After more than 24 hours of being slaughtered on social media for giving the FBI an access code to one of its safes, Liberty Safe announced changes to its policies regarding storage of access codes and cooperation with law enforcement. The manufacturer admitted Tuesday that it had provided an access code to the FBI on August 30, 2023 for a gun safe after "receiving proof of [a] valid warrant." While Liberty Safe did not provide the name of the owner or the location of the safe, it's generally believed that it was the safe of Nathan Hughes, an Arkansas man who attended protests at the U.S. Capitol

Maybe they can sell them at Dick's Sporting Goods. Good Americans dont go there either.
You sell out to the enemy, you'll never get my business again. I dont care if they made an opt out or not.

Liberty did not have to comply with the warrant. Liberty premises were not the subject of the search, a home under a separate roof owned by a private citizen was. The manufacturer of the safe no longer in it's possession had no obligation to cede control of the opening mechanism to any law enforcement. Liberty will now be liable for an inevitable lawsuit. If Liberty had told the FBI "no," the matter would have ended with the safe being torched or its opening forced by a supoena. The executives at Liberty Safe had no balls and this will be a blot on their business. Competitors will point at this episode and gain new customers. I hope Liberty goes the way of Bud Light.

In a small defense of Liberty Unsafe, when you do business in a police state, you tend to do what the police want. What’s missing in these stories are the charges against Nathan Hughes and explanations as to why he was treated as a violent criminal (6 heavily armed agents) and why the FBI needed to open his safe?
More importantly, since the DoJ is seeking to arrest an additional 1200 people for participating in the Jan 6th event, will FBI SWAT teams be seizing suspects on the street or their place of business as well as ransacking their homes? What are the constraints, if any, on the DoJ and FBI’s efforts to humiliate and imprison Trump supporters?

Since the FBI is using facial recognition technology to identify Jan 6 participants, will the FBI be videotaping Trump rallies in hopes of finding matches? If yes, we are in a police state.

The article mentions that the lawyer is going to put on a "vigoruous defense: of his client.
That's great.
Except that the trial will be held in DC. If the guy wants a fair trial, he'll need a change of venue to a jurisdiction that treats defendants fairly. You know, like North Korea, China, Iran, Cuba or Venezula.

This is damage control that's too late. Stick a fork in them. No gun owner will ever trust that brand again.

Liberty Safe destroyed their reputation. Now gun owners are aware that the company was purchased by an investment firm that supports prominent democrats such as Raphael Warnock, John Fetterman and Mark Kelly. As Charlie Kirk said, “boycott Liberty Safe.”

People on Twitter/X say the company culture changed when it was bought out by Monomoy Capital Partners LP. Valid assumption.

did any owner know there was a secret back door code? Do all electronic safes have one? I bet they do. That is why I have a safe with just a combo lock. Slower, but without the combo, get out the torch and crow bars

The existence of a "master code" to open their safes makes them a no starter for me.

Liberty Safe said they "are devoted to protecting 2nd amendment rights" ---- but they have no regard for a person's 4th amendment rights, and did not even mention it. Both 2nd and 4th amendment issues should be decided by a court, not Liberty Safe, or the FBI. Bottom line, I would not buy a Liberty safe for any reason. The country is a police state, ignoring all individual rights, including voting integrity.

Welcome to the world of woke. Shake hands with Target and Bud Lite. There's an empty old K-Mart building you can flop in until all the lawsuits are settled. You'll have to have the water and electric turned back on.

Protext peacefully against the DC police state, and they'll hunt you down.
Burn an entire city down....and they apologize for the inconvenience of a 15 minute arrest, and give you $150K of taxpayers money.
