rest of your moralizing 'sisters' will be unemployed. Unless begging for public assistance is really the job you're looking for.

Ms. Colon speaks for, I would bet, the majority of women. Tearing down men will not elevate women. It makes those that do so look petty, mean and even jealous. Like most matters in today’s world, abandoning what God intends leads to misery and confusion. Young women fall prey to the siren call of feminists because it speaks to their egos. It’s all about their empowerment. There is a strict ideology that must be followed. Being a full time mom and mother is “less than” in the feminist view and society is not better off because of it. We have had decades to compare the two paths and it is evident that one is superior when it comes to rearing children and having a good marriage. Men are certainly not exempt from criticism. Many have abandoned their responsibilities in life to pursue pleasure. Sadly, the Sixties created a false narrative in favor of free sex that we are paying for today. We have become an hedonistic society that believes everything goes and it not working in so many ways that is destroying the family which is the foundation of society.

What is saddest to me is not so much that impressionable young women bought the feminist delusion but that men fell in line also. I have wondered for years where our real men are. They should be down on the border with weaponry or protecting girls on subways or breaking heads at Antifa riots or confronting other men who lie to gain access to girl’s and women’s sports and locker rooms. I’m with Alicia. When I was still a Stridex and Dippity Doo using high schooler I babysat and worked as a Rexall drug store clerk. I paid for that $20 Maidenform with my own money and no way was it going to burn because Gloria Steinem said so. I love men too and am so tired of being disappointed by displays of spiritlessness on their part, their implied acceptance of radical feminism and their consequent refusal to lead with integrity.

I spent 5 years in the USAF and ended up supervising a flight line crew that were all men. I was never disrespected. I did my job right beside them. In later years I was asked why I wasn’t a ‘women’s libber’. I explained that I was already liberated without their help. Men and women both play a role and it works out well if it’s understood.

Great article! Alicia’s attitude needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Ever see a feminist’s face when a woman stands up for men? It’s priceless. #4, I hear you. I have always felt that way, until the Obama’s came along. Now they get the top spot. #10, THANK YOU. I’ve always thought that Ginger Rodger’s quote was in poor taste, and it really lowered my opinion of her. The fact is, and Ms. Rodgers knows this, is that standard choreography usually starts with the right foot. With partner dancing, the steps are taught facing front, and then when you partner up, it is men that have to do everything backwards, as they must start with the left foot.

I have always loved to read Alicia Colon's essays, and this one is no exception. Since I discovered Lucianne.com many years ago, Mrs. Colon has been featured many times, and has commented a number of times, also. Everything she says is so sensible and just correct. Hearing more about Lucianne Goldberg is always good. Her site has been my place to go most mornings for many years to read the news and hear comments from 'friends' whose faces I have never seen, but whose screen names are very familiar. Too bad there's no way to meet some of the esteemed posters on Lucianne.com in person. I think I'd enjoy a dinner with many of them. And my wife agrees exactly with Mrs Colon's views here: "Women do not belong in combat and should only become cops and firefighters if they are as physically large and fit as men. Lowering the entry requirements in male dominated industries to accommodate women only harms the effectiveness of those jobs." Never lower your standards for any job to accommodate some special interest group. Set standards of performance as required to get excellence in the JOB, and let the chips fall where they may. I wonder how many people weren't able to be rescued from a burning building by an affirmative action fireman who was a woman and not physically able to carry them out? My wife has pointed out, correctly that women police officers will have to "go to guns" far sooner in any physical confrontation with a large man than a physically large male officer would need to. Probably lives have been lost because a female officer had to shoot an offender, where a male officer may have been able to physically restrain him without shooting. The one exception to the "no women in combat" idea is military aircraft. Assuming no lowered standards of admission, not necessarily true today, women of equal ability can fly and fight a modern aircraft as well and easily as a man, physical strength isn't a major factor there with powered controls. Similarly, drone operators or various technical jobs like missile operators or radar operators can be equally well done by women or men. But for most combat jobs on the ground, less physically capable individuals will get people killed. I love Alicia Colon.

