Twenty-two House Republicans on Wednesday declined to vote to make Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) the next Speaker of the House.
The House held another vote on if House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), the Republican nominee for Speaker, should become the leader of the House. Not enough Republicans voted to make him Speaker after 15 days without a Republican leader of the House.
Jordan received 199 votes, House Democrat Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) received 212 votes, and 22 lawmakers voted for someone other than Jordan and Jeffries.
The 22 Republicans who declined to vote for Jordan include:

I don't blame Matt Gaetz for getting rid of a Speaker who did nothing. I blame the Rinos for not sticking together like the dhimsluts do all the time.

Why does GOP expect to be put back in power when they cannot even come together within their party?

That's right, blame Matt Gaetz, but at all costs escuse the lazy, deceitful, Biden funding, Dem appeasing McCarthy and his RINO cartel and let them stay in power. Because, ewww, people might criticize us and say hurtful things. And worse yet, disturb the flow of unlimited funds to Ukraine. Can't have that.

I guess we blame this now on Rinos, just like Jordan used to be, according to the sage Sundance, (at least before he changed his mind). People forget too soon how last year we expected 30 seats or more in the House, ending up with a small margin, thanks largely to Lee Zeldin and some unexpected help from NY. Matt Gaetz and friends forget that Trump candidates lost 12 otherwise gettable House seats, 4 Senate seats, and 4 Secretaries of State. Nothing has really changed since then, except our grasp on reality, not to mention our ongoing grasp on the House.

Sooner or later a Trump-hater had to emerge from the weeds and try to blame this on Trump.

Well, I will be one of those persons stating what McCarthy didn't do. Stop funding Ukraine. Just in case someone points out of me that there was no funding in the last bill - I am not certain about that "secret deal" McCarthy could have made. . .
There I said it.

To poster #9... there was no reason NOT to have a Red Wave in 2022...
...except fraud. You can not tell me people wouldn't have voted for Republicans any more than you can tell me Biden got 81 million votes.

# 10, if # 9 is a "Trump hater" that's news to me. And she is not blaming Trump for the current impasse, just reminding us that he bet on some clunkers during the midterms. The current fiasco is of the House GOP's own making, starting with Matt Gaetz. And you are right - all the fist-waving fulmination about McCarthy's purported shortcomings has gotten us nowhere and crated this needless embarrassment.

Might as well just give the job to Jeffries, to get it over with. This is ridiculous.

The 22 Republicans putting is closer and closer to Omnibus. Oh goodee, now it’s four Texans in with K Street against Main Street. (So said Bannon and I agree.)
The Repubs will do anything and don’t care how bloody rather than have a MAGA speaker who is a real conservative. Our party schism finally out in the open.

I'm not the biggest fan of Jordan, and being from South Louisiana, also not the biggest fan of Scalise ( the mistake by the lake), but just once, in my 80 plus years, I'd like to see Republicans stick together on something. Dems operate in lockstep, whether it's to kill babies, prosecute an innocent man, whatever. Republicans can't agree on anything, there's always one 'maverick!' Put Jordan or Scalise in as speaker, see what happens, and vote him out if you're dis-satisfied! Do something!!!

I don't agree that this is Gaetz's fault. McCathy made a lot of promises to get elected and he broke a number of them, apparently, once he was in power.
The problem is self serving RINOs who would rather ball up everything rather than let a conservative get into power. THEY are the real problem.

What I don’t get is why Gaetz is such a hero when he loved Paul Ryan as Speaker. This was personal against McCarthy. Gaetz is all about himself.

Gaetz is the MAN OF THE YEAR. A true American HERO.
Somebody actually voted for John Boehner. What a bunch of LOSERS. Raise your hand if you want John Boehner as well. TBH, I would not be surprised if some here do. Republicans like that are why were in the mess we're in. We need another 22 Matt Gaetz's.

This has evolved into a clash of high school cliques.
The Dems are laughing their butts off and putting together the campaign ads to take back the House next year.
I understand why Gaetz did what he did, but he did not have a plan on what to do next.
