House GOP members are preparing a motion to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., amid his renewed threat to pursue a motion to vacate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The House Republican members will seek to expel Gaetz if the ethics committee report comes back with findings of guilt, Fox News has learned. One member told Fox News the report is mostly written but does not know what it contains. Yet following threats to vacate McCarthy, the member said of Gaetz, "No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals."

Jason Smith, Chairman House Ways and Means, says Gaetz would need 200 Democrats to oust McCarthy because the Republicans won't do it. Too much current Republican advantage would be lost at a very bad time. Gaetz would effectively be working with and facilitating them.

So there is a small and vocal group that believes “business as usual” in the house is not in the people’s best interest. And because they speak up and reject it they most be punished. Yep, that makes a lot of sense to me.

"A smart guy without morals." To the Uniparty, "morals" mean toeing the line and doing what's right for the system that keeps its members getting richer and richer as they loot the country.

Oh for G_d’s sake! Just stop it already.
You have to hand it to congressional republicans, because there isn’t anything they can’t screw up.

As I have always said; the Democrats circle the wagons, the Republicans circle the firing squad!
The Republicans just don’t have it in them to win or represent their conservative base!

Please, House of Representatives, turn your attention to the people's business. The price of butter this morning was the highest I have seen during the Biden regime. Inflation, the open border, crime, wokeness, aggressive Red China.... GET TO WORK.

this bunch of spineless jack-asses will want Matt Gaetz expelled but won't take any action against someone who justly deserves punishment for the criminal act of ruthless indifference ie: Jamaal Bowman
and we were all wondering what would be the issue or issues that would derail the repubs prior to the 2024 election, I think we just go it, they can't even keep their cadence counting right

Gaetz wasn’t elected by Congress. He was elected by the Florida voters. This petty, backbiting crap in the midst of what this country is going through is infuriating. They all need to stay off cable news for a while and do their jobs.

I must say that I cringe every time I hear Kevin McCarthy speak or answer some reporter's (usually) stupid question because unlike Nancy Pelosi who always (or so it seemed) would turn the question around to using her answer to attack Republicans - no matter what the question. Kevin chugs along and tries to answer the questions even if it means attacking his fellow Republicans.

Contrary to original poster's comments (above), there are absolutely no comparisons between Matt Gaetz and Gavin Newsom; Gaetz loves his country, and Newsom loves himself, and I cannot understand why the Republicans -not RINOS -do not explain (over and over until people understand what a "shutdown" is all about) that essential services always get their payments, i.e., everyone gets their social security check, medicare and medicaid are paid and on and on. Needless-to-say, I do not know all the sevices that are paid during a government shutdown, because someone makes the decision that it is better to keep the people numb and dumb. That's why shutdowns do not happen - because people do not even know what a shutdown of government means. Those in need get paid, and the well-compensated government employees who have a few days or more off, get reimbursed with back pay when they return to work. Meanwhile, those government employees had some time off.

It's Congress. Trump supporters need not apply. As a matter of fact, ban Trump supporters from Washington entirely. That has been Washington policy since 1/6.

It is maddening to sit and watch all of this. The Dems get hard-as-nails strategic when they want to advance their agenda. This time around, our side looks like an inept bunch of middle schoolers fighting over Class President. We have House majority! But somehow we let the Dems take the wheel and set their agenda for this 45-day extension.
Maddening. If McCarthy and Gaetz's group cannot respect one another enough to negotiate in good faith and set the agenda, then one of them needs to go and I say McCarthy needs to go. Otherwise this will happen again and we will watch the Democrats grab the House wheel from us again in 45 days, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.
Time for a new GOP Speaker of the House.

I have no doubt many posters here on Lucianne will be thrilled to get rid of Gaetz. Lucianne has become a Republican site, not a Conservative site.

You been here a while too, right? There has always been a healthy tension in here between mainstream conservative and more right wing conservative. Fortunately it stays more civil in here compared to less-moderates forums out there.
I started lurking in '99 and joined a year later if i remember correctly and it was like that then. Then 2000 happened (the Bush vs Gore election drama) and we unified fast around Bush/Cheney and then we unified even stronger around and after 9/11. but the tension came back strong during the 2008 primary when some of us warned about McCain as nominee when he was in the lead, and others said we all have to rally around him and support him. Both sides had a point. We will probably be having that same argument in 2028.

Gaetz is right. McCarthy has lied to the Freedom Caucus and the rest of the Republicans so Matt Gaetz stands up to him and calls him out for all his lies and this is what he gets? Matt is 100% Make America Great Again and wants a balanced budget not a 45 day CR, plus all the other promises that McCarthy has gone back on.
If this is what the Rinos in the Party want, then I say let them reap what they have sown. destruction.

We are so proud of our Congressman Matt Gaetz. He stands against the Venezuela-ing of America, for the rights of the people, and does it with courage, competence, and skill. What a man! (and with a lovely wife who told me she also is proud of Matt) How we wish more of our congresscritters had the courage of our military defenders!

#1 Gaetz denies offering the dems any subpoena power.
#2 McCarthy has a lot of nerve complaining that Gaetz would work with the democrats to
get something done.
Who did he literally just make a secret deal with, to pass the CR??
#3 and because of that deal, the dems are not going to oust him.
So disappointed in Mark Levin these days.

Yep, the GOP will wet their drawers over Kevin McCarthy but not give a flip about a cocaine stash in the WH or a red doper diaper baby being housed there for his/her own convenience.

Gaetz and his little band of “all or nothing” idiots is a thorn in the side of all rational Republicans. When their vote no guarantees that a Republican bill will not pass they will always get nothing! And, proudly declaring that you want to shut down the government is how you turn what should have been a Republican tidal wave into a ripple.
If not for these idiots, the Republicans would have gotten something, but they made sure that all the Republicans got nothing. They insure that the Democrats get what they want.

Legislatures that vote in lockstep in other countries are always controlled by a despot. The members are mere window dressing. Here we have a party that votes in lockstep, even on the Supreme Court. The unknown factor is always whether enough Republican cats can be cajoled to support their House or Senate leader. Watching the open fighting is disconcerting, but a reminder of the design of the founding fathers, who the loved debate and checks and balances of an open government.

Trump supported McCarthy in his Speaker's race last January.
He usually voices his opinion about nearly everything.
But I haven't heard whether or not he is in support of what Gaetz is up to.

* Jacqui Heinrich, Chad Pergram. These are two separate issues and should not be conflated, as if actions against Gaetz were merely retaliation for his antagonism toward McCarthy. At best, Gaetz is just a Republican Gavin Newsom, and at worst — well, I guess we’ll see.
