Los Angeles braces for a transportation
‘crisis’ as part of Interstate 10
is closed indefinitely after massive blaze

Los Angeles commuters braced for traffic chaos Monday, after a massive weekend fire forced the indefinite closure of Interstate 10, one of the city’s major traffic arteries. Mayor Karen Bass described the situation as a “crisis” for a city already notorious for its traffic woes. She urged travelers to prepare for delays and plan alternative routes while the interstate remains shut down in both directions near Alameda Street in the city’s downtown area. Ahead of the Monday morning commute, a citywide alert was sent to residents’ cell phones warning the freeway “will be closed indefinitely” and to “expect significant traffic.”

The homeless under the overpass were both stealing electricity and using propane in unsafe ways. What could go wrong? Sad to realize Gavin could get homeless camps all cleaned up in one day IF he had the will. But he only has the will to make a Potemkin village in SF, not fix things for us taxpayers.

Sounds like a meth lab went up in smoke. Apparently, it is OK to store highly flammable materials underneath the highway.

The place that caught fire was two large storage yards stacked with wooden pallets. All good comments. The city lets the homeless do as they please. They don't enforce the laws that are on the books. Abuse the people who live in the surrounding area (and throughout Los Angeles for that matter).

Government bureaucrats neglecting to do their jobs are responsible for this fiasco. Federal, state, and local workers all allowed the accumulation of flammable materials beneath the structure. They allowed the homeless to live there. They allowed open fires. They allowed the property owner and people leasing the property to violate the lease and store too much stuff under the highway. All of these people will say "we could have never forseen a fire or disaster like this happening". Of course the couldn't! They are useless, unimaginative government bureaucrats.

Just wondering..... With all the laws and regulations in Kali, didn't they have some regulations on how much flammable material could be stored under the elevated highway? Regarding the rebuild time..... there was a somewhat similar (but smaller) fire under an elevated highway near me in Biloxi, MS. The MS highway guys got the elevated road back in service much faster than anyone expected. Also, I recall a collapsed section of road in Kali some years ago due to an earthquake, and the Kali highway guys and contractors got that back in service pretty quickly, considering the size of the job.

If you were thinking that those large pro-Palestine protests popping up everywhere seem awfully organized, you’re not wrong. Today the Free Press points out that at least four rallies, including one in New York which was later denounced as too extreme by AOC, were co-organized by a group called The People’s Forum. Based in Midtown Manhattan, The People’s Forum calls itself a “movement incubator for working class and marginalized communities to build unity across historic lines of division at home and abroad.” But a review of public disclosure forms show that multimillionaire [Neville Roy] Singham and his wife [Jodie] Evans have donated over $20.4 million to The People’s Forum

On Sunday, I reported on the massive pro-Israel demonstrations that broke out across France over the weekend, and I opined that I hoped such action would make its way here and that Americans would stand against hate. On Tuesday, that’s exactly what happened in Washington D.C., as a crowd estimated at almost 300,000 marched on the National Mall to decry antisemitism and express support for the Jewish people. It was much different than a pro-Hamas rally, as New York Sun publisher Dovid Efune noted: The differences? Efune lists seven: 1. Nobody was assaulted. 2. There were many American flags. 3. The Israel Defense Forces says it is carrying out a "precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area" of Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. The ground operation, based on intelligence and "operation necessity," came after the Israeli military had repeatedly warned Hamas against using the hospital as a base for its operations, the IDF said in a statement issued Wednesday morning local time. "Yesterday, the IDF conveyed to the relevant authorities in Gaza once again that all military activities within the hospital must cease within 12 hours. Unfortunately, it did not," the Israeli military said, adding that Hamas's alleged use of the hospital violates international law.

Only two Democrats, Representatives Jake Auchincloss (Mass.) and Mike Quigley (Ill.), and a substantial 93 Republicans dissented from their political parties. The bill now heads to the Senate, where it is also expected to pass. But the effort they are putting in to try to justify it takes some gall and was unintentionally funny. They essentially tried to attack Israel while wrapping themselves in "Jewishness" and tried to use that to help their position. They were at an event by the "Rabbis for Ceasefire." Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) attacked Israel calling them "extremist" and accusing them of having committed "war crimes."

She appeared to be fed up with the robbers that snuck up on her while she delivered other packages in an apartment complex that is believed to be in Atlanta, Georgia.
