When Hawaii officials released a report last year ranking the natural disasters most likely to threaten state residents, tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanic hazards featured prominently. Near the bottom of a color-coded chart, the state emergency management agency described the risk of wildfires to human life with a single word: “low.” A year and a half later, the catastrophic fires that engulfed Maui and the historic town of Lahaina this week have already become the state’s deadliest natural disaster in more than six decades, with a fatality count of at least 93. Hawaii officials underestimated the deadly threat of wildfires even

WHAT? The democrat government underestimated the deadly threat
of wildfire? They were unprepared to help their citizens? Say it isn't so!

They're all democrats, and therefore, some of the smartest people ever, so how could this be?

Why does Trump start wildfires? What does he have to gain from it?
I know there's no evidence that he did, but what else could it have been?

FTA: the county fire department’s strategic plan included “nothing about what can and should be done to prevent fires”
Yet another, and this time deadly, example of just how useless government officials and agencies are.

The area around our vacation cabin in Colorado burned about 5 years ago, several hundred thousand acres and 250 homes burned approximately. And it was caused by an illegal alien who moved to Colorado because dope was legal, and was so addled that he fell asleep and left his cooking fire, where he was illegally camping run out of control.
I a dry season, fire is no joke. Few died in that fire because of timely evacuation notices. Western forest fire fighters are amazing, and after weeks of fighting it, finally stopped it. Many homes were saved by firefighters dropping water from helos just in front of the fire to protect the home, or by dropping a few trees near a home to clear a last minute fire break. They came rapidly from many states away, which I suspect isn't possible on an island so far from any mainland.
Taking wildfire seriously should always be the case.

American Liberals have done what even Imperial Japan was unable to accomplish, which was to firebomb Hawaii.

Magnum PI:
"There's a funny thing about paradise, every day is pretty much the same as every other day. One slides into another; weeks become months. And before you know it, you could lose several years without really noticing where you were going. That's why, there are hurricanes. To shake everything up; to give you chance to take stock of what you have left, after the winds have died down."
...as well as do the "Deferred Maintenance", neglected for sooooo long.

Why they sent emergency notices on cellphones and not also activate the emergency siren system, will be a topic of discussion (and likely multiple lawsuits).

People are also complaining that the power company did not turn to power off SOON enough, which would have shut down all warning systems, radio, TV, cell towers...not many people even have "Landline" home phones anymore, the last resort notification/rescue pathway. If the power companies shut of all transmission EVERY time winds gust over 40mph? The "People" would not stand for it.
I'm wondering if a wind generator is what started this...

The state told Maui County for over ten years straight that the place was going to burn. They kept putting things off, until it was too late. Now, they’re asking relatives of missing residents to submit DNA samples so they can identify remains that they’ve located, because the bodies are effectively cremated.

In 2018 Hawaii activated its emergency alert system (sirens, cellphone notifications) because they thought a North Korean ballistic missile was headed straight towards them. Lots of people lost their jobs because of the screw-up. I'm wondering if some of the authorities in charge had that in mind and hesitated to activate the emergency alert. I hope not. Or maybe they just didn't understand how insanely fast wildfires move. Tragic.

Maui, have you identified the ecoterrorists yet who started this inferno? It's ok. Just let us know who to remove from this planet.

They pretty much had no game plan to deal with wildfires, although all the warning signs were there.
