House Republicans voted to drop Jim Jordan as their speaker nominee in a secret-ballot vote on Friday afternoon, shortly after the House Judiciary chairman failed to secure the gavel in a floor vote for the third time this week.
Twenty-five House Republicans joined a united Democratic caucus in opposing Jordan’s third speaker bid on Friday, setting up the secret-ballot vote to strip him of the nomination. The GOP opposition to Jordan’s bid had steadily grown with each successive ballot: 2o members of the caucus voted against him on the first ballot and 22 voted against him the second time around.

I AM DONE WITH THESE PUTZES!!! Hakeem will be the next speaker. McCarthy was right next to worthless. Same old, tired go along to get along song and dance. Jordan at least has the guts to break the mold, but NO! The script says the conservatives have to lose so the turncoats rise up and strike.
My nation is being betrayed YET AGAIN by the "Republican" uniparty traitor rats. May they roast in hell.

Idiots. Just put Jefferies up for a vote and get it over with. Changing registration on Monday. You blew up the House with no plan in the works and you suck. OMG the dems must be loving this stupid clown show. At least FJB has dementia to fall back on.

I saw Pelosi laughing and gloating immediately after it was obvious Jordan did not have the votes. The uniparty plans to retain control of the House, Democrats and Rino's.

Looks like the Republicans are no better than the Dems, will forget the people who voted for them and what they want in order to satisy their personal agenda. Disgusting.

If not Jim Jordan, who? Who is the magic Republic who will meet the impossible purity test that these hold out "Republicans" want? They might as well be voting for a Democrat as speaker. By expecting the impossible Unicorn Republican to magically materialize, they are throwing all of their supposed conservative principles to the wind because they cannot get 100% of what they want. Better to get some of what you want than none of what you would like when a Democrat becomes the Speaker because of the holdouts idiotic temper tantrums.

Hakeem Jeffries said, Jordan is a “clear and present danger” to democracy. Far left hack Jeffries can’t be allowed to get away with that. What GOP member is going to slam Jeffries for this incendiary lie? Rhetorical question.

Before Matt Gaetz opened his big mouth and lassoed seven back benchers with no character the House had a speaker. McCarthy wasn’t perfect but was way better than what we have now and are likely to get now that 25 “moderate” Republicans are the deciding vote for the next speaker.
Gaetz should be tarred and feathered and run out on a rail.

#13 - having McCarthy as Speaker was the same as having Jeffries would be. All he was doing was perpetuating the Dem agenda.
The longer Congress has no Speaker, the longer they can’t spend our money or do more harmful things to us.

Not opposition, but the opposite party. As in opposite of common sense, opposite of what Republican voters want and the opposite of defeating the leftist ideology of Biden and the Dems. At a time when Republicans should be opposing the massive spending and crushing anti-consumer, anti-economic growth policies of Biden, they are opposing themselves for no obvious principles or purpose. Having rejected McCarthy, Scalise and now Jordan, the Repubs appear lost in what they actually want from a Speaker, assuming that they knew what they wanted in the first place.
We are being invaded, we are at risk of terror attacks, we have threats of nuclear war over a country that is not part of NATO, we have persistent inflation and a federal interest obligation greater than our Defense Budget, yet there isn’t a GOP House member who can make a strong case against any of this. Sadly, we’ve achieved the old joke of a two party system, one on Fridays and another on Saturdays.

No #13, McCarthy lied to get the speaker's chair and Gaetz called him on it. Most of these politicians are just worthless whoring scum these days. Bought and paid for.

I haven't heard one cogent, rational, reasonable argument from those who oppose Jordan as to why he shouldn't be Speaker. They are voting against him simply to spite Gaetz. Also, no one points out that the Democrats voted with Gaetz to oust McCarthy, but now none of them will assist in voting for Jordan to end this dog and pony show.

Same thing they did to Trump. The criminal powers didnt like him so they spent four years stabbing him in the back and undermining him at every turn. And they are still doing it. I have felt no allegiance to the republican party since they foisted Romney on us, and its clear the fix is still in.
They are no better than the democrats, and they arent as good at it.

Where do these traitors get their power? Clearly, the American people want change. They could not make it any clearer. However, these fools ignore and mock us. The Republic cannot co-exist with this self proclaim aristocracy. The two are incompatible. It truly is the rich men from Richmond that defines the present day soul of the Republican Party.

Do we all get it now:
The republican party and the republican congressman in the House and Senate are not on our side but are in fact in lockstep with the communist death democrats and are our enemies.
The republicans will not stop the spending madness and at some point come out in favor of taxing us into extreme poverty.
The republicans in Congress will not either protect or restore our Constitutional freedoms.
The republicans in Congress will not fight to restore our Justice System
The republicans in Congress will never reform the current totalitarian federal government
The republicans in Congress will do nothing to restore free and fair elections.
The republicans in Congress and especially the republican partyhold us, the citizens who voted them into office, in utter contempt and hate us.
The republicans in Congress and the republican party are in fact members of the communist death democrat party.
The republicans in Congress are controlled by the Deep State lobbyists who tell them what to do.
The republicans in Congress hate Matt Gaetz because he is actually trying to change the whole rotten system which threatens their bank accounts. Rest assured he will be eliminated. He is too dangerous.
The republican party needs to be abandoned by all patriotic conservatives. It must be replaced.
There is no real solution at this point and this country will split up at some point into the communist states versus the Constitutional Republic States.
Why vote republican?

I have just about had it with the negative comments about Gaetz. Kevin McCarthy folded every time Joe Biden wanted big money. Last night he requested even more. Who on earth thinks we can afford all of this? All the while watching the national debt grow. #13 must be a very wealthy person to afford what Kevin McCarthy hands to Joe Biden. . .

I think # 13 is right. Gaetz opened up this can of worms for no sensible reason and with no backup plan. What did he - and some folks on this board - expect McC to do, play George Wallace at the schoolhouse door over some arcane budget issue with the House voting numbers against him and federal spending already hopelessly out of control?
And if a handful of Reps have blocked Jordan in order to spite Gaetz, the latter should have done his homework beforehand and anticipated how badly things could go awry.
Maybe they will coalesce around Byron Donalds and save themselves from this mess.
