President Joe Biden is trumpeting Medicare’s new powers to negotiate directly with drugmakers on the cost of prescription medications — but a poll shows that any immediate political boost that Biden gets for enacting the overwhelmingly popular policy may be limited. Three-quarters of Americans, or 76%, favor allowing the federal health care program for the elderly to negotiate prices for certain prescription drugs. That includes strong majorities of Democrats (86%) and Republicans (66%), according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. About one in five Americans are neutral on the issue, while 6% outright oppose it.

Gov't meddling in general, and Biden in particular - have a certain tainted Midas Touch when it comes to anything they get close to. There's a track record, and we have memory.

Everyday I trust the government less and less. If they present it as "good for US citizens" then there must be a catch and eventually they will f it up. Some how it will circle back and end up being hooked on to obamacare and socialized medicine for all of us lucky fools. And no doubt kickbacks. Besides I need food and energy all day every day and it is getting out of reach for a lot of us. Retired or not.

If memory serves, President Trump was doing just that when he was in office. Now, almost three years later, Joe has a revelation, just in time for re-election.

In the West, when we hear news that an area in Ukraine has been liberated, we likely feel a short sense of relief: but we don’t grasp the full extent of what this means. In reality, the experience of being occupied by the Russian invaders is utterly nightmarish. It was for Galyna Matyoshko. It involved the murder of one son and the permanent injury of her other son. Her older son has had 18 surgeries and will never completely recover. For Matyoshko, this nightmare will likely follow her for the rest of her life.

A recent report published by America First Legal (AFL) details how the FBI weaponized the federal background investigation process to deny Republican presidents — specifically Donald Trump — the ability to make political appointments in an “institution-wide” violation of the Privacy Act, the Paperwork Reduction Act, and other federal statutes. Institutional disregard for the FBI Manual of Investigative Operations and Guidelines (MIOG) further contributed to this.

From the moment that billionaire Oprah Winfrey and multi-millionaire ‘The Rock’ started asking the public for donations to fire victims in Maui, the public started pushing back. People all over the country are hurting financially and many critics felt that if Oprah really wanted to help, she should have just done it herself. People also didn’t trust her claim that she and The Rock were kicking it off with a ten million dollar donation. She went on CBS Mornings on Friday and showed that she has no idea why people reacted in this way.

There is much to be learned about power and the press from the fact that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson once evaded a reporter’s tough questions by hiding in an industrial fridge. The reporter, Jonathan Swain of Good Morning Britain, ambushed Johnson at Modern Milkman dairy, where he was stopping for a folksy photo shoot in December 2019. For months, Johnson, a former journalist himself, had refused to be interviewed on prime-time breakfast television. If Johnson wouldn’t go to Good Morning Britain, then Good Morning Britain would go to him. Swain, broadcasting live to a national audience,

The G20 Summit held in New Delhi on Sept. 9 and 10 was, from the perspective and needs of the West, a lot of sound and light signifying not very much. Some Western observers might call it a super-sized nothing burger for them. But one thing is clear: The G20 is a talking forum without any executive powers, unable to prioritize anything — and it has tilted toward the Global South, which comprises developing countries. The G20 Leaders’ Declaration was festooned with a mindboggling array of commitments in an assemblage of fields such as climate, public health, sustainable and inclusive growth, technological transformation, taxation, digital ecosystems, food and energy security,

John Hawkins’ Culturcidal blog at Substack is often a great place to see interesting discussion of important topics, especially on Democrats, and Hawkins’ latest entry is no exception. In a post Monday, Hawkins noted that tons of statistics out there indicate a level of gloom in America that perhaps hasn’t truly existed until now. But something Hawkins pointed out was particularly striking. He caught part of a podcast in which lefty pundit Tim Ferriss was interviewing marketing guru Seth Godin, and Ferriss said this:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michael White had only recently arrived in a grim Iranian jail when a curious fellow prisoner, an English-speaking Iranian, approached him in the courtyard for a conversation. The American did not reveal much at first, but it was the beginning of an unlikely friendship between White, a Navy veteran imprisoned on spying charges he says were unfounded, and Mahdi Vatankhah, a young Iranian political activist whose positions on social issues had drawn his government’s ire. As the men connected behind bars over a shared interest in politics and human rights, they developed a bond that proved vital for both.

Allies of the president reportedly told the New York Times that Joe Biden's "inability to say no" to his son, Hunter Biden, with regard to his business dealings has caused "avoidable political distractions." The report says that his allies "have privately criticized Mr. Biden’s apparent inability to say no when Hunter sought to pull him into his business dealings." "Some allies of the president say his loyalty to his son — inviting him to state dinners, flying with him aboard Marine One and standing on the White House balcony with him — has resulted in wholly avoidable political distractions," the report continued.

If it proves to be the case that China has recruited a Briton, who held a coveted job as a researcher in Westminster, as an agent, it represents a significant escalation in Beijing’s intelligence targeting of the UK. Chinese spying efforts were once focused on the hacking and stealing of intellectual property. More recently there have been signs of a growth in human intelligence efforts, using undercover Chinese nationals in an effort to obtain information. In 2020, three alleged Chinese agents were quietly expelled by the UK.

A distressing new crime trend known as 'flash rob mobs' is on the rise and likely to cost California a whopping $19billion a year, guidance from the LAPD warns. The incidents have become increasingly frequent in soft-on-crime California, where detectives in the state's largest police force are now assembling designated teams to tackle the problem. The groups have been pillaging stores including Nordstrom and Versace. In response to the recent spate, officials at the Los Angeles Police Department have formed a taskforce, named the the Organized Retail Crime Taskforce (ORCT).

Under the new bill, most of California's 500,000 fast food workers will be paid at least $20 per hour next year. And a separate bill will increase health care workers'

Boebert apologized for her behavior and expressed regret for not telling the truth about whether she had vaped during the production, which later led to her removal from the crowd by theater staff. The apology comes just days after it was reported the Colorado Republican had been removed from the theater for “vaping, singing, [and] causing a disturbance” to other patrons, according to a city incident report. “The past few days have been

Which Biden achievement is your favorite?” Marsen asked tongue-in-cheek.

Joe Biden's relationship with his attorney general, Merrick Garland, is so icy it is 'in the deep freeze', according to a report on Saturday. Biden and his aides are infuriated by Garland's decision to appoint special counsels to investigate both Biden's handling of classified documents, and his son Hunter's business affairs. They told The Wall Street Journal that Garland was seen as going too far in his effort to appear independent from Biden, who appointed him. But Garland's aides told the paper that the widely-respected, low-key official was simply trying to stop any suspicion that Biden was influencing his decisions.
