The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) released an urgent consumer notification that Citgo fuel services from the Port of Tampa accidentally mixed Diesel Fuel into gasoline tanker trucks that offloaded product at gas pumps in Tampa, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and other areas. [FDACS Notice HERE]
Customers who purchased Citgo gas at the affected areas after August 26th are at risk. Those fuel stations pumped diesel instead of unleaded gasoline. (Image - List)

Whether it was accidental remains speculative at this point.

FYI....diesel is green. Did no one notice? Also, diesel and gasoline have very different odors. You cannot mistake one for the other unless you are seeing and smelling impaired. So, to me this LOOKS and SMELLS fishy.

Uh huh. That's it. It was accidental. And just happened to happen right before a hurricane. How convenient. Right, lefties?

An affirmative action idiot or someone who is against cars that use normal engines? Or just another idiot?

Accidental - yeah right. It's open season on Americans right now and from our own fellow citizens.

And what about all those poor souls who got the bad gas? Diesel will wreak big time damage to a gas engine...stops running, clogs everything up, drain the tank, tow costs...is Citgo going to reimburse all these drivers? I see lots of legal suits coming..all the lawyers are probably happy...

ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!! Because there are no incompetent people in Florida.
And as conspiracies go why only do a third rate smaller company? Why not do all the major ones at the same time and get everyone stuck no matter what gas they use? Our conspirators seem incompetent, too.

Accidently they say... I have my doubts.
Criminally negligent at the least. CITGO in for some big civil fines, at least.

Here is yet another example of the incompetence that riddles this nation, and it’s due to DEI, CRT, and an education system that has utterly failed Americans. Not only that but affirmative action has taken its horrendous toll on the overall competence level in almost every single facet of this country’s once-proud legacy. Incompetence has hit everything; medicine, engineering, education, technology,….everything. It’s pathetic. Thanks, Democrats.

I don’t believe in accidents of this level of impact..
Who owns Citgo? What will their response be to help?

I'm pretty sure the hose connections are markedly different, so this isn't easy to mistake. If you ever notice the refueling trucks at your local gas station, they have different hoses to fill the different underground storage tanks and no mix-ups occur that way. I'd be surprised if that logic wasn't carried forward on up the chain.

Settle down, Francis. No doubt there was great haste and commotion at the port of Tampa, what with a hurricane bearing down on them. They needed to get vulnerable ships unloaded and out of harm’s way as quickly as possible. I can easily imagine that in that rush, somebody made a stupid mistake. As a rule, it’s foolish to attribute to malice what can easily be explained by incompetence.

Rumblebog is correct about the gas station hookup differences, but apparently the misfueling happened at the Port.

Whoa! It was shipped from the port as regular gas would have been loaded into pumps as regular gasl and tanks filled with what was believed to be regular.
All the stuff about different nozzles and color of diesel are irrelevant. Does anyone see ihe color of gasoline being pumped into their car?

An accident seems farfetched...since the difference is clearly visible to anyone in the business...there's something not right about this...now is the time to check motivation of the suppliers....

It would be hard for the end user to notice because they don't actually get to visually see the fuel when pumping it into their car. More likely the guy in the delivery truck would notice but even he doesn't see it in a clear container. He could smell it though.
It happened to me one time when my sister screwed up and put diesel in my gas car. She was stranded in some neighborhood. Once I figured out what had happened I went around to all the neighbors and begged for empty milk and soda jugs. And an old piece of water hose to siphon with. Fortunately she had not filled up. So I only had about 7 gallons of diesel gasoline mixture to figure out how to dispose. I couldn't put it in a diesel motor because it had some gas in it and the risk of explosion...
I ended up using it to poison all the cracks in the parking lot at work which had weeds popping up. We didn't have any more weeds for 10 years. It worked great. Which brings out the point that you should not use fuel to poison or burn fire ants on your lawn because you will have a dead grass spot for years.

Would seem they could identify the culprit. I am sure there is no law broken, but I am also sure the three jackasses that indicted Trump could cook a law that was broken+ there could be civil penalties. I am sure the drivers don’t have deep enough pockets to make it right but they might squeal on higher ups.

I’m well aware of the dangers of diesel in gas engines. Before every flight in a light plane I sump each tank to verify there’s no contamination.
I have seen tanker drivers unloading gas into tanks and they have never checked for contamination. You’d think that at the very least they’d check when they fill their tanks.

ALWAYS sniff it before you pump it. Your gasoline rig will tolerate a couple of gallons of diesel fuel in the tank if you top it off with real gasoline. A little gasoline in a diesel fuel tank won't cause major damage. Take a sniff of the nozzle first and be safe.
