The far-left assault on the quality of intellectual and creative work is frequently neatly and explicitly acknowledged in the language of the diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) dogma that serves as the movement’s philosophy.)smip)
Sometimes the leftist assault on quality brazenly attacks standards by just inserting obviously inferior work in company with works of much higher quality.
(snip). On a visit to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, I was surprised to encounter the kitschy mediocrity in the image below. It is the work of the same American painter, Kehinde Wiley, who gave us that bizarre, amateurish rendering of President Barack Obama

The left, lowering the standard of just about everything.

Affirmative action "artists". Just as useless as the rest of the affirmative action crew.

It has to be at least thirty plus years ago that Roy Leonard, who had a show on WGN radio was warning about this trend. He would review music, books, movies and plays that were new or were touring Chicago. He was my guy who kept me up on the new trends of the time. With three little kids he kept me current.
He began to see a disturbing trend when at a new play there were standing ovation's for everyone. He'd say why are we celebrating mediocrity? As time went on the over the top praise continued, until we are where we are today. Instead of those who have achieved getting the well deserved praise for a great performance in their field, out of "fairness (equity) the mediocre are lifted to a place they do not belong. It's just another example of today's utter insanity.

The dumbing down and coarsening of Western Civilization. The pornograhic pics by Robert Mapplethorp were just the beginning. The wealthy morons who buy that stuff are the problem. If people just laughed at it and ignored it, you would really see some starving artists. In a sane world, Hunter’s amateurish krep wouldn’t even see the light of day but rich leftists want to display his “works” and virtue signal that they are down with the current narrative. Absolutely despicable.

This reminds me of how the orchestra in Baltimore inserts "rap music" into its classical pieces. I read about this a couple years ago and I don't know if they're still doing it.

Will they be exhibiting any of Hunter Biden's art work?

Ugly as it is, it can never compare to the hideous example of “art” I was exposed to at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I was there to view an exhibition of impressionist artists (it was magnificent, BTW) and afterward I wandered through the rest of the museum. I walked into one room and was confronted by an off-kilter , rotting screen door. The placard informed me that the “piece” was partially funded by an Endowment of the Arts grant. I wanted to scream.

When one considers the years of application to technique, and the depth of understanding demanded for some of these artists to show, it’s reprehensible for mere race and politics the museum would so capitulate. Just pitiable and shallow and finally insulting to real patrons. Need one add, racist.

My wife and I spent a day in that museum, a little over 8 years ago, long before it became woke. Neither of us were educated in art to appreciate the technique, but we did enjoy the works of art. I don't plan to go back. There's enough garbage masquerading as art in the states.

In his book "How Should We Then Live?", Francis Schaeffer wrote that as a culture declines so does the quality of its art and music. Schaeffer noted, for example, how even the quality of coins in the Roman Empire diminished as it's culture began to crumble.

It is said that the quality of art is in the eye of the beholder. Prepare to view garbage. This clown is to art as Maya Angelou is to poetry. It should be restricted to the AA Hut on the Smithsonian grounds.
