A new video documenting the growing number of high-profile stores in Beverly Hills that have closed recently, places renewed emphasis on the crisis facing the retail sector in most major cities. The video, posted by an account called cody90210, shows some 11 popular Beverly Hills retail stops now entirely shuttered, including the iconic former Barneys location, Brooks Brothers, All Saints, and the high-end women's fashion boutique Escada. Both Escada and Barneys filed for bankruptcy in recent years. The closed shops, which also include convenience retailers like Rite Aid and Chipotle, and even popular workout class option SoulCycle, have shuttered their doors on Wilshire Boulevard, leaving the area bereft of its former appeal.

Most businesses now use monitoring software to track workers' activity while on the clock, a new study has shown - with several such as JPMorgan tracking and penalizing employees even while in the office.
In a survey of some 1,000 business leaders across the country, ResumeBuilder.com found 96 percent of respondents working at organizations with either a remote or hybrid workforce said their firms used some form of employee-monitoring software.
Only 10 percent of those companies were doing so before the pandemic, the survey found - as firms like Google, Amazon, and Meta continue to commit to crackdowns for not spending sufficient time in their offices.

Austin, Texas— Texas must move a large floating barrier that Gov. Greg Abbott placed on the river between the U.S. and Mexico this summer as part of the Republican’s escalating attempts to stop migrants from crossing America’s southern border, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.
U.S. District Judge David Ezra stopped short of ordering Texas to dismantle the wrecking-ball sized buoys on the Rio Grande but called them a threat to safety and relationships between the neighboring countries.