I found her comments on the feminist movement most enlightening. Recently we heard of hundreds of women raped, tortured, and murdered. Yet many feminists were strangely silent. It leads a person to ask what do they really stand for. First and foremost, they seem to stand for hatred and division. If they condone violence and murder, they won't be much different than Hamas. They all seem to have a cause, but one realizes it is just meaningless words for them. Just like the 'Palestinian' groups that don't really support 'Palestinians', you have feminist groups that don't really support women. As for Disney, they have always seemed to go through cycles though the current cycle kind of looks permanent. Anyone remember the Disney movie 'The Black Hole'? Disney's only attempt that I recall into science fiction. Totally awful movie.

I graduated high school in '72 at the height of the hysteria with NOW's Gloria and Betty Friedan. Unfortunately, my first two "love affairs" ended badly and I was drawn to feminism like a bee to a flower. I was mouthy about it, too. When I look back, I'm ashamed of my behavior. It's a wonder TK fell in love with me the first time, and a miracle he came back for me eight years later! Thank the Lord I had grown up in those intervening years! The just consequences of feminism and all things springing from "progressivism" are coming to their just ends, which is destruction. It is a great sorrow and pity because we may be past the point of no return. The pivot may yet be the election next year...if we can make it. Donald Trump is the quintessential American male and is gathering like men around him, along with strong American women. It is again the time of choosing; to speak against evil and act against evil where ever encountered in ways small or large. In God We Trust.

A quibble: The group with Gloria Steinem, et al, was the National Organization FOR Women, not of women. I married in 1976. At that time, every married couple was working out their relationship ad hoc, since so many of us did not want marriage as our parents had modeled it. When we bought the idea that women could have it all, soon we were required to do it all. Husbands expected wives to be employed, and they still expected wives to do the bulk of household chores and child-rearing. Men retreated from their roles as the head of the household, and they withdrew from leadership within their own homes. Single women were "liberated" to have casual sex, and soon it became a social requirement rather than a personal choice. Men were attracted to "liberated women" because they perceived opportunities for casual sex. I don't miss the '70s.

The illegal migrant inflow is hitting record highs at Eagle Pass, Texas, and it's out of control at entries across the southern border. Anyone ask what Mexico is doing about it? We know they're trying to keep them from flooding Tijuana by building a border fence in that area. But in that, they aren't stopping the migrants. (Snip) In reality, the Mexicans are helping the migrants cross into the U.S. for the exact same reasons that red border states are busing and flying illegal border crossers into their sanctuary cities of choice. The political class has spent a lot of time obsessing about former President Donald Trump's lead in the Republican early-voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. There's been less time devoted to how Trump is doing in some bigger states that follow the first three. Michigan holds its primary just three days after South Carolina. It's one of the biggest states on the primary calendar. And now a new poll by the Washington Post and Monmouth University shows that Trump has a 50-point — yes, a 50-point — lead in the Republican race there. The poll showed that 63% of likely Republican primary voters

Shakespeare would have had no use for President Joe Biden. If given the opportunity to dramatize his story, the Bard of Avon undoubtedly would have passed. His historical plays and tragedies were certainly partial to political leaders, and Biden has things in common with some of his most famous leading characters -- like Macbeth, he has political ambitions and a helpful spouse, and like King Lear, he has diminished abilities and problematic offspring -- but Shakespeare’s major characters were all deep and complex, prone to wander castle or moor emoting about an inner turmoil or bitter fate. Many Democrats, pointedly its ‘progressive’ left wing, enjoy thinking of themselves as ‘people-person’ trailblazers. This collective and persistent fiction chiefly works because their ‘novel’ efforts cancel out quietly or die in silence, as failures. The brilliant, new ‘initiative’ du jour becomes unworkable—either upon execution or, worse, is frankly untenable for America--eventually. The progressive voice is the loudest and most constant while the majority are barely heard. This progressive public bullying is a problem now owned, if not altogether liked, by the Democrat party; it is rooted in the stupidities of our failed education.

