By far the best reason to support Governor DeSantis, or at least admire him as an outstanding governor, is that he is uber-competent when it comes to actual governing. This is not a post explaining why I support DeSantis over Trump–that is, at the moment, a pointless exercise anyway. All I really want to do is highlight the fact that being a good leader requires something besides saying the right things, but actually accomplishing the important things. And how accomplishing the important things allows you to say the right things and move the ball forward. DeSantis has proven to be an exceptionally competent governor,

If DeSantis would run on his successes as governor and ignore stuff about Trump (and what the Republican committee is probably telling him to say), he would be a really viable candidate against Trump. I like Trump, but honestly he is getting too much baggage.

Yes, he is a very popular governor of what has become a solidly Republican state. He has a state legislature that is controlled by the Republicans and gives him pretty much whatever legislation he wants passed. He has an attractive wife and children. He is super popular with his state's voters. He just gives off the aura of being super competent and a great leader. Even the media in his state was pretty supportive of him. Sadly, I am describing George W. Bush when he decided to run for president. We all know how that turned out. He got to the sewer of Washington DC and discovered that not only the Demon-Rats, but also so many RINO Republi-Can'ts in Congress, wanted him to fail. It suddenly wasn't easy to get anything done with the entire uni-party establishment making his life hell day after day after day. DeSantis should have stayed in Florida and worked on his conservative leadership resume for another 4 years. He should have been Trump's biggest cheerleader for 2024. If he had, he would have been the guaranteed frontrunner for 2028, and would have gotten the massive support (votes and $$$) of not only Trump's huge base of supporters, but also of Trump himself. This total lack of judgement, combined with the history of G. W. Bush, and all the campaign snafu's that he has done in this primary season, makes me think that he is not presidential material -- at least not yet.

I still do not understand why Trump and those columnists who support him in the world of political punditry and on this site, believed it necessary to destroy DeSantis. In past elections, for example, it was sufficient to see one's favorite candidate achieve a clear majority of support, sufficient to garner their party's nomination, and put their focus on the general election. Currently, the majority of those purporting to support Trump, have blasted Trump's most current choice of political party affiliation, essentially calling for the elimination of the GOP, which does not ensure that Trump gets back into the White House but does ensure an up-hill battle to keep the House out of democrat control and remove democrats from their current Senate majority, things that are typically essential for a successful administration. It was a majority Republican Senate that twice kept Trump from being removed from office during the democrat's impeachment frenzy. Democrats are likely comforted knowing that if Trump manages to slip through their lawfare net, the third impeachment will be the charm.

Yes, he is an excellent governor of a solidly red state. But anyone who thinks RDS will fare better in the DC big leagues and slay the hydra that is the Establishment because he managed hurricane emergencies well is smoking something illegal. I'd take a hurricane any day over the duplicity and mendacity of the Swamp. The hurricane is far less destructive and wasteful.

#8 - Being critical of Governor DeSantis does not equate to being out to destroy him. There is universal recognition of his administrative and organizational skills, as well as his ability parry with the press. The main objection is his timing at this moment of great crisis in our country's history. Should our enemies be successful in keeping President Trump from the White House, there will never be another truly conservative, patriotic American president in our lifetimes. If the Deep State is able to take out The Donald with his intellect, instincts, persona and wealth; do you really think any other non-approved "Republican" candidate has a chance? Trump's "baggage" is same "baggage" that is the same garbage that has been hung around the neck of true patriots since the communist infiltration of this country began. You can judge how great a threat Trump is to the ruling class by how much garbage they are throwing at him. Only the weak are frightened by it; true patriots see it as proof our hero is on target. Trump is also undertaking a hostile takeover of the Republican Party. The GOPe has become an enemy agent and cannot be trusted. Plus Trump has his legal difficulties brought to him by the Deep State. There's a lot on this great patriot's plate. He needs support from every American patriot that is aware and awake. Our second revolution is on the horizon. MAGA REVENGE - TRUMP 2024

Opposition to Rep. Kevin McCarthy becoming House Majority Leader was palpable on the right at the beginning of 2023. During a drawn-out fight, Rep. Chip Roy and other conservatives held up his promotion to secure a new rules package and guarantees surrounding investigations. Eventually, McCarthy secured the votes after making several concessions, and at that point, it was fair to wipe the slate clean. He deserved a chance to prove himself, and for the most part, he's been a fairly good leader who has kept his promises regarding investigations into the weaponization of government and the Biden family's corruption. I suppose it was just a matter of time

A federal judge handed down hefty sentences against two members of the Proud Boys for their role in attacking the Capitol on January 6, 2021, one who broke open a window to the building and another who took over the leadership role of the group that day. Their sentences, both among the longest yet of the over 1,000 people charged as part of the riot, are emblematic of how judges are working to separate key figures who furthered the violence that day from those who were swept up in the crowd. “If we don’t have the peaceful transfer of power, I don’t know what we have,” District Judge Timothy Kelly said

Shares of several big media and entertainment companies tumbled Friday as investors considered the potential fallout from an impasse between cable giant Charter Communications and media titan Walt Disney Co. On Thursday, Disney said it had pulled major networks such as ESPN and ABC from Charter systems after the two companies could not come to terms on a renewal of their carriage license. Charter’s systems reach a little under 15 million subscribers in markets that include New York City and Los Angeles. Charter raised eyebrows Friday morning by declaring that it could not strike a traditional renewal pact with Disney while more cable subscribers were fleeing to streaming video on demand.

Last month, families became the single largest demographic group crossing the border for the first time since President Biden took office, according to preliminary data obtained by the Washington Post. That title previously belonged to single adults. More than half a million migrants who arrived as part of “family member units” have now surrendered at the border this fiscal year, breaking yet another record.

The White House briefing room has been the site of a lot of bad and bizarre things. Most of that stuff has come from the mouth of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre or other members of the Biden communications team or the liberal media reporters spouting the spoon-fed narrative. We saw on Thursday how Jean-Pierre was left stammering and disturbed when asked about Biden's biographer saying Biden admitted to being frequently "tired." Jean-Pierre also had blown off the question of why the doctor was with Biden the day before, claiming that she wasn't aware of the situation. If it wasn't a scheduled visit, that raises even more questions.

A Texas law banning transgender care for minors will go into effect on Friday, now that the state Supreme Court has lifted a temporary injunction issued by a lower court. Last week, a Texas district judge ruled that the law banning the medical transition of minors violated the rights of transgender children, as well as the alleged rights of doctors who follow “well-established, evidence-based” medical guidelines. After the judge issued the temporary injunction, Texas officials immediately appealed to the state Supreme Court, the highest court for civil cases in the state. The order from the Supreme Court lifting the injunction provided no further explanation as to the constitutional reasoning behind

The Kyoto Protocol was a "climate treaty" ostensibly designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by the signatories during the period 2005–2012 to a level equivalent to 95% of each country's 1990 emissions. While it did not introduce any new scientific means to reduce CO2 emissions (worldwide CO2 emissions grew by 32% during the period), the Kyoto Protocol introduced a novel economic concept: the trading of carbon credits and offsets. At first, the concept of trading carbon credits was straightforward; it was known as "cap and trade."
