American golfer Gary Woodland has undergone surgery to remove a tumor on his brain, an update posted to his social media accounts said. The former US Open champion underwent a “long” operation on Monday that removed the majority of the lesion, a diagnosis he revealed in a post on August 30. Discovered a few months prior, the Kansas-born 39-year-old said he had attempted to treat the symptoms with medication before the decision for surgery was taken.

Comments:

This is depressing news. Gary Woodland is a blue chip guy.

I walked 18 holes during a Pro-Am with Gary. A quiet reserved person but open to questions and very good to the amateurs hwe was playing with and the fans. A very class gentleman and I am sad to hear of his illness. I wish him a complete recover and return to a full life. Oh, Gary may be the only person to have played against Kansa and Lettered for Kansas (basketball his Fr. year he played against Kansas).

I'm hoping and praying for a complete recovery. Gary is a great person and player. He and his wife endured the death of a child a few years ago, which was difficult to overcome. But he had been doing well in recent years.

Hunter education, archery and shooting-related school programs amount to “training in the use of a dangerous weapon,” so money for them should be cut, say federal officials. That worries Brad Smith, who coaches the Cheyenne East High School clay target shooting team. Although his team doesn’t get any money from the school district, it is promoted through the school, and losing that support would hurt, he told Cowboy State Daily.

As much as it’s reported that the world is going through a transition away from fossil fuels to wind and solar energy, the data doesn’t support it. The International Energy Agency released its 2023 Coal Market Update on Thursday, which shows that global coal consumption in 2022 rose by 3.3% to a record 8.3 billion tons. While the use of coal in European countries and the United States has declined, those reductions are offset by increases in Asian countries, primarily India and China.

In a time when Americans in Israel are relying on their government for support and protection, the U.S. State Department’s Consular Affairs Crisis Management System (CACMS) has left many American citizens hanging in the wind, demanding them to sign promissory notes as a precondition for any assistance in evacuating from the crisis-hit region. The so-called “assisted departure options” were outlined in an email sent to American citizens stranded in the Middle Eastern nation, stating that the U.S. government would offer loans for transportation. The Biden regime’s assistance to Americans wishing to depart Israel will come at a financial cost.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York is naming Christian fundamentalism as a key driver of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, pointing to recent US actions in the region. Speaking on local New York radio station Hot 97/WQHT on Thursday morning, the progressive Democratic congresswoman argued that the conflict was not simply the result of Islamic fundamentalism and Israeli extremism. "It's not just Islamic, it's not just Jewish, it is also Christian," said Ocasio-Cortez. "In the United States of America, Christian fundamentalism and nationalism — which has also been extremely anti-Semitic — has also aligned itself with some of the most right-wing and authoritarian and inflammatory powers in the region."

JERUSALEM — Israel’s military on Friday directed the evacuation of northern Gaza, a region that is home to 1.1 million people — about half of the territory’s population — within 24 hours, a U.N. spokesman said. This could signal an impending ground offensive, though the Israeli military has not yet confirmed such an appeal. On Thursday it said that while it was preparing, a decision has not yet been made. The order, delivered to the U.N., comes as Israel presses an offensive against Hamas militants. U.N. spokesman Stéphane Dujarric called the order “impossible” without “devastating humanitarian consequences.”

The Biden administration is preventing Iran from accessing the $6 billion the U.S. recently transferred after Hamas, an Iranian-backed terrorist group, launched a brutal attack against Israel, The Washington Post reported Thursday. The Biden administration originally cut a deal with Iran to transfer $6 billion in previously frozen assets in exchange for five American prisoners. The administration is now working with fund manager Qatar to hold up the $6 billion after Iran’s ally Hamas launched a wave of attacks against Israel on Saturday, killing over 1,200 Israelis and at least 25 Americans and kidnapping hundreds more.