Does the Washington Post have any credibility at all? They censored this cartoon below after a few critics absurdly howled 'racism' -- all for depicting a Hamas spokesman accurately, and creating a thoughtful message that Hamas's howls about civilian attacks are disingenuous, given Hamas's war on Israeli civilians, including the 200-some hostages they hold. upposedly, they complained about the nose, expropriating from the complaints of caricatures directed against Jews done by anti-Semites. Yeah, sure. Did they want a little turned-up button nose on him? And is Ramirez supposed to depict a terrorist spokesman holding hostages flatteringly?

One X user pointed out the eye-catching physique of the men accompanying Soros, quipping, “They say that money can’t buy love, but it can buy whatever is going on here,

Despite a multi-year campaign by the White House and its allies to convince the public that the economy is booming, the vast majority of Americans say they’re worse off today than they were four years ago. And despite claims that partisanship is driving the public’s sour mood, negative views about the economy and President Joe Biden’s performance are almost universal. That’s according to the latest I&I/TIPP poll of likely voters, which finds that 58% say they aren’t better off than they were four years ago – before the COVID-19 pandemic – while only 34% say they are. Meanwhile, a mere 23% of

President Biden ordered strikes on three locations in Iraq after three U.S. service members were wounded, one critically, in an attack early Christmas morning credited to a militia group backed by Iran. In a statement Monday, National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said Biden directed the strikes against three facilities used by Kataib Hezbollah and affiliated groups, which claimed credit for the initial attack against U.S. personnel. The groups, the U.S. said, are all connected to Iran. The U.S. attack was carried out by a one-way attack drone, according to the statement, which said the three locations were “focused specifically on unmanned aerial drone activities.”

Upon leaving the White House on Saturday before spending his Christmas at Camp David, Biden was asked by a reporter about his "outlook" of the economy going into 2024. "All good. Take a look," Biden responded. "Start reporting it the right way," he added with a smirk. Biden has repeatedly been critical of the press, which he accuses of focusing more on negative news than positive things that come from his administration. But his approval among Americans continues reaching historic lows and his handling of the economy is a heavy factor in his unpopularity.

The Harvard University board is under pressure to resign over its handling of the anti-Semitism furor. In the wake of burgeoning calls for Gay to resign, faculty members are now also turning the spotlight on the other 11 members of the Harvard Corporation - the Ivy League's powerful governing body which continues to support her. One professor has even suggested an overhaul of the governance structure to give lawmakers the opportunity to appoint board members who represent the public interest, according to the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile, the former Harvard Medical School dean Jeffrey Flier said he told board members Tracy Palandjian and Paul Finnegan to do more to address

Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been slammed for her Christmas post that called Israel a violent occupying force and likened Jesus to the Palestinians. Posting on Instagram on Christmas Eve, AOC shared a photo of a child lying on a pile of rubble surrounded by wooden nativity scene icons. Accompanying the photo, the New Yorker wrote: 'In the story of Christmas, Christ was born in modern-day Palestine under the threat of a government engaged in a massacre of innocents.' She went on to compare Jesus being hunted by King Herod to the 'right-wing forces' currently 'violently occupying Bethlehem.'

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) is working on legislation ostensibly intended to prevent mass shootings like the one that happened in Maine on October 27. The tragic incident took place when Robert Card, a member of the Armed Forces, went on a spree in various locations, killing 18 people. He was later found dead after a manhunt. It was later revealed that Card had a history of mental illness and had even threatened violence against his fellow servicemembers at a military base. Yet, he was still able to legally purchase a firearm despite Maine’s yellow flag law, which allows for the temporary seizure of firearms from those deemed to be a risk

The city of Huntington Beach, California, one of the last conservative strongholds in the deep-blue state, has voted to cancel all of the separate month-long celebrations for various identity groups in favor of a celebration of the common history of the town. The Orange County Register reported last week: Huntington Beach leadership is ending the city’s current heritage and identity commemorations, such as Women’s History Month, and in their place will create celebrations focused more on the community’s history.
